Talk about the UGA game

Georgia’s stunning loss to Vanderbilt — the first time that’s happened since 1994 — handed the Bulldogs’ their second straight loss at home.

What’s wrong with the Bulldogs? What happened out there today?

Losing to the Commodores? Are you kidding me? Our players looked indifferent and unmotivated. It’s the coaching staff’s responsibility to generate excitement and drive in the team so Coach Richt’s staff is to be fully blamed for this embarrassing loss. I’m still proud to be a Georgia Bulldog, but we should all realize that the 2006 season is a rebuilding year. Play Stafford and build the confidence and experience level necessary to compete in the SEC in the 2007 season

For one thing as I’ve said since before the season Stafford needs to be Georgia’s number one quarterback. The other thing is Richt almost seemed obsessed with the run too much at times today. Think all the talk about not running enought got to him. Problem is running game did them little good today despite some nice runs.

I just personally believe that this is a black mark on the program. To be honest,I cant tell you what the hell is wrong with Georgia. It seems like since the second half against Tennessee, Georgia has just fallen into a deep deep void right now. I have no idea what it’s going to take to get out of it.

Today the Georgia Bulldogs were Sofa King Pathetic. They should just take the rest of the season off this year and go back to the drawing board.

Milner can’t catch the ball; Lumpkin can’t hold onto the ball - they should both be benched.

But if the Bulldogs dress for the rest of the games this season, put Stafford in to get ready for next season. This season is over.

The Dawgs are a poor football team, but then we knew that earlier in the season with all of those “ugly” wins they had. Contrary to what some of you may think, “ugly” wins usually tell you that something is wrong, especially when you have several of them. This team is in serious trouble.

October 14, 2006 03:56 PM | Link to this

What’s wrong is that Mark Richt needs to stop calling plays and also fire Willie Martinez. The Defense never shows up when needed most and only manages to stop inferior opponents. I think Richt needs to realize that this team is never going to win a national title with him calling the plays and also needs to figure out how to better manage the game. I wish I knew how else to fix it, but right now this is just flat out disappointing. I knew we weren’t going to win the sec this year but losing to vandy at home is just plain unacceptable. GO DAWGS.

I was wrong and I will admit it. It is time to turn to Stafford. I thought we might lose 3 games this year but never was one of those losses Vandy. I can’t believe I just typed that. Vany beat us in Athens.

Two things happened today. The turn over by Lump and settling for field goals. The Staff needs to redirect the goals now and prepare for our 2008 run for the title and for the title we will win in 2009!

With all of UGA’s high school All Americans, it is obvious that they are not playing as a team but as individuals. This is 100% the coaching staff’s responsibility.

I am officially depressed. I cannot believe that our beloved Bulldogs lost to Vanderbilt. Who cares about Sonny Perdue? Our Dogs are in trouble. Okay, so we know that this season is pretty much done. I can understand losing to the Vols, Gators, and Tigers, but not Vanderbilt. I am not sure how long it will take me to get over this. Again, the defense was not impressive and the offensive suffered. I think that the Dog Nation has seen the last of Joe T III. We just as well of play Stafford and Cox because there is no need to see Joe T again. With 2 losses before Florida and Auburn, I can see at least three or four losses. This is depressing.

If I am writing the article, it reads something like this…

Dogs Fail to Become Bowl Eligible

The once proud Bulldogs fail again this week to become bowl eligible and chances are slipping away. Vanderbilt was considered the easiest team on the Dogs schedule and will now hope to pull off an upset against Mississipi State or Kentucky. With UGA all but guaranteed to lose 5 games, perhaps Willie Martinez will find a way to motivate his defense to make one key third down stop. If he is unable to do that, perhaps UTC will be looking for a secondary coach.

Georgia Needs To Play Ball Next on Sonny’s Do List

By SoCalDawg

October 14, 2006 04:04 PM | Link to this

Don’t be moronic and blame this on JT.

Our defense is ridiculously weak, shows no backbone, and Martinez has done NOTHING to indicate he deserves to keep his job. You can’t put your offense in the position of having to score 30 points to win a game every week. (which we aren’t gonna do against UF, AUB, or GT).

Our red-zone play continues to be horrible (as it has been throughout Richt’s reign). You have to put that on the coaching staff and play calling.

Bottom line: we were extremely over-rated and probably ain’t gonna finish this year ranked at all.

As much as I’ve defended JT, I think it’s time to play the freshman. JT might be smarter and more of a safe play, but the end result is the same. Let the young guy get some experience.

