Bulldogs trample Tigers
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
What Georgia team was that that put a 37-15 hurting on No. 5 Auburn Saturday?
The Bulldogs said they were playing for pride, but was this effort more than that?
Matthew Stafford looked strong, and so did the UGA defense in setting the tone early. What do you think about this game, and about the Dogs’ chances in two weeks against Georgia Tech, which is bound for the ACC title game?
And how much did UGA improve its chances for going to a decent bowl game? Which one could the Dogs be headed to based on this performance?

Great game, Dawgs! Don’t listen to all the immature haters, Dawg fans. You’re not a fan if you come on here bashing after a loss, or a win for that matter. Get over it. No one is perfect.

Albeit too late, Auburn awoke the sleeping giant. Keep this consistent w/o the turnovers and it looks like we should finish the season strong and ride the wave into National Championship contendors for 2007. Greene 2001 Tenn game = Stafford 2006 Auburn

Wow, I didn’t see that coming. I didn’t talk trash to my AU friends before the game so I won’t now.
We played inspired, ran the ball successfully, our receivers made catches and Willie Martinez had an effective game plan and made adjustments.

1st—-Anyone still wanting Muschamp?Unfortunately Auburn deceided not to show up to the buttkicking contest today. Very impressive win for the dawgs, much needed victory going into the bye week. Tech does not stand a chance as long as Ball is QB against us. Thats a fact not opinion. Auburn fans, tough loss, but its the natural of our rivalry. Look forward to going at it again next year.
Question to Auburn fans…Should Cox have been pulled? He looked horrible.

Well, maybe all those fair weather fans will finally shut-up—-Coach Willie had a great scheme, and the O finally was clicking…..Tra Battle, what a great game and so did Lumpkin and Stafford—the receivers caught on to the ball—if we had a field goal kicker, we would be right where we expected, 8-2, with losses only to the hated Gators and Vols! So, I am inspired by what I saw today—-next year—top 10 again!

Great balance on offense. Stafford started to tuck the ball away after the first two. Brandon Cox? What in the hell happened there? Defense played inspired football. Great game, dawgs!! Last week I said in a post that I was not sure that UGA could finish better than 6-6. Happily, Georgia proved me wrong and I could not be MORE DELIGHTED The team played with a lot of heart and I was thrilled to see that. Matthew Stafford looked great today and he has steadily improved over the past few weeks. He still has some maturing to do but he will only get better. The last few weeks have been tough but it has been a valuable learning experience as well. If Georgia plays against Tech like they played today, I think we have a good shot at beating Tech. A little history lesson: in 1976 Georgia won the SEC championship but went 5-6 in 1977. The freshman class that came in that year was the basis of our 1980 championship team. With a couple of good recruiting classes and some younger players maturing, Georgia will be back in contention in the next couple of years.

How ‘Bout Them Dawgs!
Georgia beat Auburn today, 37-15 … what a pleasant surprise. I certainly did not expect a “W” after our poor play for most of this season. Of course, we have all heard that “You gotta play the game.” And we all know about the crazy home-field DISADVANTAGE in the Deep South’s oldest rivalry.
On the WNGC 106.1 pregame show, they were talking about UGA’s great wins at Auburn in 1966 (SEC title), 1976 (SEC title), 1986 (the hose incident), and 1996 (1st SEC overtime game: Dawgs win 56-49 in 4 OT’s). As a pessimist, I was thinking, “Yeah, that’s great, but it won’t happen in 2006.” Well, I am very happy to report that history did somewhat repeat itself today.
Again, what a pleasant surprise! We still struggled with turnovers. But the O-line blocked, Lumpkin broke the 100 yard barrier, the defense finally got to the quarterback, and Tra Battle was the difference maker. Our first drive of the game was a sight for sore eyes. I could not believe what I was seeing.
Stafford had his breakout game today at Jordan-Hare Stadium, much like David Greene at Neyland Stadium five years ago.
So glad to get a “W” over the rival Auburn Tigers (especially after last year’s fourth quarter meltdown in Athens). The Dawgs got a solid win against a great football team today.
The 2006 season has been a major disappointment. The UT and UF losses, while terribly bitter, were at least understandable. The Vandy and UK losses were insulting and embarrassing and really depressed the Bulldog Nation.
Today’s win, while not erasing the four previous losses, at least goes a long way to restore our Bulldog pride and gives the team another signature win for 2006. Up until today, our only signature win was the 18-0 victory in Columbia.
Hopefully, we have one more big “W” in store two weeks from now against Tech. We really need that one!
Today’s win also guarantees Coach Richt and the Dawgs at least a winning season for 2006. Even if we lose to Tech and the bowl opponent, we will still finish 7-6. Of course, I want two more WINS baby! 9-4 is much better than 7-6. But ultimately, the only goals that matter are national and SEC championships (not to mention the state championship).
For the record, this 35 year-old Dawg still says that GEORGIA TECH always has been, and always will be, UGA’s #1 arch rival (not Florida, not Auburn, not Tennessee). Just ask Vince Dooley and any long time Dawg about that issue.
On a more personal note, I will have peace tomorrow morning at church. I teach a seventh-grade boys Sunday school class. There have been a couple of them that LOVE to give me grief when the Dawgs lose, despite the fact that I do not talk trash or brag about UGA wins. They just know that I am a big fan, and they love to push my buttons to try and get a reaction. It has been VERY hard to bite my tongue this year, especially since one of the younglings is a Tech fan.
Georgia 37 Auburn 15
HOW ‘BOUT THEM DAWGS!
(I cannot be smug and arrogant about the win … we lost to Vandy and Kentucky this year. Great win today, but let’s not lose our heads over it.)

