Standout high school running back Bryce Brown has signed a letter of intent with Tennessee.
Brown, who is ranked as the nation’s No. 1 prospect by Rivals, announced his decision from the Kansas Sports Hall of Fame in Wichita on Monday.
The Wichita East High School star had narrowed his final choices to Oregon, Miami, Tennessee, Kansas State and LSU. Brown told the Knoxville News-Sentinel that his return trip to Tennessee last weekend made a big difference.
“I asked God before I went down there to reveal it to me,” Brown told the News-Sentinel. “When I first went down there, I really wasn’t feeling it. Before I left, I got the sign. That right then and there told me I would be a Volunteer.”
He committed to Miami a year ago but chose not to accept the school’s scholarship offer before it expired on Feb. 18. His brother is Miami linebacker Arthur Brown.
During his announcement, Bryce Brown first pulled out a Miami hat, then handed it to his brother before pulling out a Tennessee hat.
Brown waited nearly six week after signing day to make his college choice. Tight end Orson Charles of Tampa also delayed his decision, signing with Georgia on Friday.

It sounds like Bryce Brown and Lane Kiffin belong together; and I’m not meaning that in a good way.
Both of these guys seem like a “prima donna” looking for attention.
Maybe it will work out for them or maybe their egos will get in the way. It should be interesting to see how this one plays out.

He’s average @ best. He came from Kansas. Not exactly a true proven ground to judge a high school football player. If he was that awesome in Georgia or Florida, I would have to give him his due. He doesn’t know what real football is, but he is in for a rude awakening!

Match made in heaven! I’m sure that alot of the delusional Vile fans will be booking their flights to the National Championship game. But not so fast my friends…there’s this little thing called the field of play. And coaching. And developing championship traits in your players such as leadership and accountability. I was just looking at my Scout.com 2006 Yearbook and their top class for ‘06??? Surprise, surprise it was Tennessee!!! Yep, the same Tennessee who recently fired the coach that recruited that class! By the way, the guys who won 2 with one going for his 3rd NC?? Neither Tim Tebow nor Percy Harvin were in the top 5 recruits.

Sorry, if you look it up on the net, it was actually considered 2005 Scout.com class, I was reading the actual date of my yearbook. Which is even worse because it means those same recruits had 3 full years in the system and still that “#1” class got their coach canned!

Welcome back nervous Dave. Every good Vol note is met by nervous Dave’s eagerness to let us know how little it means.
Dave, we fired the guy who brought in that ‘06 class because he was only going to the most SECCG in the last ten years, and not winning any of them. If recruiting classes like this one and others happen and we don’t win an SECC in ten more years, we’ll get rid of Kiffin.
But you know that’s not going to happen don’t you nervous Dave? You’ve seen what new blood and good recruiting can do for a program. You can make a lot of things happen if you get good recruits in…and you don’t even to be a really good coach. Heck, you can run a gimmick offense and succeed if you have the horses.
All this staff has done in a couple of months is brought in a bunch of 4 and 5* horses that the old staff couldn’t pull. I don’t have a clue if they’ll “coach ‘em up” to a championship level or not, but just seeing how nervous Dave is gives me hope for the future.
I just want to say, “Go Vols”, and I’ll hang up and listen.

I’m a Tennessee season ticket holder but I would’ve much rather had Orson charles than Bryce Brown. BB has the biggest ego in recruiting history, which fits in great with our genius head coach. Clowns players suiting up for clown coaches. I guess I should be happy about BB, but I’m not.

Hey all you bulldog buttlickers who acted as if YOU got the best recruit in the nation when you signed that “other” Brown. What happened when the ACTUAL TOP RECRUIT IN THE NATION didn’t even have you on his list, lol, lol???
Er, “Vols Supporter”, if you really are that dumb, perhaps you should read what “your”?? recruit said about the Vols coaches:
“It was very important,” Brown said of his unofficial visit over the weekend. “When I went there the first time, I just didn’t get a good feel offensively of what they wanted to do. Seeing spring practice and seeing the offense work, it’s exactly what I was looking for. They have a lot of coaches with NFL experience and I felt that they could help me best get prepared for the next level.”