And damn it we should have gone for it on the 3. There was plenty of time left.

Please let this be a wake-up call for CMR. Fire Martinez and hire an OC! This completely rediculous to lose to Vandy! Everyone is talking about Auburn going in and killing FL because they are p** off about losing last week. Did you hear anyone saying that about UGA? No, because UGA does’t have any fire. Coach will “awe shucks” his way through another loss and we will come out flat again next week. I can watch the game and tell you that our soft zone will allow the QB to pick us apart and our offensive play calling will be a predictable as ever.

Well Richt, can we at least TALK about replacing Martinez? Last week was embarassing enought for the defense (41 points in the 4th quarter). Now we have an unmotivated UGA squad getting it handed to them by VANDY!?!? Don’t ignore the problem Richt, FIX IT!!! Replace Martinez with a BVG type coach, decide on a QB for the rest of the season (Stafford), play you best RB more (Lumpkin), and stop passing the ball when the running game is clearly working. Take a page out of the Steve Spurrier playbook and let Martinex answer for himself, rather than letting him sink your career. Unless there are some drastic changes, we can expect a 6-5 season at best. Welcome back to the Ray Goff Era. Now is the time to show the fans and your players why we chose you to be our head football coach. Earn your paycheck and get these guys ready to play Kentucky.

This just proves the point!! Coach Richt the time has come to revamp the offense, Florida is playing Tebow more, Stafford and Cox need more pt. Joe T is killin us, the defense is losing in the 4th. We still have Auburn, Florida left to play. At this point we need to look to the future and try to salvage the rest of the season. Timeout for Joe T and his fairy tale story, he is not getting it done. The receivers are not catching, the Dline is holding. My god we holes everywhere. Ole Miss could beat us.

Martinez should be out tonight. Richt should be out at the end of the season if he will not voluntarily relinquish offensive coordinator duties to a bonafide offensive genius. What is scary is that the team has actually gotten worse from the first games of the season, which is a major indicator of trouble. And frankly, the whole program appears to be stagnating or worse right now.

Lastly, where is Richt’s mastery at recruiting? Our receivers suck, the offensive line never seems to gel, Georgia has not had a good running game (or dominant player) in years (former “Tailback U”), etc. This is a mid-pack SEC program that will occassionally contend for and win the conference but that will NEVER have a shot at the national title.

By statesborodawgfan

October 14, 2006 04:13 PM | Link to this

Forgot to mention that we should have went for it on 4th down instead of letting Bailey attempt a field goal. Koutu has been the only reliable kicker on the team lately. Milner should not have dropped the touchdown pass. I think the players need some fire under them and I am sure Richt and the other coaches will bring it because to lose at home to Vanderbilt is horrible. UGA is not going to fire Richt because he is the best thing that has happened at UGA in the last 12-15 years. Don’t get all crazy over two losses. Look at the entire season before the coach is judged. I do not remember all of you screaming at the two SEC championship wins. I do agree that our defense has no bite and I think we need to recruit defensive players that can bring it. I am not sure Willie Martinez can handle the job though. I am sure he will have to take a lot of heat along with Coach Richt but UGA won’t get rid of Richt based on what happens this season.

This game only confirmed what the Colorado, Ole Miss and Tennessee games revealed: the Dawgs simply are not very good this year. Down years have happened to Oklahoma, Penn State, Florida, Florida State, Auburn, Miami, Ohio State (8-4 two years after 14-0 NC season) and Michigan in recent years, so I don’t know why Georgia would be immune.

The nucleus is there for some great seasons to come.

Those bloggers attacking Gov. Perdue are missing the point, Coach Richt was brought here to win, before he’d only lose to Florida, Auburn & Tennessee…now that UGA has lost to Vandy, so should Coach Richt! I posted last week about how terrible his play calling was in big games but more distressingly the lack of a defensive coaching staff. Martinez should be fired immediately! He is worst than VanGorder, and Coach Ritch should lose the ability to call plays on offense! The season is a total loss, I can’t bring myself to watch this team anymore. In D.C. everyone has some pride in their team…what do I have to claim for UGA? Who has an address to write Coach Richt and Martinezs? Let’s start a campaign to get these two failures out of UGA!!!!

