Leaving Lexington a loser

Georgia’s struggles worsened on Saturday when Kentucky rallied late for a 24-20 victory in Lexington, exploiting the Bulldogs’ propensity for turnovers.

They capitalized on two second-half turnovers to stay in the contest, then pull ahead for good inside the final two minutes. Matthew Stafford’s third interception of the game was converted into the decisive drive for Kentucky, which is above .500 (5-4) at this juncture of the season for the first time in a long while.

Meanwhile, the Dogs dropped to 6-4, with games looming at Auburn next Saturday and against Georgia Tech.

What made the difference in Saturday’s game? Was it turnovers? Or coaching and preparation? Or is Georgia just not as talented a team as some thought? Were the Wildcats better than expected?

And what about the rest of the season? Do you see any hope of an upset in the final two games, or does a 6-6 slate seem the most realistic outcome of what has been a very disappointing season?

What about Georgia’s bowl chances? Does this team deserve a bid? Could you even get excited about a third- or fourth-tier invitation at this point?

We have now hit rock bottom! What a difference a year makes. Can’t believe that we are this bad with the past couple years of recruiting we have had. No excuse for this. I don’t look forward to playing our last 2 games. It will be ugly. Coaches and players need to take a long, hard look at themselves for a gut check. We do not deserve to be in a Bowl. I hope we don’t get in one. Why pro-long the agony of this season.

Now the Blog, Ok Mutts and Mutt Fans. I was on you real Bad when you lost to Vandy.

I was on you when you lost to Tenn.

I never said one thing when you lost to Flordia because it was expected,

Im not going to say nothing when you loose to Auburn.

BUT now you done went and lost to KENTUCKY.

So you ready for this >? You lost the Tenn game and you was yelling fire the coachs.

You lost the Vandy game and then you started saying its a Rebuilding Year.

You lost to flordia and you started saying wait till next year.

Now you went and go beat by the KATs! and im sure all your going to do now is saying something like, the only game that matters is Tech or something stupid like that.

The bottom line is Georgia needs to hire Jim back and let him know up front he cannot go to the tech games, after all you know what happens then.

Im gonna stop right now and let you blast back at me about how good you have been in the past and while you guys are typing I will just sit and read all the new excuses you come up with for this LOOSER.

Really just tell the Truth …. The Dogs WHAT ?? say say it. Here kity kity kity.

This loss was not totally unexpected. I, and many others, suspected a loss to KY after the Vandy debacle. This is not a good Bulldog team. And, the reality is that the next two yrs. are probably not gonna be better. The entire team needs overhauling from asst. coaches to players. This team does not deserve any bowl invite. Not even one of the multitude of “loser bowls.” CMR KNOWS the next years will be tough. He said as much at the Athens Touchdown Club. The great recruiting obviously ain’t so great. The biggest item on their agenda is getting a stable of good offensive linemen. Forget the glitzy QB’s, etc. Get some players that can really play OL. My guess is that within three years, CMR will be out of coaching and in the ministry somewhere. He is NOT a good gameday coach. I point to Auburn last year as evidence. What GA needs is a hardnosed, no nonsense coach, with a real killer instinct. No one need get really mad. It’s not gonna get better anytime soon.

Where did Lumpkin go?

3 carries 35yds 1st drive

10 carries 48yds rest of the game?

Poor Play

Poor Offense

Poor Defense

Poor Special Teams

Those are the 4 P’s you don’t wanna have. We layed an egg today. This team has layed down for CMR, they are playing just like they did when they didn’t wanna be at the Sugar Bowl last year. It showed in the first half of that game and this lack luster play has reared its ugly head again. No Senior leadership, poor execution, and bad coaching has gotten us where we are.

How can you still play Stafford? 3 picks, and no talk of playing Cox? How disappointing.

Wow, you guys lose to Vanderbilt and Kentucky in the same year? What happened to all of those blue-chip recruits UGA signs every year? Has any team this year done less with more? Remember back when the puppies were 5-0 and talking about how their defense was the best in the country? Yeah, I barely remember that either.

I almost feel sorry for you guys, because you seem to handle adversity so poorly. But go ahead, scream about your defensive coordinator, or your WRs who can’t catch, or whatever the reason for this week’s debacle is. It’s fun to watch.

By Daniel

November 4, 2006 04:32 PM | Link to this

Unacceptable….completely unacceptable. While you expect mistakes with a freshman quarterback…the problem continues to be preparation and focus. That portion of the game comes from the coaching staff…if Mark Richt does not address that then we will continue to struggle. We have the players and obviously the talent to compete but to let KY march down the field and score is horrid. Turnovers will occur but then having the defense to minimize the effect is critical and i do not think our current DC can handle the job. Our wide recievers coach is obviously another position that needs to be addressed. Ever since his arrival our recievers have struggled with receptions….they obviously catch the ball in High School so what happens when they get to UGA? Coaching is the only common denominator there…and yes you can’t force them to “catch” the ball but you damn sure can make them practice until they don’t drop it. And why for the love of god was Martrez Milner in the game, even if he did make some catches? Where ia the back-up to the threat of losing your starting position? Senior or not he needs to sit out a game unless Tripp gets injured!

YOU MIGHT AS WELL FIRE CMR NOW BECAUSE WE ARE JUST GOING TO END FIRING THE PUTZ NEXT YEAR OR THE YEAR AFTER. cmr got his 2 sec champs when fla & tenn were down and when his best players were donnan’s recruits. now that each and every single player on his own team is his own recruits, you see the results. and, oh, BTW, he is now going to sell out and go the JUCO recruit. nothing smelled more desparate than his announcement this week that he was going to go the JUCO route. put another band aid on a broken bone CMR. wake up, blind loyalists. stop practicing that blind faith. As a true UGA fan I think we just have to realize that we are playing with a freshman QB and without playmakers on offense. It will be really interesting to see what happens next year. The real question is when Andy Bailey is going to decide to kick ANYTHING between the uprights. His missed kicks cost us the Vandy game, and now today’s tally: 2 missed FG’s, 1 missed PAT (PAT???) = Dawgs lose by 4.

Hire Richt right now so we can find a real head coach (Ralph Friedgen maybe). And send Willie M. a-packing!! I couldn’t stand listening to the game. I just want to say that Stafford has a LOT of growing up to do. I hope he is humbled now and will approach next year as a true student of the game.

I have to say that I am starting to agree with the “Fire Calloway and Martinez” camp. I also now feel that Richt needs to hire a CREATIVE offensive coordinator (who can recruit) and let him call the plays.

Frankly, there is NO EXCUSE for the dogs losing to Kentucky and Vanderbilt this year. We have the talent…coaching has been the major problem. We should have chosen a quarterback before the season started. We should have been using the whole playbook before the season started. We should have benched a few players when they didn’t perform. I know the players need to execute, but come on…If the coaching had been there…then the players would have been motivated and perform or they would have sat down.

Hopefully it will not be long lasting and we can take our lessons and turn it around next year like our neighbors in Orange did. What is the possibility of getting our old defensive coach to return to Georgia. Martinez is definitely not the answer if you watched the sick defensive plays of this year. Don’t be like FSU and stick with a person who is not going to Coach the Dawgs to winning seasons. We have to much heritage in the Dawg nation to do that.

This season is not a blip. Georgia has fallen so far so fast, it will be a long time before it gets back. Stafford is not the answer and running backs by committee are not either. What are the coaches thinking. You have a top notch running back in Lumpkin and he only gets to carry the ball 13 times for 85 yards. When you have a back like Lumpkin put the ball in his hands 25 or 30 times let him get 150 yards are more. Control the ball, control the clock. Thats how you win ball games in the SEC. I dont think the defense is the sole reason the Dawgs are losing, its no doubt coaching is the reason the Dawgs are where they are at. It all start at the top with the head coach.

This is the frigging SEC!!! Take your frigging pass happy offense back to the ACC. His offense is so predictable. We run first in the SEC!!! Why in the hell do you pass on 1st down and goal. I blame the interception on Mark Richt!!! Richt is frigging horrble. He can not win with the guys he recruited. Credit his his success thus to Jim Donnan. Well, it’s official. We are the laughingstock of the SEC. I never thought it would come to this, to be this bad. I actually think it’s partially MY fault, I clapped, laughed and cheered louder than anyone when Tennessee sucked so bad last year. They weren’t kidding, karma really is a b*tch.

