Georgia could add one more to its 2009 recruiting class with TE Orson Charles

While Georgia Tech appears to be finished, UGA could add at least one more member to its 2009 recruiting class.

On Tuesday, tight end Orson Charles of Tampa, who is one of the nation’s top unsigned seniors, confirmed that he will announce his college decision on March 6. Charles is deciding between Florida, Georgia, Southern Cal and Tennessee. Charles also said he will narrow down to “two or three” schools on Wednesday, but did not offer any hints.

Over the next 10 days, Charles will huddle with his family, friends and coaches to go over the advantages and disadvantages of each finalist. One of his close friends is quarterback Aaron Murray, who signed with Georgia and enrolled early in college. Murray and Charles helped lead Plant High to Florida’s Class AAAA championship in December.

Georgia has signed 19 players for 2009, adding defensive tackle Kwame Geathers of Carver’s Bay, S.C., last week. On signing day earlier this month, 21 players signed with Georgia Tech.

Yeah Orson, go on down to thuguga and ice up their cake. Then you and AAron can get well versed in how to politely get arrested, or, you can go to Fla. and play for a winner.

Yes, Orson, just think, as hem o’roid said, go to UF. There you will be instructed on some of the more useful things in life, such as:

  • How to steal your dead girlfriend’s credit card and go on a shopping spree.

  • How to discharge an AK-47 in public.

  • How to steal your car back after it’s been impounded.

  • How to violate a sexual violence restraining order.

Just think how proud your parents will be.

Florida players don’t get arrested and stay arrested. Most of their charges get dropped before big games. Notice this, that UGA arrests are by campus police for drunk walking, rubbing some girls belly asking if she’s pregnant, driving with a expired license, getting hit in the head with a bottle at a bar, while Florida’s offenses (the ones that are reported, anyway) are as listed by Maddog. I’m not hatin’, I’m just sayin’. I’ll admit I’m envious of their success. They are a great team! It was just funny to see a Gator talk about UGA players getting arrested. We can’t even commit the same level of law-breaking as they can…ha,ha,ha! Wow!

Tech fans are pathetic. It took (1) post before there was some pesky insect in here hating on UGA. They are so envious it’s sad (funny).

I know, I know…45-42…ha,ha,ha! It’s funny to us now, too.

Oh yeah, hem o’roid, here’s more headlines from the law abiding UF players:

  • Gainesville Police arrested University of Florida football player Jacques Rickerson overnight on a charge of domestic battery by strangulation, battery, and obstruction of justice.

  • A sworn complaint was filed against offensive lineman Ronnie Wilson, charging him with one count of assault and one count of battery.

  • Here is the 911 call from Wilson’s target practice in 2007. You can hear the shots from the AK47 assault rifle.

  • In January 2008, a Gainesville police dog sniffed something in Wilson’s car. An officer removed six grams of marijuana, but Wilson got lucky. The state attorney’s office didn’t notice Wilson was on probation, so he wasn’t immediately thrown in jail. Then, an assistant state attorney dropped the possession charge!

I also want to share this quote from a news source: To say that Gainesville players have received questionable treatment is well, an understatement.

I’ll close by repeating the mantra of the University of Florida - Urban Meyer only recruits the top 1% of the top 1%.

The top 1% of what 1%, felons?

If Orson wanted some experience in the slammer then he shouldn’t waste his time with the petty “driving without a license, lights off, underage drinking” stuff the UGA boys do. He should hangout at Tech and see how the real professionals do it. What’s the latest rapsheet again? FBI busted drug dealer, rapist and a former posterboy player/coach busted for hit and run/drunk driving/open container and drug possession? All in one sitting :)

I don’t think Charles is leaning to Florida at all. He did not grow up a Florida fan, and I think he wants to play out of state…so I think it will be either Georgia or USC. If he does stay in state, I think he will go to Miami, not Florida. But I hope he proves me wrong because he will be tremendous in the Gator offensive scheme…just like Cornelius Ingram was and Hernandez is. And, by the way Georgia fans, I have only this to say about all the Gator bashing…2 NC in the last 3 years and 3 since 1996. Georgia’s last title…1980…was that before the forward pass was invented? Gator fans don’t wish and dream about pulling for a team that wins championships. Winning championships is modern day reality for us. So keep on wishing and keep on dreaming…and maybe, if the Gators have an off year, you might, just might, have a chance…NOT.