Well how bizarre, but I said in August that Stafford would start the Auburn game and show his stuff. Of course, I didn’t think he would start early games. Weird. I thought we’d be 8-2 or 9-1, though, before the Auburn game. Can we now hold it together and win two straight? We know this team is fragile. Beating Tech would sure recover a lost season.

For the record..the first fumble by Stafford was a bone head play..the second one though was a good play by the defender: you can’t really blame a guy when the ball gets punched out from behind. And “No Dawg Fan” it sure seemed to me like Brandon Cox was the one doing all the jawing out there.

NICE!
After spending the week on these blogs backing CMR for not capitulating to bandwagon fans and firing coaches in mid-season, this was sweet.
Nice to note that Bandwagon Bill King is back on board. Who gave a blog to such a fairweather fan that would declare this a terrible team? Oh yeah, it’s the same people that let Carter be the beatwriter.
As noted by a couple of other bloggers, WarEagle, you’ve exhibited class leading up to the game, and I won’t take any digs at you or your team here. I do believe that Brandon Cox wasn’t 100% today. Will also say I appreciated Tubberville’s post game comments. He showed class in defeat.

Nice to play the spoiler role towards Auburn for a change! This should silence the ‘Fire Mark Richt’ idiots out there, and goes to show that UGA is making significant progress. Looks like we’re going to have some excitement for years to come! Bring it on Tech… we’re clearly ready for anything you got!

This year says an awful lot about the character and abilities of Mark Richt. Last year, when Tennessee was struggling, there was tremendous contention within the team’s ranks. They were at each other’s throats… everyone taking sides. We’ve not seen that with our players. (We’ve only seen it from some moronic fans). All we’ve heard from our players is that they are sticking together and working hard to finish the drill.
Coach Richt has done a fabulous job of keeping this team together. We are so blessed to have him leading the Bulldawg Nation and teaching these young men what character really is.

I love it that Tech fans get on these blogs and talk about beating UGA like it is something they do regularly. No matter how bad we have been you can’t really talk trash to a team that has beaten you 5 years in a row. But I guess their QB cannot count 4 downs say it figures that they can’t count 5 losses.

As bad as this season has been….Beating the living S%^T out of Auburn makes it all worth it. I was at the game in Athens last year and that loss has haunted me for a year. I loved watching Brandon Cox with his face smeared in the dirt all day.

Note to all rednecks: You had a lot in common with UNC today. Tech looked past UNC and Auburn looked past you. Face it, your program has become one of those cute little mediocre programs that pulls an upset on occasion. What were the other 3 SEC wins? Missy, Missy St., and Cocks (before they found their offense). Just hope that at least SOME of your recruits pan out next year…

If UGA beats TECH and wins a bowl game they will be 9-4
If Tech loses to us and the ACC championship or bowl game they will have the same record 9-4 if the lose both they’ll be 8-5 so I wouldn’t be running my MOUTH if I were a TECH fan!!! Still can’t figure out how ANY Tech fan can come on hear running their d—-sucker about being superior to Georgia after disposing of lame-duck North Carolina 7-0. That’s a Tech Fan for you!
You got lucky to win the Coastal division because Clemson decide to mess the bed. YOU ARE DILUSIONAL!!!!! Bring your Gansta QB and his mouth up to Sanford Stadium so we can finish this off right.
Tuberville took his whipping like a man, and that shows a lot of class in my book. I wasn’t sure about him until now. The Dawg Nation can point to this game as the one Stafford decided to make this his team. The offensive game plan looked solid and it was nice to see the lineman move their feet and run block for a change. Cox had a horrible game and our defense needed some confidence.
If you like excitement then you love being a Georgia fan. I always say “Don’t bet on Georgia, but never bet against ‘em either!!!”