The funny thing is Vanderbilt did not need the top rated QB’s or the any of those top ten recruiting classes from the last few years to totally destroy the mutts. Face reality, your team will not even be that good next year either. You have QB problems, receiver problems, your OL will need help next year, your defense will need a lot of help next year. The only shining spot on your team is the special teams. UGA is in decline.

we still do not have a QB. we still do not have a RB. Thank you for being so indecisive CMR!! We were not so indecisive when we decided to give you a long term contract for $2 million per year. But if you are not going to be as decisive as we are paying you to be, then maybe we are not going to be so decisive anymore about maintaining you as the highest paid employee in the state. maybe if we just had one QB and one RB, we would be far more consistent and we would streamroll people despite our overhyped Defense. There was nothing shocking about this defeat. I would not even label it an upset. I would rather label it inevitable and based upon the past games this year predictable. Maybe it was a good thing the schedule was so weak this year. Hopefully, we will at least be bowl eligible this year despite the p** poor performance of CMR. Thank the schedule makers if the dawgs make the bowl games. But who really wants to go to a bowl game and get embarrassed anyway?

wow, losing the the vols and vandy the same year? ya know, with your penchant for soft scheduling, uga is lucky they didnt also have to play memphis and ut-chattanooga or they coulda really been 0-fer-tennessee. seriously though, there are alot of parallels between this dog (of a) team and last years vol team, primarily lack of competent qb play and horrific offensive coordinating. thankfully, we took care of both of our problems…lets see if the ‘coach formerly known as an offensive genius’ can do the same at uga. as an atlanta resident, having to listen to dog blather all year, im feeling pretty pleased now…all i can say is, ‘karma is a bitc*’.

I saw richt when he came to savannah to talk to the quarterback club. I was not impressed. He had an arogant, I know better than you demeanor. so I doubt he will make any changes. As far as being a great coach, no way. How many times has he beaten florida and auburn. And what about the mess that was the sugar bowl last year. Totally outcoached. 5 minutes to go and up by one pt, 3rd and 11(because of aj’s dropped pass), and CMR calls a run off the center and we make 2 yds. Someone explain this lunacy to me. Richt’s wonderful record is getting worse each week. The “best coach since Dooley” will have a winning percentage lower than Donnan’s by the end of the season at this rate.

This game was pathetic. After the loss to Tennessee last week Georgia should have come out fired up but they looked like they wanted to be anywhere else but at Sanford Stadium. Why even defer to the second half if we are going to turn the ball over in the first possession of the second half? (two weeks in a row!)There needs to be some changes made and made quickly. First, get a new defensive coordinator. Martinez cannot motivate the the defense. I wished that it were possible to reincarnate Erk Russell today. Martinez proved last week that he is unable to make adjustments at the half. Try to get Muschamp at Auburn or woo Brian Van Gorder back to UGA. Second, make Stafford or Cox the starting QB. I love the contributions that the Tereshinski family has made to the program over the years but let’s face it-Joe III is NOT a starting quarterback. Third, bench some of these players who cannot or will not catch or block and put some players in there who will at least try, even if they are freshmen. There is no excuse for the team to come out flat nearly every week. If these players do not want to play, put in some who do.

It is time for us all to admit that we are a second tier SEC football team and nothing more. Coaches don’t make tackles, run, block or throw. But the buck stops with them. You folks have lived a charmed life for many years. This could not happen to a more deserving group of people.

Not only do you folks have an overinflated view of yourselves, but you have neglected in scheduling one important thing. You have invested yourselves so much in this SEC is great stuff for so long, you have not prepared yourselves to play an SEC schedule with your non-conference games.

You need to play tough teams outside of the State of Georgia to make your team battle-hardened. Everybody else in the SEC has done it. Even Georgia Tech has done it.

    Why can’t you folks?

This should be a wake-up call for you. But you folks are smart enough to see it.

Is it really that big a surprise? I mean, yes, Georgia has not lost to Vandy since 1994; but this Vandy team is not bad. Couple that with the fact that this Georgia “team” is not that good, and there you go. In fairness, the defense did not play that bad. The DAWGS lost by two, and think of this…Milner drops a touchdown, Dawgs can’t convert two pt conversion, and Andy Bailey missed a short field goal.

Georgia lacks depth all over the place, but mostly on the offensive line. The defense in inconsistent. The special teams have been less than special.

Martinez is not a defensive coordinator. No defensive sacks in the game. If we are going to lose, I would rather see us lose being aggressive on defense. Mark Richt is a great head coach, but in five and half seasons at Georgia, he has not figured out how to score touchdowns in the RED ZONE consistently. (LOOK BACK AT STAGNANT OFFENSES IN THE SEC, Auburn brings in Al Borges, Tenn brings in Cutcliffe) maybe Richt needs another point of view on the offense.

