Adams apologizes to Dooley
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Georgia president Michael Adams apologized to former football coach and athletic director Vince Dooley for comments he made in a guest editorial about athletics and academics.
Dooley was particularily upset Adams had written, “For some time, the philosophy at UGA was ‘athletic eligibility,’ not graduation. ” Adams said Thursday he should have chosen different words.
In his own guest editorial before Adams apologized, Dooley said he resented “the finger-pointing in this crisis.”
What’s your take on the dialogue between the school president and the retired legendary coach? Do you admire Dooley for speaking up? How about Adams for apologizing?
Or should Dooley stay out of it and should Adams choose his words more carefully? Is all of this embarrassing to the university ?