I like Will Muschamp but it ain’t always the coach. By the way, Auburn defense was horrible against South CArolina earlier this year…
Our defense still showed it is vulnerable, but when the offense doesn’t screw them over, they can do alright.

I just think it’s so hilarious that Tech fans and even some other “Hater” posters have the nads to talk smack. The Dawgs team that showed up today is probably a bit closer to the real UGA than the team that lost to Vandy and Kentucky, but in reality is somewhere in between. Today’s effort might have been good enough to beat UT and UF, but we’ll never know. It’s truly amazing how good this team can be when they execute. As in, catching the freakin’ ball and putting pressure on the other team’s QB. It’s clear we still have some issues, like Stafford holding onto the ball, but it looks like Richt squared that one up. Our O-line was making a lot dumb mistakes, false starts and holds, but otherwise blocked well. The defense also had a few brain-farts with tackling, but all told, they were aggressive and I liked it. I think Tech will have their hands full with the Dawgs, but the question is, which UGA will show up? We can only hope the Dawgs will again be “playing for pride” and rise up to beat the ACC Coastal division champs. Remember what Clemson did to them with the run, an occasional well-timed pass, and big-time pressure.. squish, squish Yeller Jacket. Go Dawgs!

NewsDawg, UGA hasn’t played that way all year, so how can you say its closer to the “real” UGA? UGA played a pretty flawless game, I’ll give them that, but just because they did it one time doesn’t mean that can do it against everytime in the country. Plus, Cox turned the ball over 4 times. Almost any team can beat another one when they turn it over that many times.

UGAHater, I believe the UGA team is somewhere in between what we saw today and the cruddy ones that lost all of those games because of just the point you made, you idiot! It’s a total anomaly for a UGA team to turn the ball over 4 or 5 times like they have done in so many of their games. It’s been much more the norm to force that number (in years past), so the fact that we actually executed and were able to win is less of a surprise. Passes have been there all year, they just haven’t been caught in crucial situations, like for first downs or touchdowns. Trade half of the red zone field goals for TD’s (which I know you can’t) and the season looks a whole lot different. Then, the number of times our offense’s turnovers put our defense in dire situations, especially after they’d just made a big stop, or inside our own 20, Well.. our record speaks for itself. I’m not saying we’re a great team, but we could be a pretty good team. Just not yet. NewsDawg

From a GT fan, a great win for the Dawgs. Good football should be appreciated by everyone, no matter who you cheer for. Going on the road in the SEC and punching someone in the mouth for four quarters isn’t easy and you guys made it look simple. There can’t be to many true freshman that have gone into Auburn and had that kind of game. I’ll catch hell for this, but you guys have three quarterbacks that would start ahead of Reggie. That’s scary but true. Two weeks, settle it on the field, doesn’t get any better than that. We would luv to see some one on one coverage on Calvin…

To CMR - very happy to eat my second guessing this afternoon. To those who can’t handle the criticism in the paper following a loss - Go get a degree from Temple, or someplace else where nobody cares if you lose. Show me a town that doesn’t crow after a loss and I’ll show you a loser. Grow up.

Great win by the Dawgs on today. The offensive line protected Matt Stafford and gave him time to throw the ball. He played really well for a freshman(besides the fumble in the first quarter). He moves good for a QB(just protect the ball and get down). Lumpkin ran the ball hard. That is what I want to see from Lump. The wide receivers were marvelous on today. No dropped passes. I was really impressed to watch them go and get the ball. The defense played well also. Battle had 3 INTs. He was Auburn’s leading receiver on the day! I believe that is the game of his career. Good gamecalling by CMR and CWM. Gotta give CWM some credit because some of the fans are hard on him when the defensive side of the ball seems timid. This team is like night and day. If today’s team shows up at GT, I know we can beat them by 2 TDs. The biggest key was protecting Stafford and giving him time to hit his receivers. I believe that the temporary sacrifices we have made this season will pay dividends in the future. Great job kid! I hope that Lump and Ware are okay and we will look forward to seeing our beloved Dawgs against the hated Nerds. Go Dawgs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great win for the Dawgs……..no dropped passes, great defense, and great running by Kregg Lumpkin. Where has he been? This is probably the most complete game this team has played since South Carolina. It sure was nice to see our receivers have a great game against a pretty good Auburn defense. Everybody knows Coach Richt is a first-class individual, and yes, I did see Brandon Cox doing a good bit of jawing. As for the Georgia defense, I think I saw several second-team players on the field on Auburn’s second touchdown drive…..our first line players needed a break…..all of a sudden I think our seniors will now have a renewed sense of confidence with the off week now and then with the Jackets coming into Athens in two weeks…..should really be a great college football game between the Hedges. Stafford is finally showing the nation why he was so highly recruited….truly a season of trial by fire. Go Dawgs!!