Georgia has won consistently in the Mark Richt era with good offense and great defense. Since the defense isn’t great and Richt cannot find creative ways into the end zone, this will be the way of mediocrity until something changes.

CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM FROM A LEVEL HEADED DAWG FAN TIL DEATH.

Defense? What is defense? I don’t think anybody on the defense is worth a damn. We couldn’t force Tennessee to punt in the second half and we only forced Vandy to punt once. This is absolutely ridiculous. Richt needs to grow a set on offense and go for it. Field goals don’t win us games, these lose them.

This coaching staff has lost this team and I would say at least the Receivers coach and Martinez needs to go. MR is too conservative in his offensive play calling. Settling for field goals against Vanday at home??? I never thought I would see that. JoeT should not start again. Not that he lost the game today, but after losing to UT and Vandy with UFA, AUB and GT left, there is nothing left to salvage from this season. Kentucky is improved and may beat us as well. This is pathetic.

Please somebody tell Richt this is not Tball. Everyone doesn’t have to play. Settle on a RB and WRs and QB so they can get in sync for the future. We are not rebuilding if we don’t allow Stafford to take his lumps and gain experience.

UGA should fall out of the top 25, we don’t deserve to be ranked. I really thought this team would come out today and demonstrate that last week was an illusion. Instead, they managed to look far worse.

It is pretty depressing to watch third down situations with this poorly coached defensive team. When I see three red jerseys 5 - 10 yards off the receiver, the only receiver in the area catching the ball for not only Vandy, but the same thing with Colorado. You hope that there will be improvement week to week, but this is not happening with UGA. Watched the Vandy head coach in the last quarter after the punter for them punted for 5 yards, just eating the offensive team out on the sideline. He put some spark into their offense and we all see the results. Vandy is not a bad football team, this is not the Vandy we used to covet for homecoming. However, this is also not the UGA defense. I have been with UGA since the 1950’s and have never seen the defense look this bad. Martinez does not belong in Division 1A coaching a team that has put many defensive stars in the NFL. Beginning of the season all we heard was how we had the best tandem of defensive ends in the country. Guess what, one of them is playing his butt off, the other one that was touted to be a top five pick, don’t think so. Losing is one thing, giving up is another. Being poorly coached on the defensive side week after week, not acceptable.

I agree 100% with Honest Broker. I have felt the same the past several years. Scheduling teams like UAB, Louisiana Monroe, or Western Kentucky does not help us against the likes of Florida or Auburn and makes the players and fans think the team is better than it really is. I would like to see Georgia play a home-and-home series with Notre Dame, Michigan, or even Southern Cal. That would get the fan base excited and might even help our recruiting. In 1965, my dad went to the Athens airport to see the ‘65 Georgia team fly in after the huge upset against Michigan in Ann Arbor. He said the airport was mobbed with excited fans.

Calm down pups. We’re still the best team in Georgia by far! CMR is just sneaking up on the Gators, Auburn, And the Bees. Everything is fine—there’s no way we lose 5 games this year.Dont forget, every football player worth a damn wants to play for the Dawgs—particularly in Georgia. If they dont, then to hell with them, we’ll be national champs next year!!!!

Bulldog supporters need to realize this is a challenging year. The season will be about improving and developing the personnel. Observations:

    (1) Time to develop Matthew Stafford as your QB or risk him transferring elsewhere. He is the real deal and any team in America would love to have him.

    (2) Coach Richt is the right man for the job. (2 SEC Championships since he got here vs. none in the previous 20). Nobody likes the fact that the team is struggling. Thank goodness nobody comes down to your job and critiques you when you face challenging times.

I’m not a Georgia native; however, over the 15 years that I have lived here I have become a big fan of the Dawgs. With that being said, I am truly disappointed with the performance that Georgia displayed today against Vandy. This is supposed to be a legitimate “big time” program. Regardless of who’s the quarterback is—Georgia should NOT be losing to the Vandys of the world, and barely beating teams like Colorado and Ole Miss. Ohio State won a national championship a few years back with Craig Krenzel at the helm—Craig who? Mark Richt was brought here with the notion that Georgia would now hold-their-own against the Vols and the Gators. They still loose to Florida every year, and the wins against Tennessee seem to have come at a time when the Vols were having “down” years. I am still a Richt fan, but it just seems like Georgia lacks the “punch” that Miami had when they were winning titles, that USC had during their reign, and that current #1 Ohio State possess. Even during the SEC Championship years—it just seems like they were never really that dominant. Hopefully things will get better before the get worse, but I am really starting to wonder recent success in Richt era was nothing more than an anomaly.