We don’t deserve a bowl game at 6-6, and I’d be embarrassed if we were offered one. Total restructuring from top to bottom needed. The alumni with money (therefore, that doesn’t include me since I’m broke) need to start making a lot of noise. This is beyond unacceptable.

I’ve conceded the losses to Auburn and Tech already. No need to have any false illusions, and I’d rather be pleasantly shocked than gutwrenchingly disappointed like I was today.

As a Georgia fan, I probably bought into the hype after the 5-0 start. I thought losing to Vandy was bad enough but THIS…..I don’t think heads need to roll as much as butts need to be KICKED. The coaching staff may as well use these next 2 games to prepare for next season. No excuses necessary:we just weren’t that good this year. Yes,overrated. OUCH.

Mark Richt as head coach has gone 10-3 in 2005 with an SEC Championship, 10-2 in 04, 11-3 in 03 with runner up to SEC Champ, 13-1 in 02 with SEC Championship and we should fire him after one bad season. Look at Tenn. last year, and give the man a break. It had been TWO DECADES since last SEC Championship and now you IDIOTS want to FIRE THE MAN. Such stupid bandwagon fans.

Hey, Dandydog, how many times did Donnan win 10 games? How many SEC championships did Donnan bring? He was a good coach but so is Richt. The team does not have the leadership or impact players it had the last few years and it has a freshman QB. You hate to say wait till next year but that’s about all we got. Firing Richt is not the answer. Getting some lineman and receivers is.

What a total embarrassment for the bulldog nation! 1) 4th and 1 on the Kentucky 30 in the second qtr and the offense can’t pick up a yard for the first down. 2) 2nd and goal from the 2 and we THROW a fade which gets picked off. RIDICULOUS! In both instances, we need to play smash-mouth football and pound the ball right down their throat. Calloway needs to go and take Martinez with him! Giving up 24 points to Vandy and Kentucky? You have to be kidding me. Coach Richt please make some changes and hire a OC!

Will you get over it already that high-ranked recruiting class are about as overrated as your pathetic existance as a top NCAA program. Five weeks ago I thought if UGA could win either of the games left it would be today against Kentucky. Now I don’t have much hope for next year either. If there are 11 defensive men on the team at one time, why are Taylor and Oliver the only ones doing any playing? Good offensive teams can play around those two. Someone told me a few weeks ago that Cox was the best quarter-back on the team, but I disagreed. Now I’m wondering if he was correct. The number one need of this team is an Offensive Corrdinator and a head coach to take care of head coaching duties. The biggest improvements made by teams this year has been made by Vanderbilt, Mississippi State and Kentucky. Florida, Tennessee, LSU, Arkansas, South Carolina and Auburn are still as good as they have been. So which teams does Georgia want on their schedule for next year? They will be lucky if they are one of the best five teams in the eastern section next year.

This year is a bad dream. No leadership on the field, poor coaching, no guts.

I’ve been a dawg fan since ‘72, this is far and away the worst Dawg team I have ever seen. We have been a team with poor offensive lines and inept receivers for years. Too many years. What’s new this year is a quarterback averaging 3 turnovers a game and a defense with the tenacity of a twinkie. We cannot control the line of scrimmage on either side of the ball.

MARTINEZ MUST GO!! CALLAWAY MUST GO!! EASON MUST GO!! Let’s get some SEC caliber assistant coaches. CMR is a good head coach. Can he pass his toughest test, get rid of the dead wood and surround himself with talented assistant coaches? We must get this thing turned around QUICK!

Georgia has had good recruiting classes the last couple years and we shouldn’t be playing this bad. These are the reasons why (in my opinion) that we are so bad.

1.)Willie Martinez is a HORRIBLE defensive coordinator and needs to be fired. We have good players but the play calling has been horrible, especially on 3rd down and against the pass.

2.)Matthew Stafford is too inexperienced and throws too many interceptions.

3.)We don’t have a true leader on offense or defense.

4.)Matrez Milner drops wide open passes and has been horrible in important/close games.

5.)Our offensive line has not blocked well for our running backs.

6.)Special teams are horrible and we need to fire the coach. We start on our own 10 yard line or lower way too many times and get too many penalties.

7.)Our running backs have have a disappointing season (a lot of it because of the bad running plays Mark Richt calls)

These are some but probably not all the reasons why we have been bad this year. It is just not acceptable to lose to Vanderbilt and Kentucky.

It’s time to accept this terrible season and play for pride. I can’t wait for the season to be over and I’m sure the coaches and players can’t either. Everyone goes through this at some points. Look at Michigan and Tennesse last year and look at them now. To all the Tech fans, we don’t have to be good to beat you. Tech is to Georgia what Georgia is to Florida. Is it 12 out of 15 now? Congrats on your good year, but you should wait until the game that matters most to you before you start gawking.

Back off “true fans” .In his first five seasons at Georgia, Richt’s teams have netted two Southeastern Conference Championships (2002 and 2005) and three SEC Eastern Division titles (2002, 2003, and 2005), along with four consecutive AP Poll top ten finishes. Going back to 2001, Richt’s first year at the helm, Georgia ranks sixth among winningest division I programs. Richt’s run thus far has been the school’s most successful since the early 1980s.

I’m not surprised at all by the loss, and I’m still not panicking. This team is searching for an identity, and so far they don’t have one (aside from coughing up the football). Give Stafford another year of development and we’ll see what happens. I still like what the kid brings, and it’s hard for some fans to remember that he was at prom about 6 months ago. And if he can’t do it, we have Joe Cox and another top QB recruit coming in. The defense will be better next year, whether or not WM gets canned. This team has a ton of potential, but just ain’t getting it done this year. 2007 should be a lot better, but I say that with some caution.

Richt is unproven as a recruiter. His greatest success came with players recruited by Donnan. So far, I see little to make me want to say he’s a good recruiter. What ever happened to “Tailback U”? What positions do these great recruits play at presently?

Richt is the worst offensive mind I have ever seen at this level. He needs to be forced to hire a good offensive coordinator or hit the damn road.

Martinez has turned a proud defensive tradition on its ear! He should already be gone.

As a motivator, Richt sucks completely. It it impossible to motivate anyone when you can barely find your own pulse. And his “awe shucks” style of understating dissappointments has grown old quick.

I would prefer Donnan over this genial corpse.

I realize defense is not all of the problem. Our offensive line play has stuck as well. Our quarterback play has stunk. Our play calling has stunk. We should have been able to run the ball down Kentucky’s throat but we couldn’t. What does that say? It says the offense…the players and especially the COACHES have stunk. We need an OC and a new OL coach next year to go along with a new DC.

And to all the Tech fans here…you are hilarious. Your ridiculous comments are so funny they give me some consolation in this down year for the program. I guess I should be trembling in fear at your predictions that UGA will lose over the next few years. Who would know about losing better than you?

OK, so we all know how this abysmal team has lost to Tennessee, Vanderbilt (snicker), Florida, and Kentucky (LOL). But let’s look at the mighty teams that the Dawgs have beaten.

Defeated 1AA school Western Kentucky (hehe) Defeated 5-3 South Carolina (polite applause). Defeated 3-6 UAB (the fourth best team from the state of Alabama) Defeated 1-8 Colorado by 1 point (ohmigod, what if you had lost to them???) Defeated 3-7 Ole Miss by 5 points (patsy) Defeated 3-7 Miss St. by 3 points (patsy x 2)

So the 1A schools you actually managed to beat this year have a combined record of 15-31 (I went to a real school, so I can add and subtract). 15-31? That my friends, is what you call ROFLMAO.

Is anybody noticing the state of the SEC these days? Florida snuck past Vandy. MSU beat ‘Bama, the same team that almost beat UT in Knoxville. Auburn barely beat Ole Miss. I think there’s a lot more parity in the SEC these days than a lot of people realize. EVERYBODY is struggling, and UGA is just slightly worse than most this year b/c of QB and other rebuilding issues. It doesn’t take much to slip in the current state of this league. Just being named “Georgia” or “Florida” or “Tennesee” doesn’t automatically make you a powerhouse.

Wow! It sure is good to hear do many dawg fans crying. The fact is that Georgia has a great recruiting class every year, but so many recruits don’t qualify and then some get kicked off ther team. Then you add in the players that leave early for the NFL and the end result is a bad season once in a while. It’s not the coaching staff or lack of effort. It’s just a lower than normal pool of quality players combined with a conference of good teams. Georgia will be back, but it may take a couple of years.

