Rebels catching on
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
After knocking off Alabama on Saturday, Ole Miss is tied with the Crimson Tide with a 5-5 record in the SEC West. More importantly, the Rebels are making a serious bid for NCAA tournament consideration with a 16-8 record and an RPI of 55.
First-year coach Andy Kennedy may be doing the most surprising job in the SEC. On Saturday, the Rebels played before a school record home crowd of 9,452 and have already clinched their first winning seasons in five years.
Which SEC teams do you have listed as being NCAA-worthy? Does Ole Miss merit a look, or do they still have some work remaining?

IMHO, if bids were handed out today, the following SEC teams would be “in”:
Florida, Kentucky, Vanderbilt, Tennessee and Alabama.
Current bubble team “maybes”:
Georgia & Ole Miss.
UGA and Ole Miss can still play their way “in,” and ‘Bama, Vandy and Tennessee can still play their way “out.” It’s that close for 5 of 7 SEC bid contenders; only the Gators and ‘Cats could lose virtually all of their remaining games and still get bids.
The SEC could place as many as 4 teams in the NCAAs; the West as many as 3, if 3 actually emerge from the pack over the next two weeks.

I still do not understand why ESPN’s mock bracket does not have the Rebs even mentioned as a bubble team. Are they not blind? They even have Georgia, a team that nearly lost to Kennesaw State last night and a handfull of other games, as an 11th seed. No disrespect to the dogs since I grew up a UGA fan, but how does this happen? Both teams are evenly matched and should either be in or out and not one or the other. However none of this junk matters untill March. Just a fair warning to the rest of the SEC: Watch out for the Ole Miss Rebels. Hotty Toddy!
