UGA has birthday present for Westlake LB Michael Taylor
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Categories
Westlake linebacker Michael Taylor will never forget his 17th birthday.
“The whole coaching staff from Georgia called me to wish me a Happy Birthday and then coach Mark Richt extended me an offer,” he said. “They told me they are only taking one linebacker from class, and I’m the one they offered.”
The 6-foot-1, 200-pounder attended Junior Day in Athens. His only other offer is from Ole Miss. “I went to Alabama and the coaches told me they wanted to see my tape before they offered, so I think they will be next in line,” he said.
Taylor, a San Diego native, said the birthday wish was a nice touch and UGA is currently his top choice, but Southern Cal is his dream school. Taylor is excited to take some official visits his senior year and said he will commit “when I find the place that is right for me.”

If a kid is saying, he will commit “when I find a place that is right for me”. That should be a sign if he does not commit right away with Georgia. Get other offers out there. Tell these kids you can only take one, but offer the best 3 or 4 you can find. Set the tone, first come, first serve. That way kids have to say, well let me think about Georgia…if I don’t then someone else is going to take it.

UGA in the Mirror, you obviously did not read the column about Mark Richt and how he recruits or you just want to parody it and make it look like your idea. Georgia always does exactly what you are suggesting. They will make and offer to the top candidate, if he does not jump, they might put a few offers out there. They do make it very clear how many slots they have, so if another kid takes the slot, then it is full. UGA will have the discussions with the kids up front that if they choose to wait, the slot can be filled. The whole thing is a gamble on both sides, kids want more offers, UGA is betting he is the best kid for 2010, is it fair if USC jumps in after Under Armour?. It is what it is, if he does not take it someone else will. Lots of boys want to play for UGA.

HEY, UGA in the MIRROR, HAVE YOU SEEN THIS KID PLAY? The Bulldogs DID extend an offer to the best linebacker in the country! He is the real deal, and you can bet that USC will be calling.

I think it’s going to be really funny how just how medicore GT will be this year. LSU exposed just how weak that system is under Johnson. You need athletes to run something like that—and guess what—outside of a few of Gailey’s recruits, you have mediocrity running around.
Next Year—-that Ok Sate looks really scary—Robinson, Hunter, and White. I think my Dawgs will unfortunately lose 3-4 games, but after all its a reloading year.
GT will probably squeeze out 7 games and watch Dwyer depart for the riches of the NFL—and then its all downhill from there.

congrats mike, on being held in such high regard by the staff of the uga football team, continue to work hard and everything will take care of itself. to all you uga fans out there would don’t know this kid and wonder why the staff did this its simple, mike is a great son, brother, student, teamate, and last but not less an athletic. he has the right to make has own choice be it uga, fla, tenn, ala, usc, etc. but it is his to make. he is a kid who has a dream just like the thousand of others who who will be part of the class of 2010. so if you are still wondering why ga. did what they did, then i say to you on a fall evening 2009 take a trip too WESTLAKE HIGH SCOOL and see first hand what uga alreadies knows this kid is special and be not surprised if you happen to see college recruiters in attendance from all schools. this is a gerat kid and he deserved all that god has for him.