I agree with Gus. On Sunday night I watched the interview with Notre Dame coach Charlie Weiss on “60 Minutes.” The segment showed footage from one of Notre Dame’s games earlier this season and if Weiss did not like what he saw on the field, he would chew out his players and assistant coaches right there on the sidelines, frequently using colorful language. I wish that Coach Richt would show half of that kind of emotion during a game. Ray Goff coddled his players and we all know what happened then.

Actually, the silver lining in this is that Richt will now have to make some coaching changes, absent 2 miracle wins the rest of the season. Sort of hard to see how he can’t. If they had slopped through 8-4, then he could have held status quo. I think at 7-6 and more likely 6-6, he has to completely rethink his staff, the approach, EVERYTHING, in the offseason. In some ways, losing this year could force the changes that will help us not screw up in the big games next year. My bigger worry is that Stafford is not coachable. I mean come on, if the guy ain’t open, don’t just throw it in there. I personally don’t buy into the argument that him playing this year and throwing 20 interceptions is good for him to get ready for next year. So for all of you who wanted Stafford in there, I hope you are getting your fill. Seems to me we are blowing a year of eligibility and really he is not showing much improvement.

Hey morons! I’m a Georgia fan and once again I am apalled at our lost. I’m even more apalled that these “fans” want to fire Mark Richt. He’s done a great job at Georgia and this is just a blip on the radar…you can’t be good every year. Also, where’s the fans of Stafford now? I said at the beginning of the year that he wasn’t ready, and all season our fans have ome up for excuses for why he hasn’t played well- bad receivers, bad playcalling, etc. Now we all see that Stafford just isn’t ready, as 4 TDs and 12 INTs is unacceptable. Joe T, who didn;t throw needless interceptions, should start the rest of this season. Hopefully Stafford will figure it all out by next fall.

FIRE WILLIE MARTINEZ!!!!!!! Plese read and see if you agree We couldn’t get a defensive stop today to get the win! We couldnt get a defensive stop against Vandy to win. By the way Vandy has done NOTHING on offense since playing us!! We had a huge lead against UT and the defense couldnt get any stops! See a pattern!! It isn’t like we don’t have talent on defense. Charles Johnson, Quentin Moses, Tony Taylor, Paul Oliver and even possibly Jeff Owens will probably be playing on Sundays!!

FYI: We threw the ball from the 2 yard line before half time because we didnt have any time outs and there were only 20 seconds left. If we run and get stopped..we may not get another play. Richt learned that the hard way back a few years ago.

It all boyals down to coaching this year. Willie Martiniez is not making the adjustments as the game is played. He needs to go and never come back. We need an offensive cordinator. Coach Richt is to loyal to the people on his staff and this needs to end. As for Stafford he is not improving and that scares me heading into next year. He is consistently throwing the ball into coverage instead of throwing the ball away.

For those of you saying “Stafford’s only a freshman”, think about this. He’s worse than Reggie Ball was his freshman year, and look how well that turned out. Your problem’s not coaching, it’s that you don’t have a quarterback or a defense. How do you win at least 10 games per season for years with a coach, be SEC champs two years, and then in the middle of one bad year decide it’s all the coach’s fault? I know you think you should’ve won a national championship by now, but maybe, just maybe your team played BETTER than they really were the past few years, and finally they’re playing to their actual ability. Sorry you had to have a bad (read: horrendous) year, but don’t worry, I’m sure you’ll have another abnormally good run 20 years from now. Can’t wait until you guys play Tech!

Oh yeah, and thanks for all the laughs this year, you just keep making my weekends better and better!

all of you people who think that this is a blip, one year season, get real. The lack of effort and intensity is the problem. Good coaches win with less talent. Look at what spurrier has done at carolina. Does anyone doubt for a minute georgia would have a better record if spurrier was the coach.

BTW, did somebody at some point at some coaching clinic or something tell CMR that as a coach you should make sure to do everything that you can to prevent your own RBs from gaining 100 yards in a game?

So “joe” decides to call Auburn “stupid,” although it’s his post that is riddled with spelling and grammar errors. Then he calls us “lucky,” which I guess is UGA-speak for “better than us.”

Then he really steps in it by asking us who we’ve beaten. Well, we’ve beaten Florida and LSU, two of the top 15 teams in the country. Who have you beaten? A poster somewhere above mentioned that the teams you’ve beaten have a combined record of 15-31. And you ask us who we’ve beaten? That, sir, is the funniest thing I’ve heard all day (well, other than today’s UGA-UK final score, that is).

You people calling for Mark Richt’s firing are freaking pathetic. It’s typical of these times, though, that no matter what you’ve done in the past, a few bad weeks or one bad season and all of a sudden people want heads to roll. Tough times are inevitable in this league, people, especially with the parity that exists now!

And for those that say he’s won with Donnan’s players, uh, hello, Donnan’s last class graduated in 2004. I’m pretty sure we won the SEC in 2005.

I can’t wait to see comments from these same people if UGA knocks off Auburn and/or Tech. They’ll probably want to give Richt a raise. What a bunch of fair-weather idiots.

I think we are simply a mixture of freshmen and seniors that do not play well together. Candidly, after watching the Florida game I figured this outcome with Kentucky would unfold.

You have to take the good with the bad. We may not have lost to Vandy & Kentucky in the past 10 years, but we also were not winning any SEC Championships or playing un major bowls. We are good program struggling through a rough year. I believe CMR is distracted with his wife’s battle with breast cancer…and rightfully he should be. (You are in our thoughts and prayers Kathryn).

And for all of you opposing “fans” that like to come on this blog and run your mouth, why are you here? I guess everybody hates a winner.

And Tech, all the pressure is on you. If you get beat by this Georgia team be prepared to take everything you have dished out all year. This is your best team since 1990 and this our weakest in a long time. No pressure, bumblebees.

The last time Georgia lost to Vandy and Kentucky in the same season, 1973, was also a mediocre year but Coach Dooley and the team did finish strong with wins over Auburn, Tech, a thriller of a win over Tennessee in Knoxville (35-31 with Andy Johnson as starting QB), and a Peach Bowl win over Maryland. This year, sadly, with the defense, offensive line, and special teams that we have, I don’t think that it will happen.

I totally disagree with dean’s comment, “anybody who things that georgia will beat tech or auburn is smoking something”. Personally I don’t think it would be all that shocking.

Despite Auburn’s ranking, what have they really done? Their offense has sucked all year. They were gift-wrapped a win against the same UF team that barely beat Vandy today. Like UGA they barely beat Ole Miss, and Arkansas beat them like a drum in Auburn.

And Tech, well, they’re Tech. The only notable win this year is against VT, who has turned out to be having a “rebuilding year” much like us Dawgs. Tech fans can call the Miami win big if they want, but we all know Miami has their worst team in 25 years.

So, as much as my Dawgs have stunk it up this, year, no, I don’t think expecting to beat Auburn or Tech requires smoking something. It’s just that Auburn and Tech aren’t that good either.

i feel bad for CMR. he thought he was getting a great QB in stafford. but then he showed up with all of that baby fat and a terrible attitiude. Don’t worry CMR, as a parent myself, once you get your child through the terrible twos, they can actually be enjoyable to deal with. When stafford gets his maturity to be around say the level of a 3 or 4 year old, maybe CMR will be able to coach him then. the hard part though then will be to then teach him how to read the playbook and defenses.

Okay, Matty, D - O - G spells DOG. You Matthew actually play for the DOGs. And yes, Matthew I said DOGs and not DOG because when there is more than one of you out there, then there is more than one DOG, and you therefore have DOGs you are playing with. Remember that Matthew, that is important. There is more than one of you out there. You are a team, T-E-A-M. I will teach you how to spell DAWGS later. I do not want to overwhelm your simple mind just yet.

Now, Matthew say C - A - T, that spells CAT. Did you get that matthew. Good. Now when you play the CATs, you want to throw the ball to the Dogs and not the CATs. Did you get that Matt? Matt are you listening? Matt, where did you go? Matt, get your hand out of the cookie jar for once in your life. You are not in kindergarten anymore. Life is a little bit harder than just simple nap time, snack time, and recess, Matt. Matt, I gave you milk. What are you pouring in your milk? Matt, you know you are too young to pour that into your milk? wait until you are 21 for that. MATT, GROW THE HELL UP!! Do I need to spank you for the fifth time today?

