Auburn, Georgia Tech in the lead for Union Grove DE Williams
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Categories
Auburn made a favorable impression on Union Grove junior defensive end Anthony Williams during his visit there on Saturday.
“I really liked it,” Williams said. “Meeting with the coaches was good. I could see myself playing for Auburn.”
The 6-foot-4, 230-pound lineman says he has a verbal offer from the Tigers.
“In speaking with the [Auburn] coaches, they want to build chemistry with me,” Williams said. “I say that when that chemistry builds, the written offer will come through.”
Williams currently holds scholarship offers from Central Florida, East Carolina, Georgia Tech, Indiana, Oklahoma State, Stanford and West Virginia.
He said two programs have jumped ahead of the others.
“I would usually say that everybody is even, but I would say that Georgia Tech and Auburn are my leaders right now,” Williams said.
He is scheduled to visit Georgia on Saturday.

Anthony, you better commit to Georgia Tech before CPJ “pulls” your offer. He tried that sh*t on Dontae Aycock, and it didn’t work. You see where Aycock signed (Auburn). End of story.

Auburn Boy is just another jealous leghumper who can’t fathom the concept of commitment. Don’t worry about him Anthony. He’ll be delivering your pizza pretty soon. Aycock put himself in the mess he’s in now. He’s stuck in Auburn. But it could be worse. He could be stuck in Athens with no hope of a real education. End of story.

Anthony, you’re a smart man liking Auburn. Coach Chizik is a patient man. He won’t twist your arm and bully you into signing like that guy in Atlanta. Come to Auburn where we only get bowl rings for bowl games and championships, not for beating scrubs like Georgia. We would have too many rings if we did silly things like that.

The young man should go where he feels comfortable. But to all you Auburn people. If my memory is correct and I know it is GT beat you the last two times we played and you don’t want anymore. Don’t worry about coach Johnson. Worry about Alabama, LSU, and Ole Miss, you know all the teams in your own division that are better than you. Not to mention Arkansas ,which will also be much better.

It’s funny how some of these AU fans seem to have “missed” the part where the Aycock kid took forever deciding on a school, and even needed his brother (NFL - Lions) to join him in January, on his final visit to GT. His brother approved, and D. Aycock committed to GT.
This is when PJ explained what committment meant to himself & GT. It was that his committment had finalized the recruitment process, and as GT was committed to Aycock, he [Aycock] was inturn committed to GT.
When Donte decided a couple weeks later to visit AU after being “recruited” by Czick, PJ AND Donte’s high school coach advised him not to make the visit. Advice Aycock choose to ignore. Noone blames AU for recruiting the kid after he’s committed to another school, but I for one commend PJ for pulling the scholarship offer. I believe it’s great for PJ’s current players & recruits to see his stance on committment - the “I’ve got your back, you’ve got mine” concept. Kudos coach!!
Maybe lots of other coaches should do this too, and help end the silly circus that the recruiting process has become.

Auburn Man-
You have got to be kidding. I cannot believe any Auburn fan has the audacity to blog, much less throw stones.
You pull for Auburn. Your coach is named Gene Cheezewiz..or something…and you are currently the laughing stock of college football with your imbred alum trying to rule the roost. I would not be throwing stones at Paul Johnson or any other coach. The same Paul Johnson that you all coveted less than a year agon before his reps told your AD that he had no interest in that circus.
Your program and school are a joke. GT sissy trains you everytime we play you. When was the last time you beat us…I think Reagan was still in office.
You run off Tuberville to hire some dude who is like 4-17 over the last two years. Yeah Cheezewiz is patient man….he has to be. He has no other options.
You strike out in your attempts to hire Paul Johnson, go hire cheezewiz in desparation and then throw feeble jabs at Coach Johnson. Your inferiority complex is not glaring….dont worry.

Ahhhh… little bees, little bees like TruTechFan. You love “history”, but you only want to cherry-pick the “history” that makes you look good. Like you beat Auburn in our last two games but conveniently leave out that you had LOST nine in a row to Auburn prior to that. And that despite the “football powerhouse history” of the program that you like to brag about, Auburn has won more games against Ga Tech than they have lost. Now that’s factual history that the little bees don’t like to bring up.
And don’t you go worryin’ about your little head coach that your so proud of, little bees (you know… the one that had a signed contract with Navy and tore it up, dumped our future servicemen that committed to play for him, just to make more MONEY in that little high school stadium off of North Avenue?), his Lane-Kiffin-wannabe antics won’t take long to wear thin with the high school athletes that he is recruiting and then you’ll be looking for another coach asking him to break HIS “committment” to the school he has a signed contract with.
And don’t worry about recruiting… there are still lots of decent athletes for a school like Tech to pick from once the SEC schools get their pick. You’ll do OK.