Hey Dave, was Kiffin’s lie anything like this:
“No Jevan, don’t worry about Tim Tebow. We’re looking at him as a linebacker only.”
Oh, and we MIGHT steal a NC…soon. Really soon. If it makes you feel better, it’s probably not this year so put the Maalox down. Maybe not 2010 either. Feel better? Now, after that, all bets are off.

and watching what is going on in Knoxville right now is absolutely gorgeous. This is almost too good to be true.
Honestly, about a month ago, when I started reading about this kid’s pimp, I could not help but imagine him winding up on the Love Boat cruise in East Tennessee. And then, like a gift from above, Miami, yes, that Miami dropped the kid’s scholly. And then, Donte Stallworth, like his former teammates at Ufk before him, Leonard Little and Dwayne Goodrich, went out and killed a man, in, are you ready for this, MIAMI!!!!!
This is really almost too good to be true. Ufk will be on severe probation within 3 years and we will all get to sit around laughing at the littany of head-scratching mistakes made by Laney Kiffin.
I cannot imagine that Candide could have come up with a better farce than what is going on at Ufk right now. It is literally too good to be true.
I would like to personally thank Mike Hamilton for blowing his career and singlehandedly giving us the worst coaching hire in SEC history. You sir are gentleman and a scholar. Thank you.

Not this year? Not next year? Your coach will be LONG gone by then. And your program will more than likely be on probation. Then it’s gonna be just like breaking a mirror (or a crystal football)…another 10 years of “bad luck” for the Vols!

ROTFLMAO, can this get any better?
I can see it now. Ufk is going to hire Terrell Owens as an attitude consultant, A-Rod as S & C coach and OJ Simpson as public relations advisor.
Then they will hire Dwayne Goodrich, Leonard Little and Donte Stallworth to teach drivers’ ed.
This is literally too funny to be true.

I would just like to reiterate to all Ufk fans that no other team is “afraid” of your football team.
At this point Mississippi St. is laughing at your busch league program and the idiot you hired to run it.
Mike Hamilton is already putting out feelers, because he knows it is only a matter of months before he is fired.
This is simply fantastic comedy and we all just feel really fortunate to get to watch it from afar, and know that it is not happening at our schools.
Thanks for the unintentional comedy, and I am sorry for what you are going to have to go through on Saturdays over the next couple of years.
Don’t worry-you got through Kevin O’Neal, Buzz Peterson and Jerry Green before you got Pearl.
Maybe you will get a good football coach in another 5 years or so?

When did God start recruiting for Tennessee anyway? I can’t wait…ESPN LIVE with God’s next recruiting decision. I guess God thought Georgia needed a TE and the Vols needed a RB. In fact, I too talked to the CHRISTIAN GOD last night, just before dinner, and HE told me that HE didn’t even watch college football on TV anymore. “But if “I” did,” HE told me,” “I” (HE actually told me it should be US) would be pulling for Texas…because Texas is God’s country…”because “I” traded the other so called “Promised Land” to the Muslim and Jewish GODS for the “real” promised land of Texas way back before time existed (and, boy, was that ever a mistake)…The BUDDIST GOD (he is a peaceful fella…you know, and WE all need to be more like him…oh, I forgot, she) jumped in after the deal and said we were going to get bored and WE created football. We loved it, but then WE created this stupid thing called the internet…or was it that VP fella from Tennessee who created it?…I forget. Anyway, we started reading about recruits and what those recruits said, and then read what the bloggers said about the recruit…and then we read all the back and forth insults…and WE realized what stupid jerks WE were for creating ALL humans to begin with. They will say anything about US to get elected and to justify their stupid decisions in life…especially about selected a college to play for…and then, blame US when they realize “their” mistakes in life. God this, God that….suddenly, OUR name becomes God - - - -, etc. Anyway, wish that kid…what’s his name?…good luck in the hill country. He is goin’ to need it when he plays those repiles down in Florida…which was my second choice, by the way, for MY country.