Good boy, Matt. I am glad the meds are now kicking in. Now put up one finger. Good, now say one. Now matt, when you throw one to the CATs, that is bad. Repeat, Matt, one to the CATs, BAD. Now put up two fingers Matt. Good. Now say 1+1=2. Yeah, Matthew. Now, Matt remember 1 to the CATS + 1 to the CATS is not good. 2 to the CATS is very bad. Now, 1+1+1=3. 3 to the CATs means i will have to put you into timeout. Are you listening, Matt? why aren’t you listening, matt? matt, put your cox back into hiding. we don’t want to play with your cox. nobody wants to see your cox. Fine, Baby Elway, oh I mean Matty. go into timeout and we will take your cox out of hiding and play with your cox all you want. but you have to promise to tell your daddy to be quiet and not to get angry while you sit quietly in timeout while i take your cox out of hiding and have fun with your cox.

ATTENTION TECH FANS First, as a Dawg fan, I recognize that you guys are putting together a great season. Johnson is the best WR in the country, the running game is solid, and Tenuta is a great D-Coordinator.

Secondly, you all need to CALM down. I am very frustrated the UGA is having a “down” year. There is no excuse for this. We expect bigger things. But, for the few Tech fans who come on here and blast the Dawgs and talk about how they have been overrated for years, is crazy. You guys are having a great year, and we are having a bad year. Sometimes that happens. Just don’t forget who has owned you the last 5 years. You guys may actually get to play for your conference title. Congrats! Just remember who has played for the SEC title 3 of the last 4 years, winning it twice. You may actually get to go to a BCS bowl on a field that does not have a blue turf. Congrats. Remember who has been to 2 BCS bowls recently. We are having a down year, but you better save your trash-talking until AFTER Thanksgiving. Despite the bad season, we still have enough talent to pull of a win against you. Sure, you SHOULD win this year. You have the best WR in the country, a senior QB, a senior Secondary, and a good DC. Worry about how this is the FIRST time in a LONG time that GT can even begin to rub something in on UGA. In other words, ACT LIKE YOU HAVE BEEN THERE BEFORE.

WarEagle1993, you’re about as pompous as your head coach. A make-believe elitist who in the country’s eyes’ will always be second fiddle even in your own state. Georgia’s having a bad year, Auburn’s having a good year - congrats. But for a fan of a program desperate for attention to riducule any other prominent SEC program is nothing short of funny. Granted, TT has never had a season as bad as Georgia is having this year, but he’s won 10+ games only once in his career at Auburn while Richt as done that 4 times in 5 seasons. So where do we go from here….SEC shoe shiners! This is unreal…Maybe Donnan was fired too early. It was his recruits that won the last few years despite the bad play calling in big games (except Hays in the enzone against Tenn.) Richt is a good man but he needs talent and coaching help for him to be successful. Ok we have had 2 SEC championships in the last 5 years but that has come off of borrowed money (Donnan recruits). How do we measure Richt’s coaching ability? This seems to be a recurring discussion. We waited to fire Goff - give him time…”be patient”; we waited to fire Donnan - give him time…”be patient”. This is the beginning of the end for Richt. Maybe it’s the AD that needs to be fired along with the coach. Maybe somebody will stop being so forgiving and understand underachievement when they see it.

Relax dawg fans. We will not burn the bridges with Coach Richt or his staff. We will get this ship straightened out. All these non dawg posters will be silent once again soon. Stafford is learning the best way….the hard way. Granted, I thought we should be more aggressive defensively, but we don’t have that big hitter at safety. We will be better, this will change and everybody calling for the coaches head will be the same ones praising his genius next year. Part of being a fan is believing in what you have no matter what. Believe in what we are and who we are. We are dawgs…right, wrong or indifferent. Now can we PLEASE get ready to beat Auburn??? We will do it. Mark it down.

That was funny jacketnation…..

Georgia may get all those blue-chip recruits, but they are not team players. They are all about themselves. That is what separates them from Tech. Tech realizes they have to win as a team, and not as individuals.

Mike, Why do you guys always live in the past “we have owned you the last 5 years.” Whoopie!! This team has its eyes on the bigger prize, the ACC championship. The past is just that, the past and has nothing to do with what is going on today. Granted UGAg may have “had” good teams in the past. If you want to live in the past I can say 1980 or 1990 (hmmmm).

THIS IS BY FAR THE WORST SEASON I HAVE EVER WITNESSED IN MY THIRTY PLUS YEARS OF KEEPING UP WITH GEORGIA FOOTBALL! HOW CAN A PROGRAM WITH SUPPOSEDLY TOP FIVE RECRUITING CLASSES THE LAST THREE YEARS LOSE TO VANDY, KENTUCKY, AND ALMOST COLORADO? ANSWER; BAD COACHING!! DID NOT LEARN THEIR LESSONS FROM THAT HORRIBLY COACHED GAME AGAINST THE VOLS! THAT VOLS GAME WAS THE MOST POORLY COACHED GAME I HAVE EVER SEEN! IN THAT GAME, THE DAWGS HAD 150+ YARDS ON THE GROUND BY HALFTIME! SO WHAT DOES OUR GENIUS OF A HEAD COACH DO THE SECOND HALF (WHEN WE STILL HAD A TEN POINT LEAD)? PUT THE GAME IN THE HANDS OF A QUARTERBACK WHO WOULD NOT MAKE THE HONORABLE MENTION TEAM IN THE MEAC CONFERENCE! AND OUR POOR EXCUSE FOR A D-COORDINATOR! HAD A GREAT D-LINE TO WORK WITH! GOOD LINEBACKERS, TOO! IN THAT VOLS GAME, TRA BATTLE, JARVIS JACKSON, AND TONY TAYLOR SHOULD HAVE BEEN FEASTING ON AINGE! BUT NO! WILLIE M. WANTS TO SEND JUST HIS FRONT FOUR TO PRESSURE AINGE! DUMB!! NO MATTER HOW TALENTED YOUR FRONT FOUR IS, YOU MUST SEND BLITZERS ON MORE THAN HALF YOUR PASS RUSH PLAYS! AND ALL THAT CONCERN ABOUT COVERING TENNESSEE’S RECEIVERS DOES NOT JUSTIFY ALWAYS KEEPING BATTLE BACK TO HELP COVER. BATTLE WOULD HAVE BEEN FAR BETTER UTILIZED BLITZING THE QUARTERBACK! I HAVE NOT SEEN A QUARTERBACK COMPLETE A PASS ON HIS BACK YET (NOT EVEN PEYTON MANNING)! WILLIE M! IF YOU WANT YOUR JOB NEXT YEAR, WATCH SOME STEELERS OR PATRIOTS GAMES TO LEARN HOW TO BETTER UTILIZE YOUR PERSONNEL! NOTICE THEY DO NOT COUNT ON SOLELY TALENTED D-LINES TO PRESSURE THE QUARTERBACK! LET THIS SINK IN!!

Everyone just calm down. Let’s not get stupid and drive off a very good coach. We’re losing for several reasons. While coaching is certainly part of the issue, UGA has many bigger problems. No offensive line, no star receivers, no dominant running backs, tiny safeties, freshman quarterback, no kicker, etc. Not to mention, Vandy and Kentucky aren’t half bad this year (kudos to them). We can’t win it all every year, and its just a sport. Remembering what it’s like to lose will help this team remember how to win. Just ask Tennessee and Michigan about that from last year. Finally, to all the Tech fans….don’t mark that W on your sheet yet. You seem to be hexed against GA. Sometimes, that transcends talent and opportunity (ask us, we know this well against FL). The sportswriters are brain-dead. Stafford’s interceptions had no impact on today’s loss and resulted in zero points for KY. They had no impact on the other 3 losses. He has 9 interceptions in 5 games but they have resulted in zero points to the 4 teams that beat us [he gave up 14 pts in the Miss State win] Today, the defense gave up a game-winning-drive again, just like Vandy, after Stafford engineered the go-ahead touchdown. The numbers do not lie. The defense has given up 144 points in the last 5 games [29 pts/game] and we have lost 4 out of 5 games. In our first 5 wins, the defense only gave up only 24 pts total. How can you ever win if you are giving up 29 pts a game. If it keeps up, the bleeding will never stop. The offense is scoring enough points [24 per game] to be 8-2 or 9-1 if the defense had not fallen apart. The defense has been invisible, except for the FL game when they stepped up & showed a heart beat. Too little, too late. Don’t blame this on Stafford. If you want Cox and T to play, their talent is desperately needed on defense.