Tiger7,
Shouldn’t recent history count the most? We managed to beat you twice with Reggie Ball and Chan Gailey at the helm. Does anything else need to be said? Maybe you would have played for championships if you hadn’t tucked your tail between your legs and bailed on the game in GA Dome.
Here’s to meeting soon with your new coach (solid head coaching record btw) vs. Paul Johnson!

How can Yech get such a pathetically bad recruiting class following their best season since their shared title with a better team of ‘90? I’m sure Aycock will fill him in on how much of a snake and lying hypocrite Saint Johnson is.

Riiiiiight, unlike Tech fans who have been hiding behind a team they NEVER play for nearly 2 decades, UGA at least spanked the team that gave you an anal cavity search with a Louisville Slugger on national tv.
Thanks for making me laugh so hard I almost choked!!! Yeah, Richt sure has struggled against the worst BCS conference in football. I think his record is now 11-1. Took him 8 years to get his first loss against them, while Johnson got his first HUMILIATING loss against the SEC in year one.

I’m actually surprised that you can spell comprehension much less know what it means. Must have taken some Jim Harrick Jr. classes. The ACC regular season record against the SEC was W6-L4, Mr. Comprehension. Do some research.
And since you brought up Richt, you may not be aware, Mr. Comprehension but Staffy & Knowshow & Massa are gone. 8 wins max for GA next year. All that SEC defensive speed! All going to waste! Kind of like a roadrunner running in front of a truck.

Mr. Assumption, Can you provide the written and/or verbal proof that Stephen Hill did NOT decide to back out of UCF before PJ & Co. offered? If you can, then it’s not cool what happened with Aycock, only logical. I.E. why have a scholarship locked-up with a kid that has decieded to go elsewhere? Give it to someone else. If not, then shut your pie-hole.
Also, this “running back U” you are referring to … I sure hope you’re not implying that’s AU! But let’s put up the 2008 rushing stats of AU, GT, (and Cheezwiz’s IS boys) just in case.
GT — 273.2 / game
AU — 137.5 / game
IS — 138.4 / game
Gee, AU & IS combined only avgeraged 2.7 more yds that GT. And if you think either one them is going to be more of a “running b U” than GT as long a PJ is leading the Jackets then maybe you’d like to buy my beach-front condo in Nashville, TN., you crackhead.

For the final time: PJ had no commitment to UCF. What is so hard to understand? Just like AU had no commitment to Tech. The only big loser in the issue is Aycock. He’ll never be heard from again.
As for Hill, he and Tech both honored their commitments. He’ll be wide open all day.

Ryan-
Good point. Atlanta really does suck. It really blows to drive 15 minutes downtown, take in a fall game with the Atlanta skyline in the backdrop and then hit the Highlands or some great restaurant following. I would much rather be buying pralines and licorice at the Exxon station in Opelieka after every home game. Isnt there a curfew in Awburn? The last time I was there all I saw after midnight were stools on tables, tumbleweed and cow patties. Good argument though. The F’d up Atlanta government and corrupt Henry County School board have had a profound negative effect on my game day experience for years now. You must be magna cume laudy down in cowtown.
Reality Yech- I think its touching how you come over here to help out your SEC breathren. Your obsession with all things GT is quite impressive. Why so much deep seated hate?…emotional scars from a rejected entrance application years back?..hate your boss?…Eithey way I have a riddle for you-

Circlejerk (aka Big Bug/Tech insider, ASSumption Ryan, chad, etc.) why do you not use your other handle anymore? I miss it. Yes, I can spell comprehension just fine, as can you with the help of Webster’s. Did you look up the definition yet to see what it means?
Poor little guy, you’re as ignorant about football as you are the english language. Let me help you out yet again.
Why no mention of the two bowl games that had the SEC vs. ACC? Still having nightmare little fella? LOL!! Here’s your lesson.
The SEC had their worst season in recent memory (still 6-2 in bowls with yet ANOTHER National Title) while the ACC had their best season EVER as a conference. Yet, the ACC could only go .500 against a very down SEC? How is that?
Furthermore, out of the 12 games against each other, the ACC played in their own backyard for 6 of them and on neutral sites for two others. So out of 12 games, the ACC was either at home or had split amount of fans for 8 of them. And yet they could STILL only go .500!!! LOL!!!
That’s what I call an arse kickin’ with facts! Now run along and get on your studies. You have a big test coming up on Friday in Social Studies.