Coach Richt, This win is a testament to you and the character you bring to this team. A lot of people doubted you. I’m as guilty of that as anybody. A couple of weeks ago though, I started to think about all you must be going through this season with your wife battling her illness and trying to find a quarterback. You never waivered, your team did not quit as evidenced by the scoreboard on the plains.
While I doubted your coaching, I never EVER doubted your character. You know maybe it is about more than wins and losses. Your boys learned one heck of a life lesson from you this season. I hope they’ll carry it with them for the rest of their days. Job well done sir. Job well done.

Well Tech, we stand no chance against you. You were obviously playing vanilla on purpose to not show us anything; ya’ll are still obviously the greatest thing since sliced bread. And us, we are still terrible. Auburn was clearly uninspired to play the Deep South’s Oldest Rivalry, and a chance in the SEC championship game. There was definitely nothing for them to play for. They just decided to let us win. I hate Clemson as much as the next Dawg fan, but I thoroughly enjoyed watching them whipping your a**es. But maybe ya’ll were just uninspired for that game. Tech, we have owned you the last five years, and we have already shown that you cannot beat us with or without Calvin Johnson. We have as much, if not more talent than the previous five years. Why are you so confident that you will beat us? Better make sure you dont look past us to that big game with Wake(which by the way, has an actual good quarterback). Better make sure you come inspired. Don’t make the same mistake Auburn obviously did. And we’ll make sure the game doesn’t start at noon, so you can use that obvious excuse. You Tech fans really are smart, for the education that you supposedly have.

Why even bring up Tech ? As far as “Dog-Nation” is concerned, the season is over now and its bowl time, right ? Isn’t Tech the game that no one cares about and never matters ? Similar to Colorado, right ? Just another win in the bag.
All that was proven today is that Auburn is another one of those chronically overrated SEC teams. I’m sure that half of Athens probably thinks that UGA should now move to #3.

Oh, and also I saw a Tech fan try to downplay us by saying they’d like to see us play Clemson and Notre Dame. By the way, we’ve beaten Clemson twice very recently. I’d like to see you play at Neyland Stadium in front of 107,000. That’s double the size of most of the stadiums you play at by the way. I’d like to see you play a night game at Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge. That’s a REAL Death Valley, not the fake one in Clemson. I’d like to see you play at the Swamp in Gainesville. Hell, I’d even like to see you play in Columbia. I’ll admit, that’s a tough place to play. Yeah, you won once in Auburn, but you scoff at us for winning there today, so I scoff at yours. Admit it, if you played in our conference, you would fold like a tent. Congratulations on your win today. Good luck against Duke next week.

Any team that loses to UGA shouldn’t be in the top 25 which proves, along with the other games today, that the SEC is not half the conference the drunk pollsters think they are. The SEC has one top 20 team - Arkansas. There’s not another team in the SEC that could beat Rutgers or Louisville or West Va.

even though tech only won 7-0 against lowly UNC, they made the plays they had to in order to win the game. tech won on its worst day against a UNC team with a lot of heart on homecoming playing for their coach who was recently booted.
on the other hand, UGA gave up game winning drives to VANDY (on homecoming) and KENTUCKY who are arguably the worst two teams in the history of the SEC.
Yet here we are with UGA fans running their mouth and bragging about this supposedly amazingly talented UGA football team.
I am not talking trash about how gt is going to beat uga, i am just asking for you dawg fans to be realistic before opening your mouth and removing all doubt of your stupidity. in fact, i think gt will always be considered the underdog in this series. not because our team is not good, but because athletics is the only thing UGA is about rather than want it was meant for … academics.
By GTBUZZ
November 12, 2006 12:17 AM | Link to this
you UGA fans are such a joke. you lose to vandy and kentucky, then beat auburn and all of a sudden you guys think your poop doesn’t stink. UGA finally proved today that it CAN be a solid team, but don’t brag if you lost to vandy and kentucky. it is going to be a hard fought game in two weeks, but i hope reggie and calvin each break their foot off in CMR’s you know what.
By GTBUZZ
November 12, 2006 12:21 AM | Link to this
I think the game in two weeks will be a hard fought, close game because each team hates the other so much. Even though most UGA fans do not consider this as much of a “rivalry” game, the last time GT beat UGA … they fired their coach. I understand that donnan also lost to UT, UF, and AUBURN some, BUT THE LAST STRAW WAS LOSING TO TECH.
lets face it, UGA wants to win this game. It is not “just another game”. it is the battle for the state of georgia, for bragging rights at the water cooler. for tech, it is a chance to be superior to UGA athletics instead of just academics.
let’s face it, UGA is a joke as far as academics. it doesn’t matter if graduates from either school have the same job in the end, any university who offers “leisure studies” as a major is a joke.
This leads to my next point, UGA is here for one reason only … athletics. On the other hand, GT has a strong academic record and a fairly good athletic record as well. If UGA loses to tech, it means they not only suck in the classroom in comparison, but on the field as well for one whole year. if tech loses, we still know that our school is academically superior … so it is not as much of a loss.