Richt has actually made me stoop to reminiscing about the “good ol’ Ray Goff era.” Remember when the Dawgs were actually good anyone??????

Losing to Tennesee and Florida once in awhile is marginally acceptable, but going 0-2 against Vandy and Kentucky ANY YEAR is grounds for some serious reflection on the ENTIRE coaching staff, starting with CMR.

I am a loyal supporter, not a blind loyalist. We all expect, and deserve, much, much more than what Richt is serving up these days.

I am Red and Black through and through, and I am a Dawg no matter what. Let’s get through these last two games, get some staff fired (Martinez, etc.), demand that Richt stop calling the plays and get ready for next season!!! At least Mike Shelia ain’t our coach.

For all you so called fans of other teams, who have nothing better to do than to come on the UGA game blog and spread your hate, just think how bad South Carolina feels right now. UGA blew them away early in the season. So for us Georgia fans, we don’t think we’re overrated.. and no, we don’t like losing to teams like Vandy and UK, but it really doesn’t matter. Despite where we started in the polls and where the media thought we should be, We knew we were rebuilding, and that we may have some surprise wins, and probably some surprise losses. So are we dissapointed? Sure.. but we know there are good things to come. The Kentuckys and Vandys are having as good of a season as they can EVER hope for. I’ll take a down year like this every so often if it means we can be in competition for the SEC most every year. Down years happen, and there are a ton of teams that would love to be in our position. Go enjoy your season, and leave us alone until you play us.

By P** OFF DAWG

November 4, 2006 07:40 PM | Link to this

WTF. One crappy season and everyone wants to fire Richt. He does need to make changes on the coaching staff. Martinez and Callaway along with the wide receivers coach. All of this 4 star talent is not being coached up!

One problem I do have with Richt is that he benches players and then they still play most of the game, kind of like grounding your kid on Saturday night and letting them go out at 12:00 am on Sunday morning.

Why is Howdy Doody face still kicking. He cost us the Tn game two years ago and Vandy and Ky games this year. Let Ely-Kelso kick the fg and pat’s. Isn’t there a soccer team in Athens? Even a girls soccer team….If Bailey had any integrity at all he would give his scholarship back and go to a division III school where there are no fans in the stands to embarrass himself.

As for freshman quarterbacks, I am not impressed with Stafford. Unfortunately he reminds me a lot more of Quincy Carter than David Greene or DJ Shockley. Logan Gray must be licking his lips waiting to come to Athens next year.

We do not deserve to go to a bowl game with a 6-6 record. If in fact that is our season record I hope that Damon Evans has enough class to turn down any bowl offers. Any excuse like this is a reward for the seniors would be a joke. This senior class has provided no leadership whatsoever. Quinton Moses a top five draft pick, give me a break, he is the invisible man.

That being said, GO DAWGS!!!!!!

By mad dawg

HT,

ummm, 12 interceptions simply does not cut it. even if points were not directly scored when his passes were intercepted, that stat can be misleading. because what turnovers do is change momentum and field position. the other team gets the momentum when you turn it over. your teams loses morale when you turn it over. the field position is ultimately, however, the big thing. if staff throws an interception at our 45, the other team advances to the our 37 but no further, then punts, and then we go three and out and advance the ball to say the 15 yard line or the 27 or 33 yard line and then we punt again, the other team gets good field position again, an extra 20- 30 yards they would not have otherwise have had, thus putting our already weak defense into a compromised situation where they have less field to defend. and this pattern goes on and on where the other team has better field position until either team eventually scores or the other team turns the ball over. SO, the point is that you can make the simplistic statement that stafford’s turnovers have not DIRECTLY led to scores on most occasions but they have certainly altered momentum, killed out battle to win field position, and have repeatedly placed our weak defense into compromises situations because of the poor field position they are given

By Embarrased in Lexington

November 4, 2006 07:47 PM | Link to this

I made the trip to Lexington and was totally disappointed. The players arrived at the stadium flat and that falls on the coaches. Defense was non-existant in the 2nd half. WILLIE MUST GO SOON!! Play calling by CMR was not good. We ran the ball decent, but in the 4th quarter CMR had Stafford in the shotgun on almost every play. For whatever reason, Stafford can not throw the fade. The 2 interceptions before halftime were huge momentum swings. We had a chance to go in at the half up 21-10. While Stafford under threw the interception in the end zone it looked Milner made no attempt to help his QB and try to dislodge the pick. We have serious issues and I hope the team will step up and realize we don’t deserve a bowl this year with a 6-6 record and a win over a 1AA team. Totally embarassing in Lexington. We got no pressure on the QB in the 2nd half and made Woodson look like a Heisman candidate. We are a BAD team, coaching changes on the defensive side need to be made. Also, senior leadership was no where to be found. When Raley got hurt the entire team knelt around him and prayed, but someone forgot to invite Inman who chose to sit on the sideline. NO CLASS INMAN, he is a big reason our season has been a disaster. Also, when Turner got hurt we put Watts in and he got beat on almost every snap. He looked out of condition and that falls on the coaches as well.

It’s simple. We have for years gotten by on great defense and special teams, which for the most part allowed our finesse offensive philosophy to … survive. This year the defense and special teams have come down to earth, and this has exposed our offensive scheme for what it is, backyard boogie-ball. We ain’t facing Maryland, Duke, and NC State every week, Coach Richt. You’re a great leader of a program. If you insist on calling plays, you have to change your philosophy. THIS IS GEORGIA, let’s just beat the man across the line of scrimmage and cram it down his throat!

HT….I couldnt agree more. Stafford has made mistakes and he is going to make mistakes because he is a freshman with a cannon on his shoulder!!! The problem is that with our receiving corp(se), his mistakes are going to be amplified.

Anyone who doesnt see his potential either doesnt really watch the kid or they are just stupid and p** off that we lost!

The defense is the real problem! I have tried to figure out what exactly is wrong with the defense, but I can’t put my finger on it! I can’t figure out if it is personnel or scheme…I suspect it’s both! $hitty teams are driving the field on us for game winning scores!!!! Until that stops we will not win!

Yes, we’re having an awful season and these guys are partially responsible for this. However, when your players don’t execute, turn the ball over, drop passes etc., you’re going to lose.

I am sickened by this season as well. However, I will always support the dawgs and not jump to conclusions about our entire future over 3 or 4 games. I love Georgia, but F-off to all you dumb redneck fans, who react ridiculously when you don’t win every game.

gdawgs77, I disagree with you and most of the other writers about Willie. It seems that most people around here have short term memory failure. How many times at the start of this season and last season did we all thank Willie’s defense for keeping us in the game.

All we can ask a coach to do is get players in position to make the play and time and time again we have people in position to make plays and they don’t. I really think that we do not have the talent that Dawg fans are use to seeing up front and it has hurt the defense in general. Additionally, the offense has to take some blame for the problem.

Now I do agree that we need a new OL coach as we do not have players in place to make a play. We also could use a true OC to call plays. Richt is way too conservative by nature to be the play caller with no one to tell him to open up the playbook or stay with what ever is working.

Mike, if you are still on here, I Love UGA. I have nothing against CMR, but I really would like to see some passion on the sideline. We will be much better. If anyone thinks we will lay down to Auburn - they better rethink it. And as for Tech - we will have the week off before we play that game. All is not lost. UGA is still OUR BELOVED DOGS!

mad dawg

I agree that turnovers cause loss of momentum and puts stress on the defense. However, the ones making simplistic statements are made by the sportswriters who don’t go to the game. They see 3 interceptions and automatically print Headlines that blame the loss on that. 2 of the interceptions today were at the end of the first half and did not change the score from 14-10 and the last one was a desperate attempt to save a game. The key point of the game was when GA was down 17-14 with 8 mins to go and Stafford engineered a 83 yd scoring drive and ate up 5 ½ mins of time to put us ahead 20-14. Then Andy Bailey missed the Extra Point for his 7th missed points for the day [2 other missed FGs] All the defense had to do was stop a 70 yd drive over 11 plays to win the game with 3 mins 40 sec left in the game. Instead KY goes 70 years on 11 plays eating up chunks of turf at 6, 11, 5 , 14, 9, 6, 7, 8, 1 [for a 1st down], 3 [for a TD] leaving only .59 seconds. Stafford only had 59 seconds to go 63 yds and the odds of an interception is likely. This loss lies at the feet of the DEFENSE, not Stafford.

