Florida junior thinks UGA will be a “contender” in 2010

Despite the loss of Matthew Stafford and Knowshon Moreno, Treasure Coast High School junior Jeff Luc thinks UGA will be a contender in 2010.

“They were ranked No. 1 at one point last year, and I’m sure they will correct the mistakes they made and be right back on top,” he said. “Everyone loses players. That’s why they recruit.”

Luc, a 6-foot-1, 235-pound linebacker from Port St. Lucie, is making a Junior Day visit to Athens in March.

The Miami native currently has offers from nearly 12 schools including, Southern Cal, Florida, Miami, FSU, Notre Dame and UGA.

He could not name a favorite, only stating that he liked all the Florida schools.

“I don’t know too much about Georgia, so I definitely want to check them out,” he said.

One of the nation’s top juniors, Luc has been invited to the Under Armour and Army All-American Bowls.

Son, Tell your mom, dad, aunt, uncle, grandma, grandpa or whatever significant person is involved your thoughts and instruct he or she to venture to Las Vegas where a wager can be placed legally. I’m really tired of kids, adults, or the elderly making pronouncements without the power of conviction to put the old money where the mouth is.

Put up or shut up; Leave the kid alone. He has as much right to express his opinion as anyone although it may not carry weight with anyone else. You are talking about a 15 or 16 year old. Remember when,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Jewff Luc, everyone though UGA would be a contender last year. Not trying to disuade you, but you should stay in Fl., if you want to play for a contender. UGA was only the second best team in Ga. last year.

Busy bee,

Sorry you were having to wait so long to say that. Too bad you werent’ ranked at the end of the year. You played your one game Thanksgiving weekend. The rest of the year you were so,so, or pitiful. Yeah, you beat UGA this year, but flukes happen. Enjoy your bragging rights for a few more months.

Leave the kid alone, he is older than you are, and he is not hiding behind his mother’s skirt, as you are.

I have a much better recruting plan..someone tell me why it wont work:

1-forget this 10th grade crap..no contact should be allowed til summer before Junior year unless at a camp.

2-Starting Junior year, the process remains the same EXCEPT, there would be no verbal commitments. Once a player decides, he signs the dotted line THAT DAY. Then his recruitment by all colleges is officially over. Any contact by another school after that would be a violation. If a player isnt sure , then he SHOULDNT SIGN until he is sure.

3-once a player signs with a school, no other visits to other campuses would be allowed.

This would eliminate the waffling and uncertainty that goes on now.

The result of this would be you would have two groups;

a/those who decide early what they want to do; make the decision, and quit worrying about it.
b/those who want to play out the process to the fullest, with all of their visits, the hat dance, the good meals, etc. That is fine, too; but at least with my method, there would be no verbals to back out of and no false expectations.

Coaches might not like this because verbals give them some idea of what they have coming; but they could get that unofficially from the player without the player officially anouncing a verbal(whats the diff, really?) Also with my method the coaches would know no one is going to back out at the last minute and mess up their position numbers.

Why wouldnt this work?

PUT UP OR SHUT UP: You need help. Your are ripping on a high school player, he was simply giving an interview. You (an adult probably) are on a blog with such negative comments. You have problems!

Hey Big Bee-look at the rankings this year you jackass-as usual tech is looking up at Georgia this will never change during your lifetime-if you had any brains after the peach bowl you would lay low until next season.Your only as good as your last game and techs was utterly disgraceful.

Slobberknocker: I agree that most of your ideas would be reaaly good(at leasr in my opinion) but……………….it all makes too much sense. Sadly we can only expect more of the “Coach can’t go to your because you haven’t enrolled yet”.

SlobberK; During a senior moment I omitted the word graduation from my last 10:3o AM post. It should read”Coach can’t attend your graduation because you haven’t enrolled yet”. An early signing period will never happen. With as much coaching turnover as there is in College Football these days, it wouldn’t be fair to have a kid enroll at a school when the coach he signed with is no longer there.

Big Homo,

Yes, we’re fully aware the best offense Yech has had…probably ever, beat the worst defense UGA has had…probably ever, by a whopping 3 points. Things will be back to normal next year. What’s the series lead again, 23 games? :)