I’ve said all year that we have the talent to win all of the games we play. Today was the day that we played to that potential; the last five weeks we had not been playing as a team. Yellowblood and GTBUZZ, I know you are actually sweating about the game in two weeks, don’t lie. BUZZ, if 6-4 Kentucky is arguably one of the worst SEC teams in history, that says a lot. Kentucky could beat UNC by 40. Vandy could beat…oh wait, they did…beat Duke by 20. And Yellowblood, if you lose to us, I will make you remember that comment about any team that loses to us doesn’t belong in the top 25.

GTBUZZ You really should get your facts straight before posting. 2005 freshmen enrolling in UGA had an SAT average of 1241 and high school GPA of 3.74. That’s a long way from “sucking in the classroom”.
This lame argument some Tech fans use is to put salve on their egos from getting beat on the football field year after year. These kinds of inaccurate statements undermine your claim of being “academically superior.”

Where are all the cocky UT fans at tonight? You are not as big and bad as you thought? Great win for UGA. If Couto doesn’t get hurt I think we would be 9-2 at the worst, maybe 10-1. Also, have to wonder if Stafford had been with the 1st team before the WK game. He lived up to the hype today and last week when he took the Dawgs the length of the field against UK with the game on the line. Hope Danny Ware and Lump are healthy in 2 weeks. UGA proved today they can play with anybody in the country. I hope Tech overlooks us like Auburn did today.

Fierce Dawg,
i just said gt will always be the underdog in the series, so of course i am sweating about the game in two weeks.
also, I highly doubt Kentucky could beat UNC by 40. let’s look at the facts. last week, ND only beat UNC by 19 (i think) at south bend. and vandy had to score a couple of times late in the game to even put the game out of reach against DUKE.
Kentucky’s non-conference games have consisted of a good Louisville team (they lost by 31 i think), texas state, and central michigan. next week they play a “good” LOUSIANA MONROE, we better hold our breath over the excitement of that one. that is three wins (hopefully) against bullcrap teams. that means their seven wins will consist of: these three games, ms state, ole miss, vandy, and you guys. except for UGA, these are the worst teams in the sec (this year) and crappy non-conference teams. yet you want to tell me this team would beat UNC by 40????? once again, it is better to keep your mouth shut than to open your mouth and remove all doubt of you stupidity.
Vandy has four wins. one against UGA. two of the others were against tenn st and temple. vandy must be one of those “solid” sec schools i keep hearing about. and once again, they had to score late to put the game out of reach against DUKE!!!!!
On the other hand, UNC has played non-conference games against rutgers (you know, the team who beat lousville the other night) and lost by only 5, furman (who could beat ul-monroe on their worst day), notre dame, and south florida. these are 3 bowl teams and a 1-AA school who is no pushover 1-AA school. if kentucky had played the non-conference schedule UNC has, they would not be 6-4. Kind of like UGA if they hadn’t played colorado, western kentucky, and uab.
Duke has played non-conference games against Navy (a bowl team), alabama (a bowl team), and 1-AA richmond. 1-AA richmond sucks, but the other teams are bowl teams. but here you are bragging that vandy beat them because of a couple of late scores?????
in order to come up with this stuff, i had to do what we call “READING” and “RESEARCH” which is probably why you did not know this information. thus further exacerbating my point that UGA is all about athletics and not academics. unless of course you never went to UGA, which is expected.
By GTBUZZ
November 12, 2006 01:02 AM | Link to this
AlwaysADawg,
thank you for proving my point that UGA is a joke as far as academics. the statistics to which you are refering are for INCOMING FRESHMEN, not students once they are enrolled at UGA. what students do before they get to UGA has no weight as to how good of a school UGA is, it only measures how competitive it is to get in. i did not say one word about the student body at UGA. i spoke no negativity about the enrolling student body, only of the validity of how “challenging” a school is which offers leisure studies as a major.
at least you did research, i thought research was on the endangered species list at UGA.
by the way, on average tech is 100 points higher in sat, just fyi.