Face it Mark: The defense was exposed last year during the sugar bowl. The defense has been “bend but don’t break” for quite a while now. Now with the the new clock rules that doesn’t work. Martinez has to go. Next look at the difference a new offensive coordinator has made for Tech and Tenn. Give up the control and hire someone so you see the entire picture. Finally let the BIG DAWGS out for the last two games. Open the playbook and try everything. There is nothing to lose and think of the excitement leading into next year. The boys need some confidence.

I’ve lived in ATL for 13 years and i’ve never seen a fan base more full of crybabies than UGA’s!

Good news is, at least basketball season is here- you have a great coach in Dennis Felton, but due to fan apathy he’ll probably leave in a couple of years. You can’t even put 8,000 fans in your little basketball “palace.”

At least we routinely put 70,000 in Commonwealth, awful year after awful year.

Hey Dawg Bloggers! Need a little help. Seems like the only way I kept up with the Dawgs today was through foxsports.com game trax. Well if I read the game trax correctly, I noticed that the Dawgs had the ball, 1st and goal at the 2 yard linr with about 21 seconds left in the 1st half. It was 14-10 at that point. I check the game trax five minutes later and it read 14-10 halftime. Which means the Dawgs didn’t score a thing. Any blogger care to tell me how they scored nothing, zilch, nada, on 1st and goal at the 2 yard line? Please, somebody, fan or foe tell me whar happened (i.e inr, fumble, clock ran out).

I do not understand why Richt keeps Stafford in the game. Stafford needs to Practice in the off season and CMR needs to start a quarterback with experience and a head for the game. Joe T has Senior Leadership and good skills. Blake Barnes is intelligent and makes good decisions on the field, although he has not had any play time he could provide leadership to the team. Joe Cox has played and in my opinion is currently better that Stafford.

How can CMR recruit another top notch quarterback this year? Why would anyone want to sit out for the next 3 years and watch Stafford throw interceptions?

The U. of Georgia is SUCH an inbred redneck place. And that dumb little town! Oh, I know, the double barrel cannon and the tree which owns itself, which the locals see as being on par with the Eiffel Tower and the Great Wall of China. Not to mention the shopping - there is that dump mall with the J.C. Penney and the shops selling “Hunker Down You Hairy Dawgs!” and “How Bout Them Dawgs” baseball caps and t-shirts (bowl me over with intellect and sophistication). It is primarily a collection of rockabilly skank bars with drunken country louts. The only possible explanation for why the locals are so impressed with it is that they arrived there from the turnip patch. As a graduate of the University of Virginia and a graduate student at Auburn, the University of Georgia definitely beats anything I have ever seen. UVA and Auburn may be a bit country too, but at least they realize it. UGA is the most country dump ever and has no clue. Have you people ever listened to audiotape of “Dawgs” talking? Your own ads on the “Bulldawg” radio network, for example? Your sports announcers? It makes me cringe, and that you all don’t speaks volumes…

By BandyDawg

November 5, 2006 12:11 AM | Link to this

This season has been a complete disaster for UGA. We just don’t loose to the likes of Vandy and Kentucky and barely beat Ole Miss and Miss State. We played Tenn and Florida close - for a while - but lost due to a combination of poor coaching decisions and play on the grid iron. Coach MR should burn this entire season’s game film and make several changes to the staff and player personnnel. It’s quiet obvious to any intelligent football fan that our defense is lacking greatly and our offense is too conservative. Coach MR appears to be coaching from the view point of “play not to lose the game” as opposed to motivating his team to go out and play to win. I’m not a fan of Richt’s calm ‘business as usual’ approach on the sidelines. As much as I despised Steve “Superior,” he possesses a killer attitude as he roams the sidelines thinking about how he can stuff the pigskin down the throat of his opponent. As for personnel decisions, playing musical quarterback at the beginning of the season was a critical mistake. We all know why Joe T III was named the starter and it wasn’t because he possessed the talent of a Div I qb. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have carried a clipboard for all these years. Richt’s constant need to appease his stable of quarterbacks for fear of one or more transferring is a cancer within the team. Pick a qb, even if it’s a freshman, find a suitable back-up (which he has) and stick with it.

You North Avenue Trade School fans are the last folks who should be talking smack about our season. Granted the insects are having a better year than my Dawgs, but I’ll take my two SEC Championships over the past five years and hope for a turnaround next season. And yes, GT will beat us this year. So go ahead and gloat, but the bees will return to their marginal status within the ACC as it always does. As for UGA, we can at least review several noteworthy programs that have floundered in the crap bowl by posting poor records, yet made their way back to Top 10 status. Anyone remember the Earl Bruce years at Ohio State? What about the dreadful Gerry Faust debacle at Notre Dame? Tenn had horrible year last year and turned it around this year. Curly Hallman’s years at LSU? Anyone remember how poor Oklahoma was before Stoops dropped anchor in Norman? Take a look at Michigan. There is hope for next year, but it starts with Richt. As far as recruiting goes, either the talent being brought to Athens isn’t as good as advertised or the various recruiting rating services were all wrong. This season has to be a wake-up call for Richt and the team. I say ride out the season and right after GT beats the p** out of us, start canning coaches and bring in experienced assistant coaches. And for the sake of everything holy in southern college football, go recruit offensive line talent, find a kicker who can put the ball in the endzone on kick-offs so our special teams coach won’t have to devise these stupid schemes that do not work. Finally, find some recievers who can catch a bullet launched from Stafford’s arm.

I think that Richt is doing the same thing with Stafford that Gailey did with Reggie in his first two seasons: dumb-down the playbook so it doesn’t overwhelm him.

Richt has a mess in that he’s got two rookie qb’s which have been undermined in most ways you can be. Both have been proclaimed as “The Heir” and both have been pushed aside as “The Bum.” Both have been teased with success only to have it ripped away from them.

The season started with everyone marking time for when Joe T. would loose his job. Then everyone obsessively watched the calendar for when he’d come back because of the poor play from the Rookies. Then when Joe T. wasn’t the answer, he lost his job to Stafford (the #3 qb out of camp) because according to Rivals.com he’s the qb of the future.

The leadership at UGA just isn’t there this year. There’s not a David Greene or DJ Shockley or David Pollack for the team to rally around.

I think that is the primary difference between GT and UGA this year. We are playing better football than we have since just before OLeary left, but we also have a good group of Seniors which help keep the team from collapsing (with the obvious exception being Clemson.)

Auburn, when was the last time you, or any other public SEC school besides my beloved UGA and UF cracked the 20 top public universities? Never. Do you have any idea how difficult it is to get in? Let me tell you, I applied and was accepted to Auburn through early decision as my backup to UGA and that was the norm in my Metro Atlanta high school. UGA deferred me. Tech, you are not that far ahead of us so quit acting like you are so much better. Now for football? Auburn will be a good game, but Techies…just wait until we meet in Athens. We own you and we always will. Next year the Dawgs will be back on top with an experienced quarterback, new DC, and an OC. Go Dawgs!

Hey i go to UGA and I was at the “Ritz” nightclub last night in downtown athens. Almost every UGA player was there, however i didnt see Stafford, Brannan, or T.Taylor or Joe T. but almost everyone else. Joe Cox was having the time of his life. two beers in hand, Ray gant was outta control, Danny Ware was drunk off his u know what. I said to my friend “they sure dont seem upset about the loss”. his response, “they could care less”. Thats the problem there is something wrong when a team is partyin hours after an embarrasing loss. none of these guys give a damn. and by the way Cox is so gone after this year. i take managerial accounting with him. told me himself

Hey, ugastudent; If your blog is true, then we got a problem! IF there is any player on the team who could care less about losing to Kentucky, then we will not win any more than four games next year. You basically got a mutiny going on. As I have stated in MY previous blogs, there must be some coaching changes. Your account of what happened at the nightclub confirms that most of the team has given up on the current coaching. Somebody like Cox being indifferent about losing is scary, considering that he comes from a high school that hasn’t lost a game since 2000. (and two WRs come from that same high school). Somethings got to give!

