Henry County’s Markeith Ambles a big fan of Lane Kiffin
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Categories
It’s been nearly two weeks since Henry County’s Markeith Ambles attended Junior Day at Tennessee.
But the positive impression made by Volunteers coach Lane Kiffin that weekend remains fresh on the 6-foot-3, 185-pound wide receiver’s mind.
“I think he’s pretty cool,” said Ambles, who currently hold just over 30 scholarship offers. “He’s different from all the other coaches.
“I like him. I think he’ll change that program a little bit. And I like the offense they’re going to run, the pro style like Southern Cal.”
Ambles went on to proclaim that he’ll make another trip to Knoxville.
“I will go back there for another visit,” he said.
His newest offer arrived from UCLA. Ambles said he’s intrigued by the thought of playing for the Bruins.
“It’s a great possibility,” he said.
Though he doesn’t have an offer from Georgia, he still plans to visit Athens for the Dogs’ Junior Day on March 21.
“We’ve been talking lately, but there’s nothing really new with Georgia,” he said.

Markeith, Laney will not be at Ufk by the time you are a junior. He is a cool guy, but coaches who are cool guys wind up getting the school on probation and lose their jobs. That pretty much describes daddy’s boy laney.

Ambles started out as the #23 player in the nation according to rivals.com
it is kind of a head scratcher why uga has not offered. i’m beginning to think there could be some character issues. maybe not, but there has got to be something that is a hang up in their minds.

Ambles… Vol fans think you are pretty cool too. You know you are one of the Elite WR in the country? Come to UT, Kiffin will teach you an NFL offense and over 100K fans will cheer you on in the SEC’s greatest stadium.

Markeith, you should go to Tennessee because you’re never going to get an offer from Georgia and you know why. Sorry, but best of luck elsewhere.

Smyrna Man, You do have a great fan base at TN and I enjoy going to TN home games but the stadium is one of the worst erector sets I have ever visited. Knoxville also reminds me of the worst parts of Atlanta.

Love to see you in Knoxville, Markeith. Enjoy the process and don’t worry about what people say. We all get a little fired up in supporting our teams.

JamesD, when it comes right down to it, is there really a good part of Atlanta?

I’ve heard that this kid has some character issues/extra baggage. Anyone have specific information on that?

Voice of Reason I don’t worry about Atlanta’s condition. I work downtown but I live right next to Lake Linear in a neighborhood that is surrounding by the Chattahoochee nature reserve. The only place I feel safe in Knoxville is my hotel room and my car. Athens on the other hand only has two places to avoid. The Iron Triangle and Crack Rock Springs Road. Downtown and campus are beautiful and safe.

Why don’t all you folks that are hinting that this kid has issues/baggage, confront him and his parents, in Athens, on junior day? How would you feel if he was your son? Dawgs have no class.

I have heard that this kid has had a history of getting into trouble. I’m under the impression that is why UGA has not offered this kid. If that is true let him join the UT circus.

From what I have read, he was expelled from a previous school for fighting. That’s the only think i could find on him.

THE ONLY THINK?

MCKEEHAN we are simply stating why we think UGA has not offered. It seems really strange that he has all these big school offers and not the big name in state offer. Nobody is trying to bash this kid. We are just say that if there are character problems or discipline issues this we would like it if the kid went somewhere else. God knows UGA had their fare share of discipline issues this past year and this may be evidence that they have learned from their mistakes. Oh, and if my son did something to deserve the title of “character issues” then i’d tell him he got what was coming to him. Being a gifted athlete doesn’t exclude him from suffering the consequences of his own actions.

I wish the young man success in whatever decision is right for him and his family. These are children playing a game they love, but some are making this process difficult for the kids to enjoy. I believe a lot of these kids get in trouble and it is never reported, but swept under the rug.

Well I am only stating, that before people place remarks on the net, that border on slander, a few hard facts need to be dug up.

I’m not trying to bad mouth the kid at all. I was just hearing that he had a few character issues. I do not necessarily believe the hearsay but if anyone has more facts on the situation, I would love to know about them. That is why I am asking about these rumors before making comments on them.
G. Mckeehan needs to relax because people are asking objective questions about a kid, rather than making subjective remarks that have no basis.

Well IF he DOES in fact have character issues you have to admit that Tennessee would be the perfect place for him!

UT wins 10 games next year, losing to UF, UA, and Ole Miss. UGA doesn’t stand a chance. There’s a lot of smack coming from the UGA fans who are losing their best three players on offense from a team that got beat by Georgia Tech at home and was played pretty close at home by the worst team that UT has put out in many years. Getting 8 wins will be easy.

UGA doesn’t stand a chance? LOL
I do agree however that UT will lose to UF, UA, and Ole Miss, but add UGA, Vandy, and SC to the mix as well. Sorry, no bowl game this year, but hey, at least you have Kiffin right? LOL

Strange the AJC has not printed this retraction from the SC wimp isn’t it? Naw, not really as they never do, only the attention getting headline crap!
**Tennessee football coach Lane Kiffin was interviewed Thursday on The Sports Animal by Jimmy Hyams and John Wilkerson this afternoon. Here are some of the highlights:
Kiffin said the ESPN report earlier this week about receiver prospect Alshon Jeffrey was disappointing and really discouraging.
Kiffin said he talked to Jeffrey this week. Kiffin said Jeffrey denied saying that Kiffin told him he would be pumping gas like all of the other prospects that went to South Carolina if he chose to sign with South Carolina.**

UT won’t beat UGA next year because kiffin will have been fired by then. If he continues to do stupid stuff the NCAA will stick their heads in and force UT to do something. It’s going to be interesting to see how UT turns out next year. Kiffin better be a miracle worker because if he doesn’t provide instant success he will be crucified. And we all know he doesn’t have much to work with coming into this year.