    T. Slay - you are so right. When is the last time Georgia travelled outside the Southeast to play a top program on the road….my research says 1965 in Michigan as you mentioned. Auburn and Arkansas play USC, Tennessee plays Notre Dame and Cal, Vandy plays Michigan….who does Georgia consistenly play…nobody. And quit crying about the tough SEC…he!!, Wake Forest kicked Ole Miss’s butt in Oxford and they are the one of the bottom feeders of the ACC. Show some guts Georgia..sign up for a home and home with Notre Dame or USC or West Virginia or Texas…I know you won’t do it…gutless

I am not ready to say fire Mark Richt. I still think that he is the right man for this program, but I do hope that he takes a hard look at this staff at season’s end. Here is what I know: 1) Our O-line is horrible and has no depth. I’m scared about next year’s line already. 2) Our receivers are not getting any better. 3) Our scheme on defence lately has been a little frustrating…I hate to say give up on a season, but I do think that we should go with Stafford for every snap the rest of the year, I think that we need to start playing all the O-linemen that will be returning next year a lot more than we have been. Lord I hope that we are recruiting O-line hard. I hope that we can make some head-way with these receivers. Let’s take a look at Chandler and Ward at TE already. Let’s make sure that Moreno is picking up the blitz package on the scout team and will be ready to contribute next year. Let’s play Byrd more at safety and go ahead and play Jones some too. I really feel like our play at the safety positions has really hurt this team much harder than most realize. I like Coach Martinez, but not as a D-cordinator. I would like to bring in someone a little more agressive. I really miss Van Gorder. I do wish that Richt would take a look at letting Eason and Callaway go at year end. I think they are a huge part of the problem with our 2 biggest problem areas : O-line and Receivers. I think that we need to make a pitch to get Muschamp to come back home and be our D-cordinator. I’d love to steal Brad Scott from Clemson to coach our line and make him the O-Cordinator. I know it is wishful thinking, but that is what I would like to see. BUT, all that said I will love my Dawgs no matter what and root for whomever they put out there. GO Dawgs!!!!!!

    October 14, 2006 05:10 PM | Link to this

To all of you who want to fire Richt because of one down year: Shame on you! He is one of the winningest active coaches right now, and has led us to two SEC championships. I think this game makes him realize, though, that he’s got to make some changes and stop trying to please people because he likes them. For a starter list, we need: a new defensive coordinator, a set starter at QB (Stafford), an offensive coordinator, a new O-line coach, and a new receivers coach. We have talent, but we’re not utilizing it, and that’s a coaching problem. We also need to start looking to next year now that we’ve lost our chance at the SEC, and that means starting Stafford and anyone else that needs experience for next year, and sitting seniors that just aren’t that good. This is a rebuilding year. Let’s do some rebuilding.

remember UT season last year and, the past 8…not good. how many SEC championship games have Tenn been in in the past 8 seasons? remember FLA and their losses to South Carolina and miss State in recent years. How long has it been since FLA or TENN have even played in the championship game? UGA HAS WON 2 since either team has even been to the game. I think coach MARK RICHT is one hell of a Coach. His record at UGA stands for itself.

However, the players are in place to win games, but the scheme is not. Martinez must be replaced….to many players are out of position too often. Stafford is the best QB we have on the team now….so play him. as for the season you old dawg fans remember the 1985 season when FLA was 8-0 and #1 in the polls and UGA went down there with an average team and won 24-3. It’s never over till it’s over! GO DAWGS! a fan for ever! and a Mark Richt supporter…lets don’t become arogant like YANKEE, TENN & FLA fans we only hear from these guys when they are winning. And in recent years sitting on sofa’s watching others play for CHAMPIONSHIPS! and for you TECHMITES you were ready to fire chan gailey at the end of last season and now he is the man @ the north avenue trade school. Yell and scream while you can because you dream will end soon just like the past 36 years. Great example of a typical tech fan…

That’s like saying if Georgia won all their games they would play for the national championship. WHAT IF’S don’t translate in to wins and losses. The fact is, Georgia has had dropped balls, and played poor defense all season. The coache’s job is to prepare the players for game day. If the players are not executing then you are absolutely right—it’s the coach’s fault. When you are making 2 million dollars to coach an SEC program, you become accountable for wins and losses—period.