It’s shameful! With our talent, that cannot happen! I live in Columbia, SC. I watched Spurrier and Nutt yank poorly performing starting QBs to go with backups who developed hot-hands and, for USC, nearly won the game. Richt needs to learn from these guys. Stafford, “the annointed one” is not getting the job done. Where’s Cox? Where’s Joe T? Stafford’s performance this year gives me no reason to be optimistic for next year. Sure, he has a strong arm, but all that means is his errant passes get intercepted more quickly. Martinez and Stafford should both be replaced.

its all about the quality of players.do any of you really think that we have anyone in the same league as two instaters that are at arkansas and clemson.sam olajubuju and davis.we don’t have the size or speed on defence that is not going to change until you have new players.bigger stronger faster if you want to compete with the elite.jim donnan understood he just couldn’t get the most from the players the opposite is true of mr who has recuited poorly but has been able to get the most out of the players.

so-called uga student, you said Hey i go to UGA and I was at the “Ritz nightclub last night in downtown athens. Almost every UGA player was there, however i didnt see Stafford, Brannan, or T.Taylor or Joe T. but almost everyone else. Joe Cox was having the time of his life. two beers in hand, Ray gant was outta control, Danny Ware was drunk off his u know what. I said to my friend “they sure dont seem upset about the loss. his response, “they could care less. Thats the problem there is something wrong when a team is partyin hours after an embarrasing loss. none of these guys give a damn. and by the way Cox is so gone after this year. i got accounting with him. told me himself

the game was in kentucky yesterday nitwit. you are now banned for being a lying idiot. it is okay to criticize but why do you feel the need to make things up? aren’t there enough real things that are truthful for us to criticize this year without making things up?

FIRST AND FOREMOST FOR THOSE WHO HAVE NOT KEPT TRACK OF COACHES. THE COACH OF UNIVERSITY OF LOUISVILLE, MY HOME TOWN, IS NOT GOING ANYWHERE. HE HAS BEEN LOCKED INTO A VERY LENGTHY CONTRACT AND HE IS VERY HAPPY IN THE “VILLE.” ALSO, THIS IS ONLY ONE TERRIBLE YEAR SINCE MARK RICHT HAS BEEN AT THE SCHOOL. YES, I AM AS DISAPPOINTED AS EVERYONE ELSE IS BUT I KNOW THAT THE DAWG NATION WILL RISE AGAIN. PERHAPS WE NEED TO JOE COX AN OPPORTUNITY IN THE NEXT TWO GAMES AND NOT JUST GO ON THE LONGHORN PRODIGY. HE COULD NOT DO MUCH WORSE. REMEMBER ALL YOU FIRE THIS AND FIRE THAT THAT MARK RICHT HAS WON TWO SEC CHAMPIONSHIPS FOR OUR DAWG NATION.

TAKE NOTE OF THE COACH’S ACCOMPLISHMENTS AND NOT JUST ONE SEASON. YOU WILL SEE HOW MANY FAITHFUL WILL AGAIN FILL THE STANDS NEXT YEAR.

I am a Dawg fan but I am sick and tired of here the complaints. Left you heads high and support our team win or lose. This is a tough year, but we have one of the best football heritages in college football. The Dawgs have given us a lot to be happy with over the years. To all the current Dawgs “We love you and are behind you-win or lose.” A fan is defined according to Webster as “an enthusiastic devotee, follower, or admirer of a sport, pastime, celebrity, etc”. Lets be devoted to our team.

Maybe you should take Vanderbilt and Kentucky off the schedule and add Georgia State and Georgia Southern. Coach Richt said earlier this year that he didn’t want to add any teams to UGA’s schedule that had a chance to beat them. Georgia won a lot of games under Richt with another coach’s players ( Coach “D” ) I bet that you would like to have him back. Oh, that’s Right or is it Richt. He couldn’t beat Florida, Tennessee, Auburn or Georgia Tech either.

All y’all dumping on Stafford remember this: Joe T had his chance to prove he could lead the Dawgs to victory in the Tennessee game. Joe T’s bonehead INTs and TOs helped that first half 10 point lead to disappear quick. Though I lay 60 percent of the blame on poor coaching and play-calling, I’ll lay 35 percent on Joe T. simply not having what it take to bo a Div-1 QB. I’ll put the other 5 percent on WRs and TEs that no QB in their right mind can trust to make a play. The season was over after the Tennessee game. Any oppurtunity this team had of going to a decent bowl died after the Tennessee game. That’s why Richt went with Stafford (though he should have let Joe C. and Blake play some). Truthfully, I hope Stafford and Joe C. stick around next year. I believe though that if Richt goes to the U, Stafford will follow him. And Blake probably has already been accepted to Georgia Southern (or maybe GT if he likes physics, chemistry and calculus).

The UGA haters think Georgia was “lucky” for 4 years in a row? Good fortune happens in games, not over the course of 4 consecutive seasons. By your logic, it would be more reasonable to say that UGA is “unlucky” this season, having 1 poor season in 5. Not that I agree with that, but I’m trying to put things in perspective. There’s a lot of ridiculous stuff on here, but the 4 years of good luck takes the cake.

I have blamed Mark Richt and his halfback draws on 3rd and long, Willie Martinez and his bend and always break defense, and poor special teams play but now I’m coming to realize we’re just not that good this year. All these 4 and 5 star recruits coming out of high school are not making the cut. Maybe they didnt live up to the potential because of coaching. We are definitely not playing up to the talent that it seemed like we had. Maybe all these guys just aren’t that good. And for the 1,467th time can our o-line not get pushed 3 yards into the backfield every damn play.

we need to start looking at college football for what it has become. entertainment, plain and simple. we have sold our values out to be on college gameday, and listen to talking heads squawk @ making this more than what it is. i sat through at least an hour of cbs tv timeouts, which are momentum killers during the game. i watch kid after kid, who acts like they’re the king of the world on espn or the local news when they accept a scholarship to a higher learning institution they would have never got a look from if they didn’t have a 44 inch vertical and could bench 400lbs. it is what it is. coaches can not build character in these kids in 2 a days and superficial mentoring for 4 years. coaches will bend over backward 9 times to help a kid like odell thurman out, and then lock the walk on athletes out of team meetings. that’s not a knock on odell or uga, it’s a fact throughout this entertainment business. it’s rare to have the required leadership from the players on a team to get you through the hard times. al wilson was able to do it at ut. pollock and green seemed to have it @ uga, and their teams pulled through the hard times. we’re fools to throw so much of ourselves into something we have no control over, and bet on kids who are not properly tooled in the first 18 years of their coddled life. we hold the wrong folks accountable for bad play calls and missed kicks, the coaches coach to win, and the players play as hard as they’re character allows them to. it’s our fault for yelling “fire the coachâ€?, “the kicker lost the game for usâ€?, and “what will the recruits thinkâ€?. we’re the blame, and I don’t doubt that one bit. ut lost last night, i drove 600 miles yesterday and had a great time with my son on our last trip to a game together (he goes off to college next year, and things will never be the same). i enjoyed the game (except for the cbs tv timeouts), and was pleased with the entertaining effort by both teams. i may have seen some wilson/pollock/green type leadership on both teams. we’ll see.

I have to agree with the comments about firing Willie Martinez. However, I think John Eason and Neil Callaway need to be gone as well. Think about it; we can’t block and open holes for the backs, our receivers can’t catch a cold, and our defense; it’s horrible! When will MR see where the downfalls are. I almost think MR is too nice to fire anyone. Someone needs to step in. I read alot of negativity towards Stafford. I understand. You have to keep in mind, he is only a Freshman. The problem isn’t him. Yes, he did hurt us yesterday but look at the whole year. It wouldn’t have mattered who was at QB. How do we struggle to score on the second worse defense in the country? How do we give up so much to Kentucky? I am totally depressed at this season.

Its bad now but wait till they lose to Tech. It is not just the losing—there is no spirit in that team—you can see it in the way they hit and move around on the field. The loss that will come from the Tech game will be the worst. Then the real questions will start being asked and answered by the people who hired Richt. There is one thing you cannot do at Georgia and that is—lose to Tech. If Richt wants out all he has to do is lose to Tech for a couple of years and he will not have to go to Miami—UGA will buy his ticket—I’m done.

