M.L. King RB Mack Brown gets hefty praise from Florida
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Categories
Florida coach Urban Meyer wants very badly to sign M.L. King’s Mack Brown, one of the nation’s top tailbacks.
Brown said he was pleasantly surprised by some of the things Meyer has told him. “Coach Meyer told me I was the No. 1 target at running back. Then he said I was the No. 1 overall athlete on their entire recruiting board. I couldn’t believe it. When he said that, I was like ‘for real?’ He said yes. I told him thanks and that it meant a lot coming from him.”
Brown has nearly 20 scholarship offers, including UGA and Georgia Tech. He said he grew up a fan of Florida and Georgia, but claims no favorites.
“That meant a lot coming from [Meyer]. He’s the coach of the national champions. He also knows about all of those Florida prospects. That’s exciting to hear from him.”

Do your homework kid, although FLA has put some good RB’s in the NFL, they can’t compare to “Running Back U”.UGA along with USC consistently puts them in the league.Want to play on Sundays go to UGA; unless you like California, then it’s USC, but here, your people can see you every week, and you can really see what you’re made of with 4 top ten running backs to compete with. That is, if you got what it takes!

Interesting comments, gentlemen, and from the Coaches of the various Teams.
I find it interesting that none of them have mentioned that the only Running Back Pro Football Weekly’s 2008 All-America team is Jonathan Dwyer from Georgia Tech, a Sophomore last year no less, and that included the likes of Knowshon Moreno, Chris “Beanie” Wells, etc…
For those who aren’t familiar with this All American Team, it’s selected by NFL evaluators based on a player’s talent, contribution to his team, and draft value.
Sounds to me that GA Tech has put a running back in a better position to go Pro than UGA, the University of Florida, Tennessee, Alabama, Clemson, USC, Texas, Ohio State, etc.
Maybe Mack needs to to that into consideration, especially knowing Jonathan will be a Junior next year, and may be tempted to come out after next season and Mack would have a chance to play early.

You answered yourself right there. If it is so great and should be respected, then why does nobody know anything about it. Why does nobody ever refer to it? I seriously doubt these are NFL evaluators. They have too much other stuff to do. If they are, then they are not employed.
I am not arguing that Dwyer is not a good back. He most definitely is a great back. Better than Beanie and Knowshon? I don’t know about that. I am arguing the source.

Glenn, with all due respect, when all your offense is based on running the ball, for sure Jonathan Dwyer will be one of the most productive tail backs, but in reality he is an average back.when Gaily was the man, Dwyer was mediocre , so in pro style offense he is not that effective. if Dwyer is at UGA instead he will be a fullback, but will not start as a tailback. Georgia without doubt is one of the best 5 programs in producing tail backs to NFL, and the best along with Auburn in the SEC

Cameron and TheItalianDawg;
It really doesn’t matter if you are aware of this All American Team now is it? The important this is that Mack be made aware that the NFL Evaluators are the ones who selected this Team, and they choose Jonathan Dwyer as the only running back in the Country as their All American and a few others as Honorable Mention.
And with all due respect to you, TheItalianDawg, these same NFL Evaluators take into account all aspects of each player, including the type of Offensive and Defensive Schemes they played in, so your argument doesn’t fly here. That’s why some players didn’t cut the mustard…
For example, that was why Mathew Stafford was selected their All American QB, even though his numbers weren’t as lofty as some other QB’s.
You guys may not agree with the post, but it’s hard to argue with the fact that I’m not the one who made the selection, or the reasons they made it or why. It’s also hard for you to deny the fact that their decision was made irregardless of the type of “gimmick” offense GA Tech is running.
Just because GA Tech puts a running back in batter position to carry the football than other Teams, it doesn’t mean he’ll be shown the better ball player. What it will mean is that he’ll have more opportunities to carry the ball and get better exposure to the national media because he’ll be breaking the long runs.
Now if Mack is interested in playing in a predominantly passing attack, that’s fine, but he won’t have the same opportunity to showcase his talents like he’ll be able to do at GA Tech. It’s not rocket science.

TheItalianDawg,
You do know that Dwyer was backing up an NFL runningback in the one year he was at Tech with Gailey, right?
Regardless, I don’t know that I’d call his 2007 efforts mediocre either…
Player (Year) Attempts Avg Yds/carry TD TD% Moreno (2007): 248 5.4 14 5.6 Dwyer (2007): 82 5.3 9 11.0
In that year, as a backup, he put up very comparable ypc numbers, but his TD% was much higher than Moreno’s. Clearly mediocre… right?

