He’s not one of Alabama’s major targets, but 6-foot-2, 210-pound quarterback Dylan Shaddix of Eagle’s Landing was among the large group of players who participated in the Crimson Tide’s Junior Day on Saturday.
“It was good,” said Shaddix, who is being recruited by Alabama, Arkansas, Central Florida, Kansas State, Kentucky and Tennessee but is still waiting on his first scholarship offer.
“We did the same tour when I went to a game [in Tuscaloosa last fall]. But we got to see some stuff that we didn’t see on the game weekend, like the academic side.”
Shaddix heard a brief speech from Alabama coach Nick Saban during Saturday’s activities.
“He addressed the whole group, then we broke up into three smaller groups,” said Shaddix, whose recruiting coach at Alabama is Kirby Smart.
Shaddix said the Tide hasn’t discussed a potential offer yet. He noticed that one of his friends, Henry County junior receiver Markeith Ambles, was drawing lots of attention from the Alabama coaching staff.
“Markeith was there and the coaches were following him around,” Shaddix said.