Let’s see — #1 player in America signs with a UGA rival and it must be “he got paid” and “he’s a head case.” Geez — no bias there!
The “lying” Lane Kiffen had the class to tell Taj Boyd, a top 5 not to come to UT after committing since he wouldn’t fit the offense. Not many coaches would do that (including Richt selfishly telling Shockley to stick around so he could waste years on the bench instead of playing more years somewhere else). Kiffin came to UT way late in the game, took a lot of heat for dumb comments, and STILL recruited amazingly well. That’s two top 5 RBs in the last 3 weeks, and now a a top 10 class.
If UGA isn’t worried about where UT will be in a few years, they darn well should be.

I sure hope Florida recruits stick with the honest approach of “I like the academics, the warm weather, the coaches, the weight room, winning national championships, and… most important, all those beautiful, tanned, hot Florida GIRLS…instead of “Jesus told me to be a Volunteer or a Dawg when I talked to Him last night.”

When Orson Charles delays his decision and goes to UGA, everything is fine. When Bryce Brown does it, he has “character issues” which is a not so subtle racist remark. Let’s put it this way puppy fans, you lost your 4 best players from last years’ team that played a pretty close game with Tennessee.
My guess, you’ll have an offensive line that does a great job blocking for a really crappy QB I hope they’re athletic to keep up with Eric Berry while he’s running td’d back on you in Neyland. We can’t wait for you to come to Ktown.

31-0 at the half?!!
Like I said - Kiffin may be annoying - but something tells me his team is goin gto be mentally and physically tough - unlike UGA.
I look for Tennessee to give Florida a better run for the money than UGA.
Like I posted in another article - I thought UGA was onto something several years ago when UGA looked physically and mentally tough - but that was 4 years ago - and the last 3 years - UGA is mentally and physically soft - like their coach - and that is why they will never win a National Title.
UGA plays for the opportunity to win the EAST. Florida, LSU and Alabama play to win National Titles.

FACT: The NCAA is already investigating Brown’s advisor Butler.
FACT: The committee investigating Butler is the committee confirming amatuer status of players.
FACT: Butler operated a for pay recruiting website highlighted by Brown (with 7-10 much smaller named recruits).
QUESTIONABLE: Did Brown benefit from Butler making money off of him?
QUESTIONABLE: How did Brown wind up not going to Miami to play with his brother and where he had given his verbal commitment?
QUESTIONABLE: How did Brown wind up going to UT where there have already been several questions swirling around recruiting violations?

I’m sure we can take Billy Jack’scomments and knowledge to the bank. UT has never had a major infraction in any sport. I suppose it could happen now, but I doub it. However,I’m sure other coaches will throw that out as a possibility when they recruit aginst UT in the future. Maybe even coach Richt would do that……Nahhh, surely not.

rocky top-less & Billy Jack are right on! After Foolmer rated out Bama in return for covering his own sins he had to run a clean program. In the fallout Garner left for UGA then UT began the slow decline that led to his forced retirement last season. Now we have Lame Kitten coming in & instead of laying low then proving it on the field goes with any pub is good oub plan in order to keep UT on kids minds. Runs his mouth about opponents to fire up the Vol Nation BUT also riles the SEC, the coaches & schools he targeted. Talked openly of the tactics he instructed some recruits to take on switching to UT on the signing day. All of which has made him & UT football a target which at this point looks like it’ll be an easy one to hit. Other schools have already made sure minor violations were reported so you can rest assured they’ll make sure any big ones will be as well. You might be able to hide things or sweep them under the rug at USC but not in the SEC! Bryce Brown’s recruitment will be gone over with a fine tooth comb so UT better hope Butler didn’t get paid off by a booster unbeknown to the coaches. It wouldn’t shock me if he got hired on in some position at UT or moved his operation to Knoxville. Either will make it easier to follow the money to the smoking gun! If everything was aboveboard then we’ll see if Brown understands he needs to prove he’s a team player & character guy if he wants a shot at the NFL. It’ll be interesting to see if how he handles it if he’s not the starter has to share time or if he’s can’t pick up the blocking scheme then has to be redshirted. It was buyer beware on this kid! So now Vols be wary of the NCAA & a potential ME first team cancer type of guy!