FIRE WILLIE MARTINEZ!!!!!!! Plese read and see if you agree. We couldn’t get a defensive stop today to get the win!

By 2N4YEARS

November 5, 2006 07:04 PM | Link to this

OK, I’m gonna be perfectly honest here; I don’t know what to think right now. I knew that sooner or later we would go through some growing pains of some kind. I knew that it’s hard to get up for every game every week and that we would slip here or there. I knew that playing w/ a low-talent QB (senior or not) that we would drop a couple of games this year, and I also knew that playing a young true-frosh QB would also cost us a game or two, but I never imagined we would fall this far this fast. It’s not just the QB’s. It’s the ENTIRE team! EVERY coach, D-fence, WR’s, O-line, kicker(s), game plan’s for every game. They are all terrible! They don’t even play like they want to win. Even if we’ve dropped of on talent we should still beat Kentucky. We should still beat Vandy. Think about this: we should have lost to Colo. We should have lost to Miss.St. We should be 4-6 right now. In the past couple of years I could tell, at times, that we seem to be playing acording to the level of our opponet. It’s way obvious now. It would seem that these guys (coaches & players) would have a little more pride than they’re showing. It would seem. I just wonder if CMR will wake up and make the changes that need to be made (he truely knows where the problem(s) lye). I just wonder IF he does, will Georgia ever get back to where they were — with that passion that they’ve so obviously lost. It takes a lot longer to gain it back than it does to lose it.

Hey Monty,

What planet were you on. Joe T started the Vandy game and sucked. He played a huge role in UT’s come back. Here is what bothered me yesterday in Lexington. I made the trip. The team got off the buses flat. BTW, they were back in Athens before 8 PM for all of you concerned. To NC Dawg…you asked what happened on the goal line? If you had read the earlier post you would have seen my comment that Stafford can not throw a fade. He threw it into double coverage in the end zone and Goodman could not dislodge the ball. Here is what disturbs me. In his post game remarks CMR made some revealing comments. He has no plans to fire anyone, heck he didn’t say it, but we all know he has a long term deal and makes way more than Damon Evans. Its up to the high dollar booster to force this issue, else just like Slick Willie Clinton keeps coming back the other Willie will be back in Athens. What also disturbed me was when Stafford threw the first interception from our end zone. Richt stated, “I told him to throw it out of bounds if the play was not completely open, but I guess he didn’t see the LB standing on the goal line”? CMR needs to grow some backbone. Heck, Stafford should have been taken out right there. Playing Joe T will not do anything for UGA, except please his relatives. Playing Cox or Barnes when Stafford is making poor choices might inspire Cox or Barnes to stay and compete for the job in the Fall. Also, I hope all fans see Inman’s total lack of class when Raley got hurt. He stayed on the sideline rather than join the other 95 players who knelt around Raley and prayed. Once a jerk, always a jerk. The other issue no one is discussing is our place kicker. We gave this kid a scholarship to kick, or you kidding me. I watched him warming up for the 2nd half and he has lost all sense of self-confidence. He kicked a line drive while the team was running across the field and hit one of the players in the leg. On the extra point he kicked into the back of the O-line. Attention all soccer players, please show up at football practice on Monday. The Bailey’s should get their checkbook out and give us a refund. This kid will probably not make another kick the rest of his career. I will say this…the UK students stormed the field and took forever to tear down the one goal post, but their fans showed way more class to us than we probably deserved. I had several tell me this was UKs biggest win in 10 years. UGa fans are just spoiled. Our expectations are way too high according to them. They would take 6-4 and be happy.

how can u tell me i’m lying about most of the players being at a nightclub in downtown athens saturday night. obviously u dont know much about football because the team leaves AS SOON AS the game is over. they head straight back to Athens. Other people who actually know something about the team can attest to that. It is truly sad to see a group of guys who could care less about this loss and having the time of their life aftersuch a horrible loss. Danny Ware was drunk as hell and he was SOOOO happy. he was happy that he got a touchdown, as long as he got that TD. his day was a success. I deeply regret stealing wins against Colorado, Ole Miss, and Miss. State. With those three losses, perhaps everyone would realize that Mark Richt simply is not a good head coach. A trained seal probably could have won 10 games a year with the talent Georgia has had this decade. The fact that he has dropped one or two games to UT/UF/AU every single year is evidence that he simply is not an elite head coach. He does less with more than any coach I’ve ever seen. We were more competitive under Donnan with Goof’s recruits. We need someone like Bobby Johnson, who has turned a laughable program with no alumni or student support and barely 22 Div. I-A caliber players into a competitive team. We should fire Richt and, if he sues to try to enforce his contract, countersue him for fraud and negligent infliction of emotional distress. I’m sure he’s a nice guy, but there need to be some for-sale signs in his yard after this season.

Its interesting to read all of these comments, especially from the techies and the vols. You’d think that tech was constant contender. Isn’t this the first time they have contended for the ACC championship in years. And just look back to last year in Tenn. We have a lot of problems over in Athens. Let’s not call the morticians just yet, let’s call the veternarians. We still have two games left, what will be said if we somehow ended with an eight win season?

Ga. is trying to run the team as if it were a little league program where everyone must play, and noone gets their feelings hurt. This is the the SEC coach. Quit playing games with 3 or 4 running backs and 2 or 3 Qbs. Good players need to stay in the game and get their lather up,if you will. Changing backs every 3 or 4 plays is ridiculous. Make a decision and stick with it. Wouldn’t it be nice to see Coach Richt get p** just once? I would give anything to see him throw his visor just one time.

With all the bad things happening to us, and nothing to play for, I hope we get a miracle and upset Auburn. Of course, that would require the Lord give us His undivided attention!

UK is simply better than UGA this year, should have been favored. I’m nots sure Tech would beat UK at UK either, depends on which team showed up.

A friend of mine at work today said he saw something on ESPN regarding Richt and the Miami job. Did anyone see this? I knew that there were wild rumors out there about this so if anyone has heard anything let me know. As far as Saturday goes, I actually laughed after the game. I mean, how much worse can it get? If anybody can actuall think of an area in which we’ve gotten better this year please enlighten me. That goes for the coaches as well! I’m not going to point fingers because we’ve all said it a million times. Coaching, drops, blocking, catching, kicking, adjusting, etc. it has been p** poor this year. Top 5 recruiting classes don’t guarantee you squat, other than you have some quality athletes coming into your program. It’s up to the coaches at the point. Whether it’s motivation, progression, discipline, assignments, that all falls on the coaches. Yeah they can’t catch, block, tackle, pass, run for the players but who keeps trotting out these underperforming athletes? Who’s responsibility is it to prepare these kids in practice? Who’s responsibility to get these kids motivated and ready to play each week? Who’s responsibility is to make a gameplan and make necessary adjustments in that game plan? It’s become apparent to me that Cox is no longer considered to be in the running for QB job. He needs just as much experience as Stafford if they are seriously considering him as an option. He’s thrown 28 collegiate passes. Joe T has thrown almost 3 times that he missed essentially 4 games. I’m at a loss. I hope this isn’t a sign for things to come.

He never will, but, I really would like to see him throw his headset half way across the field.

GT fans making fun of the UGA program ? 51-7 ring a bell ? You haven’t beaten us without cheating in 16 years !!!!

We are having a bad year. We have a freshman QB with an OL that is not doing its job. Our D is not that bad when you consider what the offense is doing.

I hope MR opens up the QB competition next year with the following: Stafford Cox AJ Bryant

Teach Bryant the offense, redshirt Logan Gray and get us back to having a dual threat at QB like Shockley. Florida KNOWS DEEP DOWN IN PLACES THEY DON’T LIKE TO SPEAK ABOUT AT PARTIES that they are thankful and lucky they didn’t have to face DJ last year. That beatdown they got in Columbia would not have compared. Instead, they got to face punt protector III.

I have all the faith in the world in MR but I have ZERO faith in Stafford. By now, the game should have slowed down for him. It hasn’t.

I would have some fun this week and rotate Stafford and Cox on EVERY PLAY. Let the QB bring the play in from the sideline. Can’t be any worse.

TECH FANS. YOU BETTER PRAY THAT WE DON’T BEAT YOU IN THE SAME YEAR YOU GO TO THE ACC TITLE GAME WITH US HAVING LOST TO VANDY AND UK. PRESSURE ????????????????
