The backups such as norwood, t.j. jackson, leake, newton all looked good. Losing the game was not a factor to me considering this game was based on getting a final look at some of the backups before cuts are made. I like what i see, and i feel that we are more than ready for carolina.

I am more happy with Norwood every time I see him touch the ball, I can tell you.

Considering the starters didn’t get much time on the field…i was impressed with the first drive and how the defense played in the first quarter.
However…i had heard all week that the starters were playing at least the first half. I appreciate Mora going with his gut and letting the guys rest and avoid injury, but that’s the NFL…injuries happen.
As a season ticket holder, i felt we got less than our money’s worth.
If you want to do that again…be sure the last preseason game is away….

This is the season Mora must prove he is a head coach and not just the owner of a gimmick offense.

I like this team. I think the players they picked up on Defense, not only are quality players, but replace very poor players so even if they underachieve….. they are better than what they replaced. If they overachieve, the division could be there’s and the 1st 2 games give them the opportunity to take a huge lead ( or deficit) before things get started good.
I think the Ducket trade can only help, mainly because more touches for 28 are obviously a plus to everyone except our staff and fans. Dunn will have a huge year. When Vick, who at times I question, answers my questions and the masses demotion from greatest athlete on the planet to below average QB the Falcons may be the top team in the NFC…… I think he does and I think this is a winner. It starts soon I like Atl over the Panthers around 23-20 then home to top Tampa 24-20. 2-0 to start the division?????? then how good are they??????

The Jacksons (Grady and TJ) look really good plugging up the middle, they are gonna make the defense much better. The 2 big holes we have remaining on the team are #2 cornerback (Jimmy Williams looks like he needs another year of college) and, as usual, offensive line (you can’t continue to bring in bargain-basement players and expect them to play well for 16 games). Overall though, it’s a team with a lot of talent and depth at the skill positions (Norwood looks like a poor man’s Reggie Bush). I’m guessing they lose Week 1 @CAR, Week 7 vs PIT, Week 8 @CIN, Week 11 @BAL, Week 14 @TB, and Week 15 vs DAL, leaving them with a 10-6 record and probably winning a wild-card spot. Maybe a little disappointing considering the skill level on the team, but that’s what you gotta expect when you don’t spend any draft picks higher than the 5th round on offensive linemen.

I know that the Falcons will beat Carolina! And they’re gonna beat the Bucs, in the Dome! Go down to New Orleans and beat the Saints!

The second unit defense did really well starting the game. Schaub looked good on that first drive, best he’s looked this preseason. Norwood could very well turn out to be the steal of the draft. If he can continue to progress in this offense, and I don’t see a reason why he shouldn’t barring major injury, I think our running game will be more dangerous than in the previous two years when they lead the league. We appear to have quality depth at key positions this year. Now it’s just a matter of preparation and avoiding key injuries. I do not make won/loss predictions because the NFL is very unpredictable, but I will say that I am excited about our chances this year.

One other thing I forgot to mention. Shockley has impressed me with his awareness of what’s going on around him as the play is developing. He has great instincts and a quickness that I didn’t know he possessed, not to mention a very decent arm. He throws accurately on the move and looks very poised in the pocket. He appears to have the tools to have a long and successful NFL career.

The game didn’t mean anything since it was just backups. I do, however, feel the falcons will be 10-6 or 11-5 this season barring the injury bug does no more damage this season.

That other Ryan is not me, and is also obviously not all there.
Last year’s team was eight and eight with extensive defensive injuries. THis year’s team has added several players, lost nothing critical, and, at the moment, uninjured. Why would that lead to going from 8 - 8 DOWN instead of up?
I bet he is a disgruntled TO fan who is upset we didn’t take him. .

WE ARE HEADED TO THE SUPER BOWL!!!!! WE FINISH THE REGULAR SEASON AT 13-3 NFC SOUTH CHAMPS, NFC CHAMPS, NFL CHAMPION!!! What will the critics say then??????? GO DIRTY BIRDS. All of this is true if we mitigat the injury bug.

I’m quite amazed that so many of the Atlanta faithful have come to believe that our lads are legitimate Super Bowl contenders. I don’t see it! What I’ve seen is a team with little consistency on offence and none on defence. The fellow directly preceeding has said the Falcons will have a record of 13-3 and will go to the Super Bowl. I tend to think he has those numbers juxtaposed. It appears the more likely tabulation will be three wins and thirteen losses. I wish our fellows well but, in my estimation, the talent is not there to have a truly magnificent winning season.

My opinion is that we win the Division. Norwood wins Rookie of the year, and MV7 shows great poise in the passing game. And yes, we stop the run.

I’m cautiously optimistic. The good: we’ll have the #1 rushing game again this year barring major injuries. Bring Norwood in the game when opposing D’s are a bit spent and watch the magic happen. Two quick cuts , a burst and he’s gone. Coaches & Vick will let Vick be Vick. No more “prove I can pass from the pocket” mentality. Instincts will take precedence over convention and when Super7 senses a crease/wrinkle or is escaping the rush like Houdini it’ll be highlight film time. The pass game will be highlights and disasters - feast or famine and probably within the same game. By years end, if MV7 stays healthy (a scary if), the pass game will be running smoothly and opposing D’s will be exhausted trying to keep up with our 3 first round wide-outs and Alge. If they can keep up with all that speed, throw D. Hall in there for a few routes just to screw with their minds and their legs. The D’birds will, without a doubt, be fun to watch even when they occasionally self-destruct.
Some question marks: Webster/Williams. Hartwell/Beck. Is Grady in shape and Too big? Will Roddy bring it on? Will the O-line protect MV7? Will MV7 lay on the field for two minutes and scare the cr*p out of us even when he’s not hurt? Will he actually get hurt? Will our coaching staff call the proper plays at the right time? Will our new collection of talented ex-disgruntled players turn into a three headed T.O. somewhere down the line? There’s more but my brain is about to explode. I won’t freak if Carolina beats us though. Or even if we lose the first two ‘cause we’re on a steep learning curve to start this season. Prediction: Falcons will ultimately do no worse than 2nd in our division and make it to the NFC play-off game. Maybe even Miami. I hope so.

I have been watching Jerious play since he was in elementary school. We are so proud of him and cannot wait to see him in a Super Bowl, a Pro Bowl, and in Canton, Ohio. SIT BACK AND ENJOY!!!!!!!!!!