Matthew Stafford proved today that HE IS THE MAN! I don’t understand why he was taken out in the 1st. half. Then when we get deep, we run, run, pass. TE drops TD pass. Stafford was in control of that game today UNTIL HIS OWN COACH TOOK IT AWAY AND THE DAWGS LOST! I question the talent level and abilities of Ga. players. If they are talented then we have some real coaching problems. Play Stafford not to throw away this season, no , concentrate on what he can do so we may have a chance to win a couple of games. I don’t think there’s anything anyone can say because Martinez must be there to stay. A sad day for the Dawgs and there was no reason for it except for coaching.

I think you folks calling for Richt’s head are ignorant. Play calling, here and there, will lead to mistakes. Dropped balls, fumbles, broken plays caused by communication and blocked punts are the faults of the players.

Georgia has the talent to win-out the rest of their schedule, but they won’t because they aren’t playing with any heart.

They’ve played half-a*******ed any time they figured they were in the driver’s seat - especially in the 2nd half last week. For their lesser opponents, they’ve played only when necessary… but the clock smacked them today.

Each player needs a swift kick in their @$$ and play smash-mouth football for the rest of the season.

I’m afraid Martinez is drinking from the same well that Calloway has been drinking from for years. The O line has been consistently inconsistent ever since coach C has been there. (I still don’t understand why Cox and Ware aren’t getting a chance to perform. For the most part their performances have been better than any who have played.) The D line looks slow and the secondary looks lost. It’s hard to finish the drill when your coach is being out coached. CMR will find himself in trouble if he doesn’t deal with these two!!

We are lacking Leadership in several areas. Joe T. is a leader, but he can’t play. I have seen no leaders on the defensive side of the ball. Is Q. Moses hurt. He has not even been close to a sack in weeks. May just been snake-bit this year.

Longtimedawg - since 1997, TN has played in four SEC Championship games - 1997, 1998, 2001, 2004 - winning two (97 and 98) and losing in 01 and 04. Record is the same as GA over that period so maybe you want to check your facts before you bark. TN has one NC during that time - how many does GA have in that period?

During times of crisis, character is not made, it’s revealed. Funny how a couple of losses makes everything’s peachy to fire the coach. Never heard any complaints about Richt until the last week. If he wasn’t the problem before then, he is not the problem now. The Dawgs and their fans true colors are showing again. THAT’S why I dislike the UGA fans. Fair weather fans through and through. At least I can respect someone that supports their team win or lose.

I was at the game today and was shocked by the choices made by our defensive coordinator on the last drive. Earl Bennett is the best receiver in the SEC. Yet, on third and 5 at mid-field, we didn’t put anyone on top of him. He ran a bubble screen and easily picked up thei third down. I’m pointing it out to my wife before it even happens, even though I’m sitting two rows from the top. Next series, third and five again. They flip the formation, run the same play. Bennett is uncovered again. He drops the ball, luckily, even though they convert on 4th. When we call for a change in defensive coordinators, that is what we are talking about. There is apparently no learning, no changing. We have our schemes. If you figure it out before the end of the game, you win, we lose.

The same is true on offense. There is no aggressiveness at all. Red zone, third and long? It’s a sprint draw. At least 80% of the time. Why? It might break, but it won’t get intercepted. We can always kick the FG. Everybody in the SEC knows it. That’s the reason that the sprint draw doesn’t work.

We have to make some structural changes. I am a Mark Richt fan. I think he is the best head coach we have ever had. But he has to face the music. We are playing way below what we are capable of.

I am with the rest of the crew who are calling for Stafford to play. Who can we beat the rest of the way? Mississippi State? We should, but I thought we’d win this one. Kentucky? They have a mobile quarterback. We play at KY. Florida, Auburn, Tech? Man, I hate myself for even thinking it, but we are underdogs in 4 of the last 5. How is that possible with our talent and recruiting? It has to go back to coaching.

It is time to play the kids and turn them loose. No more conservative offense and confused defense. (By the way, we ended up with no time on the clock at the end of the game because we had to use a time-out on defense. Two consecutive plays, Vandy lined up and our defense was so confused they were unable to even get in a stance. The first play luckily went only 3 yards, mostly due to a bad spot by and official (It looked to go 7). The second play we had to call time-out. Those things add up. It came back to bite us. They watched the clock run down to five. That’s coaching.