Glenn you dumbazz! All Mack needs to know about the NFL and the difference between Tech and UGA is the total number of players each school has sent to the league and he will have his answer to that one. And now that PJ is the coach at Tech, offensive skill players going to the NFL will become a rarity.

Look kid, florida is a good school. Georgia produce year in and out great running backs, yes they eventually go to the next level. On a scale of 1-10, 8 will play in the league. Now as of recent (Under Meyers coaching) how many have gone to the next level? HMM. The offense will not benefit you at GT or FLA. Also I am a coach myself, a lot of us will tell u whatever it takes to get you. TRUST ME, in FLA alone there are tailbacks that are just as good if not better than you. Stay home young man, or go to a school that will showcase your talent. That bubble gum offense at FLA will not. They only go as far as ESPN wants them to go. As you can see teams are up to date with Fl style of offense. GODD LUCK….

One thing that can be said about playing TB at Florida or Tech is at least you only have to remember about 4 plays. The NFL will require that x’s 50 to 75, but of course the NFL guys won’t hold that against a player. I mean all of the GM’s in the NFL were dying for Tebow to come out despite his lack of experience in a pro-style offense, right? Well, maybe not. Now that I think about it, maybe a HS player may want to decide whether he wants to be washing cars and talking about the great play he made against Vandy or Duke in ‘08 or if he’d rather be telling the UF or Tech drop out to hurry up washing his Benz so he can make it to the stadium on time. Mack, who would you rather be: Tim Tebow eating a Hot Pocket on the way to class or Stafford depositing a 25 million dollar signing bonus? You are a smart kid, you’ll figure it out.

Mack Brown, come on down! Now this is the kind of athlete we are referring to when we say the top 1% of the 1%!! This is the kind of player that will look real good running around in the Swamp! This is the kind of player we need to maintain the dynasty. This is the kind of guy that will look real good with a couple of Championship rings on his fingers.I don’t usually get too hyped about a recruit because hype is hype, but I like this one. Whoever gets him will be getting a good one!

Oh, and by the way…this young man will be making a COLLEGE choice, not an NFL choice. At any of the schools mentioned, here and others…the league will find YOU if YOU are good enough… whether you’re Hershel Walker or Emmitt Smith or L.T. or whomever.

And as far as “can’t waiting”, I can’t wait for you to realize you should go home. And no, I don’t want to hear your excuses for why you can’t or won’t go back to Trenton or Newark or whatever other hellhole you slimed your reptillian form out of. Just go away. Mack Brown and Florida QB commit Trey Burton are good friends. Bryce Brown is probably going to Tennessee so, I doubt he goes there. I think this is a Georgia/Florida battle.

Strange the AJC has not printed this retraction from the SC wimp isn’t it? Naw, not really as they never do, only the attention getting headline crap!
**Tennessee football coach Lane Kiffin was interviewed Thursday on The Sports Animal by Jimmy Hyams and John Wilkerson this afternoon. Here are some of the highlights:
Kiffin said the ESPN report earlier this week about receiver prospect Alshon Jeffrey was disappointing and really discouraging.
Kiffin said he talked to Jeffrey this week. Kiffin said Jeffrey denied saying that Kiffin told him he would be pumping gas like all of the other prospects that went to South Carolina if he chose to sign with South Carolina.**

Kiffin also said that he goes to Kroger and pumps his own gas. “I just really like that I can spend money on groceries and get a discount at the pump”, Kiffin was heard to say.
In other recruiting news, Urban Meyer has banned recruits from getting anywhere near the glass footballs. “I knew breaking a mirror was bad luck, but who knew about breaking glass footballs. That kid still owes us the $250 deductable on the insurance claim.”

The bubble gum offense the rednecks refer to will win three national championships in four years. You guys look like fools being critical of Florida and Urban Meyer.Florida is now simply the leading football program in the country. Hands down #1 and it is performance that counts, nothing else. The rest of you are now playing for number two and if your aren’t USC, Texas, Alabama, or the Sooners you not even playing for #2. You all need to sell your football tickets and pull for your school in other sports, Florida will bring the wood every game and keep kicking your a* one by one.

So Glenn, what will be your lying arse spin when Dwyer goes pro and is drafted well behind where Knowshon will be picked this year???? Will you blame the “system” that you tools have been praising all year long? You know, the same system that was exposed by a 5 loss SEC team in your own backyard?