UF did have some creative criminal arrests, but when a 300 pound lineman rubs a pregnant woman’s belly, and she doesn’t want him to, it is called criminal assault. Richt paid that one off. Don’t forget about Lemon sucker punching a student and sending him to the hospital. Richt couldn’t pay that one off, and last I heard, it was going to trial. And there were about five DUI’s, the barroom brawl followed by my personal favorite, running amok with hospital plants. Richt paid that one off, too, which would probably have been a felony. And, of course, toting a handgun on campus.

What does me not going UF have to do with the price of eggs in China? So I didn’t have the test scores to get into UF, why does that matter? Although I got my associates degree from a community college in Tampa, I’m still making over $100,000. Where I didn’t go to school doesn’t diminish my love for the Gators! connorsgp, your post was hilarious. You said “Truth be known UF could care less about this guy”. LMAO!! Yeah right, Oscar Meyer recruited him for over a year but didn’t really want him. Even after he broke your crystal ball you still pursued him. I guess the last time one of your girlfriends (assuming you’ve ever had a girlfriend) ditched you you probably bragged to all your buddies that you could “care less about her”. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

hey maddog….you’re still going to get your sorry a**es kicked again, as u sual, this year regardless of who the puppies have on your sorry no NC winning team Were you born before 1980? I,m sure you remember the last puppy NC. You dogs were probably calling everyone you know on your cell phones when UGA beat Notre Dame for the 1980 NC…Oh I forgot that was so long ago no one even had cell phones. The next NC for the dogs will probably be played on Mars in 2250. In the meantime enjoy watching the Gators in 09 win there 3rd NC in 4 years, but you wouldn’t know much about that Maddog..if I was a puppy fan I’d be a mad dog as well

TampaGator, Congrats on your sucess. I am a dawg fan who lives in SC. I did not go to school at UGA. I did not take school serious and went into the Army. That was the wake up call that got me in gear. I have used the skills I aquired and now have great job and am able to support my family. I have to agree with you, pull for whoever you want just get an education. Because if you get an education you can make an informed, intelligent decision and youl never oull for a team in a sub par league like the ACC.

connorsgp, are you tardy for “school” yet? From the tone of your post - and your butchering of the written English language - I’d say you’re not even a college student. Based on your writing acumen, I’d say you’re in middle school. However, maybe you are an adult. If so, I’d say you’ve never set foot on UF’s campus as a student. As a jort wearing UF football fan, yes, but not as a student. Your team has won 2 of the last 3 NCs and you just can’t seem to enjoy it. So hostile! Did you have a tough night on the third shift? Anyway, you might want to slow down on the PBR beer and get some rest.

Signed - your friend - Maddog.

By the way, connorsgp, can you score me some tickets to that National Championship game that is scheduled to be played on Mars in 2250? My great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-grandchildren would probably like to go to the game. LMAO. Only an imbecile could come up with that one.

Zoo, thanks for your comments. Being a graduate from a University does not require one to go to said school. Some of us were forced to pay our own way through college and could not afford to go where we would have liked. Good luck to OC wherever you go, I wish it would have been Gainesville. You will miss this warm weather!

Looks like Charles isn’t coming to be a dawg…. but that’s not an issue in my mind, it just would have made this year’s recruiting class look stronger ON PAPER.

But no we’re free to offer a scholarship to rising senior Brian Vogler of Brookstone, and from soneone who’s seen him play, we’re going to be JUST FINE at TE for a long time to come with him and Lynch. Dude is 6’7”, 245 lbs, and has hands like a wideout.

Ben, I think you’re right about signing Charles would help us look stronger on PAPER. I do believe he could help us out, but he won’t be used entirely as a tight end. He’s kind of a hybrid (TE/WR) so he could be used in a variety of sets.

Regarding Vogler, I have a friend who has seen him play and says he will be a GREAT prototype TE in college. Sounds like another Pope.

I don’t think signing Charles would keep us from offering Vogler. Just my two cents worth.

MadDog-

Thanks.. I guess.

Since you’re trying to stab at our athletes, I’ll tell you up-front that from what i remember, Ball’s SAT was in the neighborhood of 750.. yes, not impressive. I couldn’t give you the numbers for most of the other guys.. I know the ‘08 class had some pretty good scores, though I can’t be specific.

mcdawg, excellent thought.

He should be a dawg. Nothings doing in Knoxville. Too much uncertainty that Kiffin will stay out of the looney bin. Also at UGA better chance to play sooner, closer to home, with his old HS QB, and at a position that UGA has stocked the NFL with of late.
