Terrapins snap back
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Maryland breathed life into its fading NCAA hopes Sunday with a 72-60 win over Duke. The Terrapins settled down after a slow start to send the Blue Devils to their fourth straight loss, the longest skid for a Duke team in 11 years.
The win pushes Maryland to an 18-7 win overall and 4-6 in the ACC, the same as Georgia Tech. Wednesday’s game at N.C. State could determine the fate of the Terps, who have been an enigmatic team all season.
A number prognosticators have the ACC pegged for eight NCAA berths, with Maryland riding the bubble. Which ACC teams would you put in your bracket if you were filling one out today?

I watch games involving teams from various conferences, but not enough to judge first hand which conference is toughest. But I will say that, although the ACC doesn’t have multiple Top-10 teams as in past years, it does have quality from top to bottom (except Miami and Wake) and is a very tough league. UNC, BC, UVa, and VPI are in. Clemson and Duke seem to be doing their best to play their way out after strong starts, but will probably make it. Everyone counted Maryland out a week ago, but I think they’ll make it even with a 7-9 ACC mark, especially if they can win the first round in the ACC Tourney (for 22 overall wins, including some nice out-of-conference road wins). FSU and GT are on thin ice and may be NIT-bound. NCSU had a great win against UNC, but will be out of the post-season, along with cellar dwellers Miami and Wake.
