Pope junior offensive lineman Grant Ramsay landed his first scholarship offer on Friday when he received word that he had been offered by Minnesota.
“It feels really good,” said Ramsay, who plans to visit the Golden Gophers’ campus. “It feels good to have the monkey off my back.
“It makes me feel like my hard work is paying off.”
Ramsay’s second offer came Saturday morning while he participated in Junior Day activities at Central Florida.
“[UCF coaches] said they really like how I play,” the 6-foot-5, 278-pound Ramsay said. “They offered me and said the written offer is in the mail.”
Ramsay had a chance to meet Central Florida coach George O’Leary during his visit to Orlando.
“I really like what coach O’Leary has done there, turning it around,” Ramsay said. “It’s a very nice program that I am interested in. I want to pursue it and see how things pan out.
“The campus and facilities at Central Florida is top notch. It’s very nice. I really liked it.”
He is being recruited by both schools as an offensive guard.

Why are all these obscure D-1 schools mailing offers to state juniors? Who is next to offer every top 50 kid? East Carolina? No. They did two weeks ago. My son’s friend got one. I’m betting Fresno State or UAB.