That’s what I’ve been waiting all year to see.
Matthew, welcome to the world, enjoy your stay at UGA, and may 3 SEC Championships in a row be your everlasting legacy here.
And for those who think Willie has proven anything, how about you let him put together two straight games?
This is the Willie Martinez way: have your D ready to play unbelievable one game, come out the next game and play like pop warner 7 year olds.
What I want from Willie is consistancy from his defense.
Win out, otherwise, I still say fire Willie Martinez, who’s lack of consistancy as a DC cost us Auburn and West Virginia last year and Vanderbilt, Tennessee, and Kentucky this year.
If he can get the D to get some consistancy, and if he never ever goes back into that prevent soft zone, then he will have learned his reprieve.

BUZZ, let me end this now. Furman put 35 on UNC, a I-AA team I believe. You guys put up 7. Impressive. Let’s break down YOUR record, which you failed to do. You beat Samford by 30 and Troy by 15. Congrats on that. Calvin Johnson beat Virginia. You needed a late turnover to beat Thug University(Miami), as well as late heroics against Maryland. I’ll give you the win at VA Tech, as you must give us the win today. I won’t mention the butt whoopin at Clemscum(who by the way have now dropped out of the rankings). So that leaves a win at Blacksburg, and a very impressive ACC Coastal championship to say for your season, though you were a couple of plays away from being 6-4 yourselves. I would say you have no more to flap your gums about than we do. We had those couple of plays go against us, and you had those crucial couple of plays go your way. It’s that simple. By the way, the real reason why you are always the underdog is because we always have the more talented team. If you can’t beat us this year, don’t expect to while Stafford and/or Richt is here.
By smack mojo
November 12, 2006 01:19 AM | Link to this
This whole season I’ve been stressing that this team and this program has to take a few lumps in order to grow into the national contender it wants to become. This was not the year to compete nationally. As ugly as the last month has been, sometimes a team must hit rock bottom in order to grow.
This team took a big step toward what could be a USC-like reign the next three years. Georgia got some of it’s swagger back today. They recovered what they lost in the Tenn. collapse. If they can continue on this path, and win out, this can explode next year.
Stafford grew up today much as David Greene grew up in the hobnail boot game. If he can play like this in the next 2 games, then I would say a 9-4 record is a fair trade off for what is to come.
I have been critical of Martinez and today that criticsm ends. Richt has wisely chosen to shelter all responsibility for this program and we must allow him to make the staffing decisions that he feels best for this team. He is our guy and we as fans have to do a better job being in his corner when times are tough.
Hats off to Georgia. Still along way to go, but finally headed in the right direction.

Hey GTBuzz…first off, enough of this nonsense talk about academic superiority…we’ve got you beat in business, law, and liberal arts while you’ve got only engineering. Secondly, I’d much rather go to a school with the hottest girls in the nation as opposed to a school with a major deficiency in that area. Reggie will once again lose the game for you and that’s all i need to say about the football. By the way…one of those beautiful babies is waiting on me to finish this blog, so I’ll see you in two weeks with your head hung once again as we embarrass your pathetic “ACC title game” team. Go Dawgs!! To the couple of thousand that actually stuck it out yesterday, you are to true fans. We came in expecting the worse and the exact opposite happened. The celebration was amazing and the Georgia fans handled themselves with a lot of class. It was a great day for the true fans that stuck it out through the freezing rain. As thrilling as it was, we all acted like we had been there before and the Dawg Nation represented well. I am so proud!

UGA deserves all the accolades as they really came to play and AU did not…however, the bulldogs surprised me with their showmanship and lack of class…case in point: one bulldog, after Cox went down, jumped over him and pushed his head down into the turf; another got in his face and began jawing after the play was over; still another bulldog after an int went after Cox, grabbed him, rode him about five yards and then threw him down to the turf and when Cox got up, got in his face and then Coach Richt runs out onto the field after Stafford was touched on the thigh, back pedaled and fell over as if AU had smashed him to the ground on a dead ball false start. Like I said, a little surprised. UGA played a brilliant game and deserved their victory, but…GO TECH!!!!!!!!!!!!

We watch the game with Auburn grads on a yearly basis. I was dressed in all black for a funeral. Total shock to see a croaking football team come to life. Was it the Dawgs, or did Cox have a really bad game? He has that disease Dixson has, right?. He just did not look right. Weak. I don’t know who the back up is, but he shoulda been pulled.

head count, Tech fans are so jealous. It sucks to be playing for a championship while UGA upsets an AU team that did not show up. You guys had lost four of five games going into AU. Congrats on a meaningful win. It’s good to see Dawg fans back to arrogant and ignorant. Our season will not be defined by the Tech/Uga game. We have more to play for. Reading this is a perfect example of Georgia fans. Tech fans never talk trash beforehand. I can’t see why after one win, that Auburn’s QB gave to you guys, that gives you even a prayer of beating the 8-2 Jackets. Matthew Stafford is the worst QB I’ve ever seen. This is Tech’s year guys, you got Stafford. End of story.