It is time to sit Milner. I’m sure he is our best option. I’m not against the kid, I’m friends with one of his HS coaches. But he has dropped too many critical passes. Let Chandler learn with Stafford. Milner will go on to make millions in the NFL. He will wow them at the combine. Let Stafford throw those darts during practice enough that the kids learn to catch with their hands. AJ Bryant had two go through his hands. There is at least a 20 MPH difference between JT3 and MS. Maybe catching all of them from Stafford in practice will make a difference.

I still have one question that no one seems willing to face: How is it that we have four scholarship QB’s and only seven scholarship linemen for five positions?

Given a few catches, some flexibility on defense, and some continuity of personnel on offense, this team can compete with anyone on the schedule. We can beat FL, AUB, and Tech. But not in the direction that we are going.

It all comes down to Richt being responsible for what happens on the field. Georgia should never lose at home to Vanderbilt. I am not sure that Richt has control of his players. What is that triangle symbol that M. Milner did with his hands after he scored the touchdown. Is that some type of gang symbol or something? I have seen other players do the same thing before. There is too much talent on this team to be playing like we are playing and that goes back to coaching. Something has to change.

One last comment before I am gone for the night- One glaring problem that was apparent today and in the last several games was that Georgia did not play cohesively as a team. They played more like a group of individuals. This will get you beat nearly every time. I agree with several posters that there is a lack of leadership, emotional and otherwise, on this team. In the 80’s, UGA wore t-shirts that said “TEAM” in big letters at the top with “me” in small letters underneath. Maybe Coach Richt needs to resurrect this idea to teach some of the players to put their egos to the side for the sake of the team.

I know GTech isn’t Temple. That is why I didn’t have us scoring 69 points and you scoring only 10. That said, once the game is done, you will know who the better team is and I can tell you ahead of time, but you won’t believe me - CLEMSON!

Even in our loss to BC, we outplayed them in almost every facet of the game (special teams bit us in the @$@#@#). At Wake, folks keep saying how Wake had us beat - but when you look at the stats, we owned them in that game - defensively and offensively. Turnovers bit us in the @#$#$ in that game.

Now GTech might get lucky and we might implode on special teams, but don’t count on it. It will be an exhibition of how to manhandle your opponent. GTech, while not Temple, you are not a top 25 team either.

Stafford took someting off of it like so many of you have been screaming and he drops it? I listened to the post game show to see if our leader, CMR would show some emotion?? Nice cliches CMR….gotta give credit to Vandy….are you freaking kidding me?? There QB tried to give us the game along with the freshmen punter from Griffin who shanked the last punt giving us the ball on the freaking 32 yard line?? We have 3 Senior LBs who have been missing in action the last 2 or 3 games. The interception that Taylor got was thrown a foot behind the receiver. I ask again, where is the leadership on this team? CMR needs to rip the “C” off a few jerseys on Monday. Put out an MIA for Moses. Give Terrashitty the clipboard and put him back on the punting unit. What do we have to gain continuing to play him? Nice choice CMR on the Hula staff….what a joke we have become. I think have some problems that may go beyond coaching, playcalling, mistakes, etc. For the past two weeks now I’ve read post game comments from our players like “they just wanted it more”, “they just came out and took it”, etc. That concerns me more than fumbles, interceptions, mised field goals and the like. Richt stresses that the team unity is still intact, but now I’m really starting to wonder. Maybe all this re evaluating of the positions from week to week is taking it’s toll on morale and unity. Keep fighting dawgs…it’s all about pride…just don’t let anybody else want it more than you do…if you lose you lose…but don’t go down like that. The fans love you, the state loves you, other teams want to be you, and you’re always the best dressed team. Sick Em!

In my 47 years, four as a Redcoat Band member, I’ve seen great wins and horrible losses, but I have never been embarrassed to be a Georgia fan until now. At this point, the rest of the season just became meanigless. I cannot bring myself to care.

Our Matador Defense (“Ole’! please run by me again, senor!”) let one of the worst teams in the country run all over us all damn day long without an adjustment, showing little or no emotion anywhere along the way. Joe T and Stafford actually had decent days if you just look on paper, but our offense had absolutely no punch whatsoever. Three-and-out. One first down and punt. Fumble. Listless and pathetic.

Georgia will be lucky to finish with a .500 season.