First idiot, you’re the only fool on here trying to deny the fact that Hill was committed to UCF when Johnson started going after him. Even the most diehard of Tech fans don’t deny that. So yes, Johnson is a hypocrite and looks like a scumbag for complaining about Aycock after pursuing Hill when he was already committed to another school.
Secondly, you look like the typical desperate Techie we all know and love. You’re honestly trying to compare rushing yards against two teams that had freshmen and sophomores all across their lines, but more importantly two teams that run/pass 50/50?? Unlike Tech who runs 95% of the time. So you’re stupid for trying to make that case.
However, you’re hilarious though trying to say that Tech has a better RB history than UGA and Auburn. That’s like saying the nerds have a better basketball history than UCLA. You should take that comedy show on the road, tool.

I asked you for the facts regarding S. Hill, and there you go again making an ASSumption. You’re even implying that I have the facts, and I’m choosing to ignore them. Somebody help this poor soul!
Somebody please find the PROOF, written and/or verbarl that Hill was totally committed to UCF, and had NO INTENTIONS of leaving before PJ & Co. offered him.
So AssRyan you’re implying that if a kid commits somewhere, then changes his mind (POSSIBLY the case with S.Hill), he is now not allowed to accept an offer somewhere else? That’s about as brilliant a thought as implying that AU is “running back U” over GT. Have you noticed the offense GT is running now? That’r right, I said NOW not for the PAST 30 years, but NOW. And if I’m not mistaken Aycock is playing football NOW. So you say he decided to go to running back U by choosing AU.
You are showing your ignorance with the Tech runs 95% of the time comment. So, who is running the ball 95% of the time there genius, the kicker??? Exactly, THE RUNNING BACKS - like the position Aycock is going to play! So, if a team runs the ball 95% of the time as you have pointed out, then why would a team that runs it 50% be considered the running back U? Riiight, I think you’re getting it now.
And where did I say that Tech had a better RB “history” than AU or GA???? I didn’t even mention GA ya dumb*. IS, who I mentioned, = Iowa State, Gene Cheezewiz’s previous job.
Now I end on this final nugget for you “Einstein” …. just like AU & IS, GT had freshmen & sophomores across its OL too. And all 5 of its starting OL (from midway through the FSU game on) are returning.
By ASSumption Ryan is a tool

Genius, why don’t you show us proof that Hill WASN’T committed to UCF once the slimeball Johnson started going after him? The evidence that he WAS committed to UCF is his actual COMMITMENT to them, Einstein. You’re lying trying to say otherwise, so prove it to us!!
Yes dumbarse, when a kid commits to a school, according to the douchebag Johnson himself, he’s with that school and that’s it. Yet the hypocrite finds nothing wrong with pursuing kids that are already COMMITTED to other programs. I see why this is difficult for a moronic Tech fan to understand.
Tech is “running back U?” LOL!!! I can’t stop laughing about that.!!! Even lowly SEC cellardweller Miss. St. has better RB tradition than Tech, so you can only imagine how laughable it is to knowledgeable CFB fans to hear a clown like you saying GT has better RB history than UGA or Auburn.
And just to drive the final nail in your lyingarse coffin, Rivals has Tech’s OL line depth chart from last year with 4 seniors starting with one freshmen. There were only 3 freshman TOTAL on the OL roster for Tech last year. They had 7 Seniors and 5 Juniors, zero sophomores. So yes, Tech will suck serious pole this year since they lost 7 seniors and only had 3 freshmen. While UGA is loaded since they only played freshmen and sophomores all season long.
Now, STFU!!

Tech fans like Eric crack me up. They don’t bother with just spinning the truth, no no, they flat out lie.
Yeah buddy, the only teams that get Tech’s “leftovers” are maybe Duke and Vandy. Scouts has Auburn’s recent class ranked 16th and your bees a pitiful 32nd. Rivals has the Tigers at 19th and your trade school at lowly 49th. I thought you GT fans were supposed to be good with numbers?
And as far as “manning up” goes, when is GT going to stop scheduling the two SEC perennial divisional doormats of Vandy and Miss. St.? Why are the bees scared of putting a UF, UT, Bama or LSU on their schedules?
Also, is Tech “manning up” when they play TN-Chatt, Furman, the Citadel, Samford and J-ville State every year? Not to forget how they played UConn and UCF when they were both horrible, but now won’t have anything to do with them. You make this too easy for us you know.