Class tells. And the degree of class emanating from the Georgia Bulldogs exceeds that of any team currently playing under the NCAA banner. Evidence their final plays of the game: 1st down and goal to go with just over a minute on the clock. Rather than humiliate Auburn further, Richt has Stafford take a knee—four times! Class not only tells, it tolls: loud and clear. Go Dawgs!

This is a comment to all the young bulldog fans this year that believe a program is measured only by a won-loss record. I have followed Georgia football for 40 years from Vince Dooley to the present coach,Mark Richt. Coach Richt has brought back the respect Georgia used to have under Dooley. Do you think a Kid of Staffords quality would have come to Athens before Richt came. We used to battle teams such as FSU, Auburn, etc. for prospects and usually loose out. Blue chip players want to play for Georgia now. As a Kentucky fan said to me last week with envy, we may have won the game, but you are “GEORGIA”. Everyone has a right to vent fustrations, but be proud you are fans of one of the most respected and stable programs in college football today. Thanks to Mark Richt, years like this are the exception instead of the norm. Believe me, i have been there and in the 80’s and 90’s and you would not have liked it. “GO DAWGS”

You guys amaze me!!! GA plays it’s best game of the season and Auburn plays it’s worst. All the sudden you are all back on MR and Staffords jock. Do you really think this changes the season? We still lost to Vanderbilt and Kentucky in the same season. We lost to our #1 rival TN and Fla. Give me a frigging break!! The only good thing I saw from CMR is the fact that maybe he has learned that in order to win you must have balance. He finally figured it out, “you have to run the damn ball in the SEC. Can we beat GA. Talk to me after that game. Will we make it a clean sweap and lose to all three rival in the same season. This was a terrrible season. Average at best!! I am a real fan!! Real GA fans expect and should get more. We were not a top ten recruiting program for the past ten years just to expect average. Prove me wrong Mark Richt. Beat GA Tech and have us in the running for a National title next year. Otherwise you have done nothing that the last two coaches have done.

Now don’t get me wrong, Joe T is a loyal DAWG, will be a wonderful QB coach in NFL/SEC, is a great person and makes the Bulldog Nation Proud. But MATT should have been running the offense from day one. The Defense, remember the one who posted 2 shutouts in a row, gave up when they saw the offense was not clicking. Tech fans are crappin their pants. They just don’t want to admit it. How could they not be after barely beating North Carolina 7-0. They want to talk about Vandy and Kentucky but Carolina is on a whole different level. They are horrible. All the Tech “fans” poking their chests out the past few weeks. Take consolation in your coastal division championship. That is all you have left to claim. Wake will beat you in the title game and win the joke conference of the year. Tech fans talk about big game wins. Who has Tech beat? Virginia Tech, Miami, NC State? They are all terrible. Tech hasn’t done anything to brag about. You give Tech fans something to talk about and they run with it(every 10 years). There’s a whole lot of business to handle yet. The Dawgs are alive and well. It’s not how you start it’s how you finish. Remember that Tech “fans”. I would be very concerned about the trip to Athens. Well that’s nothing new. GO DAWGS!!

Everybody knows that we own Tech….Even with a rebuilding season we could beat Tech with Paul Oliver at quarterback. Any giving weekend in the SEC you have to come to play your heart out. The worse team in the SEC is better then the best team in the ACC. The DAWGS exposed Auburn like every other running team in the league. Run up the middle and you will blow the game away. For all you haters, check all the stats its not the defense that never shows up for the game. The only bad game the defense had was the offense. 26 turnovers will be any team down. The freshman is growing more and more every game. Next year it will be hell in Athens. The three headed running backs and a crop of wide receivers that had problems this year wrapped up with a experienced sophmore quarterback. I see another SEC Championship and a great BCS bowl coming to Athens. GO DAWGS!!!!!!!!!