I don’t understand the comments of letting Stafford play the rest of the year. What has he shown? He isn’t very good either. I would try and play all three of them, Barnes, Cox and Stafford and let them all get experience for next year and hope one of them becomes a leader. Stafford is talented, but not a leader and so far, not a very good quarterback.

LavDog - I understand your dismay and diappoint. Living a lie that is UGA football all these years thinking your team is in the top elite teams - just to find out it is mediocre at best.

As far as the SEC vs ACC is concerned - let’s see how each conference fares in their bowl games. Just b/c Florida beats LSU and Auburn beat Florida and Tennessee loses to Florida and Tennessee beats UGA - that doesn’t mean jack in terms of conference strength. When the ACC does this, everyone says the conference is weak. Same goes for the SEC!

Again - let the out of conference play tell the true story.

The SEC has 4 good, top 25 teams (Florida, Auburn, Ark, and Tenn). The ACC has 3 good, top 25 teams (GTech, Clemson, and BC).

I don’t see that much difference in either actually. Now the PAC 10 and Big 10 seem to be the most loaded football conferences as of late when it comes to quality opponents.

I believe dawgfan has a valid point. It also bothered me when the players said after the game that “Vandy wanted it more” or “they came out and took it.” Georgia lacks the killer instinct. I wish that Pat Dye would make comments questioning the manhood of Georgia players like he did in 2002. That lit a fire under the 2002 team and probably helped them win the SEC championship. I like and respect Coach Richt a lot and I think he is great for the program. I know he had a rough off-season with his wife’s illness (God bless her), but he needs to read the riot act to some of the players and perhaps bench some of the non-producers.

We have no chance to win with Joe T as quarterback. Play Stafford now and shoulder him with the load. He can handle it. Also, to the people that think that Stafford throws too hard, go back qand look at tapes of Stafford in high school. His receivers were catching every ball that he threw. ALso, hire an offensive coodinator and a new defensive coordinator. Our play calling is terrible(If I see a shotgun draw on 3rd and 11 again I will lose it), and our defense is awful. Calling Will Muschamp, Calling WIll Muschamp.

Although he hasn’t been great, Joe T isn’t the problem…the problem is the Dawg defense giving up 75 points in the last 8 quarters.

Although the loss to Vandy is a shock, I don’t really understand why the results of this UGA team comes as such a surprise. They haven’t been consistent enough on offense, they needed a near-miracle to beat a horrible Colorado team, struggled against a hapless Ole Miss team, and really got hammered against Tennessee once Ainge got into a rhythym.

But I really think it’s unfair to pin yesterday’s loss on Joe T. Stafford is going to be an amazing QB, but we have to face the fact that he’s just not quite ready. If he was ready, Richt would not be playing quarterback shuffle all season. There has been too much pressure put on Richt from fans to put the “hot shot” freshman out there to help save the day…when the primary problem is, THIS FREAKIN DEFENSE CANNOT STOP AN OFFENSE THAT HAS HALF A PULSE…

I can’t seem to find UGA in the Polls today…and what’s wrong with being ranked in the TOP 27 in the Country—right Sonny (Mizza Gov, Sir).

I also heard a rumor that Jesus was born in Athens (GA) but they couldn’t find three wise men and ONE virgin—especially on a Saturday night!!

Get Bubba (Joe T.) outta the lineup and tell DIDDY Bubba and GRANDDIDDY Bubba to shove it!!—but Coach Richt is too nice and too much of a Christian.

OK UGA fans…don’t let me down…I’m looking for the www.firemarkricht.com website…where is it?

COACH DOOLEY, instead of Vandy on the schedule next year… could we get Eastern KY Women’s Teachers College? Good Golly, you’ve gotten us Western KY, UAB, COLO, Ga. Southern, c’mon Boy!

We will be trying for our FIFTH victory—-HEY don’t say FIFTH in front of ODELL!

UGA deserves what it gets—-in a NICE WAY MiZZA Gov.!!!…and its what UGA VI unloads!!

Most of you on this blog must be too young to remember beyond 10 years ago. Look throughout history, like over the last 50 years. You will see that THIS Georgia team is right in-line with the Georgia history. But you young fans have been spoiled. This IS reality. This IS the REAL Georgia football program, as history proves.

So DEAL WITH IT and GET USED TO IT!!!

Smokeydog, that is probably one of the dumbest things I have ever heard. YOu have no clue what the “real” Georgia football program is like. Unreal.