While I agree Brian Butler is of questionable character, Bryce Brown is a great kid with a strong family and even strong faith. Unfortunately his reputation was soiled because of Butler, but Brown’s character was never his issue. We are very happy to have him at UT, but you Puppies seem to be very concerned that Kiffin can recruit. He won some recruiting battles and he lost some, so what is the big deal, and why would you even care. Do you find the Vols complaining when Ga lands a big recruit…of course not? You outrecruited us for Marlon Brown, Geathers, and Orson Charles, so why the big deal about us getting Bryce Brown. You just can’t stand Kiffin, so everytime he does something, you have to find fault in it. Without a doubt, had Brown went to Ga, you would be celebrating just as much as we are right now.

He hired a great staff and recruited some great talent, esp Brown, Oku and Richardson. They are still weak at QB, but in 2-3 years, they will be competing with the best in the SEC East. I hope we beat their butts badly, but if he gets a top QB next year, we better not take them lightly.

It is amazing to read others conversation re BB decision to go to UT. I for one am glad Randy Shannon LET the LOI EXPIRE. Miami sure didn’t need the “mess” that seems to be personal baggage with this kid. Trying to stay as “drama free” as we can. I can’t wait to see the payback that will come to their new coach, Kiffin, who decided to make public his heartfelt feelings about other coaches in the SEC. Get ready Dawgs and Gators, this is going to be real interesting. Miami has been hated for so long, it’s nice to see there is someone else on block to hate now, but also for teams to try and DESTROY on the field. The old saying goes, don’t let your mouth write a check you a** can’t cash!

“Lame Kitten”? Seriously, is that supposed to be offensive? What a pathetic attempt. I bet you also referred to the current President of the US as “Barack Hussein Obama” in an effort to discredit him. Guess what, it doesn’t work and only makes you look like like a lame, pathetic, mouth-breathing tool. Everyone knows that bullies call people names in an effort to make themselves feel better.
GO VOLS!!!!

Did Lamar really say he hopes Brown breaks his leg. What an embarressment that we would have a Georgia fan that would say that. Come on people, don’t act like a bunch of twelve year olds. But, maybe you are twelve years old.

Making comments about his faith saying he is not a true christian then in the next sentence you say you hope he breaks his legs?!!?! Only a UGAy fan…only in JAWJA! There is only ONE UGAy…Thank GOD! I couldnt handle another cesspool. You know how I know when I’m getting close to Athens? The chicken $hit smell starts leaking in the car from the outside. Wow UGAy…u even have your own distinctive smell!!! I hate UT as well, but they will own JAWJA just as UF does w/ Kiffin. Dont forgot ole Monty is running the D. No one can discredit those credentials. NO ONE! I’m gonna laugh when Tech puts up 400+ yds of rushing AGAIN!

So the nations top running back decides not to play at UGA. Seriously, would it have made any difference if he had gone to UGA ? UGA could have the #1 recuit at all positions but still wouldn’t win the big one.

funny hearing douchebag fans talking trash about not landing a top recruit and winning the big one. I think all 12 SEC teams this year had higher recruiting classes than tech. and especially since they play in the most pathetically weak BCS conference in America. what’s the ACC in BCS games, 2-9? and Tech isn’t even competitive? too dang funny!!!