1) GTBUZZ, here are some thoughts…first, UGA’s test scores are very good, and the fact that Tech’s are better doesn’t change the fact that UGA is considered a better school for most of the majors that we share and your excellence is in one that we don’t have. Second, anyone going to Tech for a reason other than engineering either a)likes Dungeons and Dragons and Star Trek conventions too much, b)really enjoys the beautiful life that is downown ATL(aka hell on earth), c)commutes, or d)wants to go to a school where they won’t be worried about facing rejection from the opposite sex. Lastly, the “we’re a better school” argument is one that is commonly used by lousy athletic programs. However, you are using the argument with a school that is nowhere near the caliber of a Northwestern, Duke, or Vandy. Maybe you should try to get your Institute(isn’t DeVry also an institute?) to improve in that area or hope your athletic teams improve so you don’t have use that pathetic excuse anymore.
2) As bad as UGA has been this year(by our standards), the win over Aubarn was far more impressive than any Tech win or loss this year. For one, AU is better than any team Tech has played, and 2nd it was decisive and on the road. Also, Tech fans can make fun of the other teams UGA has defeated , but in reality they would be average ACC teams this year. The only reason Tech will win the division(and probably gets spanked by Wake) is that someone has to win, and that team is Tech by default this year. If I was playing basketball with my five year old who can’t even make it to the basket, I guess I could be a basketball champion, but it’s a rather hollow acheivement.
3) Tech, “congrats” on a great year for you. True, it would be a “down” year for us(and it will be after we finish with similar records) but we just have different expectations, and for a middling program it’s a big deal to win an awful division of an awful conference once every 15 or 20 years.
4) Tech fan, your “national championship” was Colorado’s and every with a brain and no blinders knows it. If only there was a BCS to settle it on the field instead of having bonehead coaches give it to Yech. Beyond that I believe the last one was around 1911 and you ditched the SEC because you couldn’t compete in it, see 3) for more information on your program.

Boy, am I relieved. Order is now restored. Since UGA creamed Auburn they are now once again one of the nation’s elite and all is right with the world. Athens can once again return to the status quo of being 25 sq miles surrounded by reality. Tech is totally terrified. After all, aren’t we playing a team that has recruited 98.7 % of the top 10 recruits over the past 5 years ? I’m sure that OSU and Michigan and Notre Dame and Florida are all saying: “Boy, I hope we don’t have to play Georgia in a bowl game.

GTBUZZ So you really think that incoming freshmen with SAT scores of 1241 won’t keep it up? Come on, use some common sense.
Your argument was not that Tech students have higher SAT scores. Your argument was that UGA students “sucked in the classroom”, which is inherently false. If you’re going to continue making that old, lame excuse for why UGA cleans your clock every year, at least keep your argument consistent. Otherwise, you show that maybe you’re not as smart as you think you are.

CouldCareLess, it’s unfortunate you have to target someone’s faith in the Lord. Coach Mark Richt is a Christian and has unwavering belief in the Lord. He is thankful for everything he has regardless of a win or loss. He accepts a loss and doesn’t blame God. Even if Georgia had a losing record, he would still be thankful because football is just a tiny portion of what ultimately he lives for…his love for Christ and his family. Win or lose, he is thankful for what God has provided.

Sheesh. Where are all the whining fair-weather Georgia fans now? Fire Mark Richt? UGA will never field a varsity football team again? Join the ACC? Armageddon? The sky is falling? Dawgs and Cats sleeping together? Please. Congratulations to the UGA football team, coach and loyal Dawg fans on having a great day on the Plains. Every football team has a down year, but I would say your kids probably just redeemed a rebuilding year and set the team up for better things next year. As for the whiners, most of whom have probably never set foot on the Athens campus on a school day, you have nothing but the scorn of true football fans everywhere. It’s a game meant to be played by the athletes and enjoyed by the fans; it’s not a war when you have a bad day, you turn on your own. Relish the special days, and show some maturity when your team has a bad day. It’s a sport.

The “authorities” all wrote off the ‘Dawgs and said that they were incapable of winning such a contest. So much for the pundits. Such is college football little nimrods. If you didn’t see the possibility of this coming, then you just started shaving—or maybe you don’t yet. As for you limpwrists who think UGA was just ready to slip to a permanent 3rd place in the SECEast—guess again, Nancies. They will be a force with which to be reckoned next season and thereafter. Tech? Ha! I’m sure the ol’ anus got a little tighter seeing the ‘Dawgs dismantle AU (and DON’T try to say that AU was a bad team…if they’re a bad team, then wait’ll ‘Tech rolls around). Where are all the Nerds this week? I guess they’re not so confident that they’ll beat UGA anymore. I wouldn’t be either!

Oh-fer Reggieeeeeeeeeeeeeee! Click-Clack. Bring your Smacky mouth to Athens. State Title up for Grabs. It all comes down to this.
CJ is probably the best athlete in the country, but still can’t figure out why he doesn’t get more touches. Can one of you overeducated fantasy footballers explain the Gailey-Nix formula used in by so F—-ing brilliant. If you gave it to him on a reverse 4 times you would’ve scored 21 points against the lame-duck UNC. He’s one that should not have gotten away from Coach Richt.
It will be a great game in Athens. Can’t wait.
