Tennessee tapping into the state of Georgia’s class of 2011

A.J. Johnson, a 6-foot-3, 220-pound sophomore linebacker for Gainesville, received a scholarship offer from an SEC program early Friday.

“Tennessee has offered A.J.,” Gainesville assistant coach Todd Wofford wrote in a text.

“[Volunteers recruiting coordinator Ed] Orgeron offered him.”

Johnson made 160 tackles last season, including nine for a loss, four sacks and six hurries.

We better get used to more and more of UT stealing GA recruits. With as much press as Kiffin is getting his job is getting easier and easier to pull quality guys out from under us.

I knew it!!!!! I knew the AJC would not let a day go by without mentioning Tennessee or Lane Kiffin.

sounds like another violation? i thought the first time you can offer is summer between sophmore and junior years.

Lane don’t care about no violation said he will push it until the NCAA pushes back… See they ain’t done nothing to the real USC or The OSU for the real violations and they want………………..

DawgBark, you must not be a real UGA fan. Kiffin hasn’t proven the ability to steal recruits from UGA. I’d temper the expectations.

Poopdawg, it’s not a violation to verbally offer 2011 kids. UGA has several offers out to sophomores.

Orgeron may be a recruiting animal but he wasn’t much of a head coach at Ole Miss, his teams looked more like Always Miss as in always miss the tackle and always miss the block and always miss the pass. As for Kiffin he was terrible as a coach for the Raiders and will be terrible for UT. I am just wondering who he is going to blame when thing start going badly, surely it won’t be his father.

A SOPH???

Really???

A 15 year old???

The kid was a middle schooler 2 years ago!

That is just plain nuts!!! Does that mean he is all done offering JR’s this year?

Todd Wofford can’t spell Tennessee. Look for Wofford to go to the Vols with Johnson. He is a better recruiter than Kiffin.

This group at Tennessee will hang themselves. First by revoking this offer if this kid doesn’t get bigger and better or gets hurt or a Better player comes along. They are recruiting with a used car sales mentality . As a dawg fan i’m not worried. We can/will sign 15 or 20 players from Georgia every year. The other 125 division players have to go somewhere. Richt will target who he wants AND get most of them. If there are 4 or 5 top notch tight ends, we will likely sign two. The other three or so will end up at Auburn, Tenn. etc. They ( TENN)are blow hards trying to draw a crowd and sell tickets.

JRN, well for one they got Eric Berry a few years ago and Darren Myles this year right out of GA. Don’t be so quick to think less of Kiffin, he’ll end up taking someone we think is going to be a Dawg. I’m just saying we can’t overlook his ability to recruit.

Oh no!!! I am really concerned now. Tennessee has never tried to recruit Georgia players before EVER. Lane Kiffin is truly a real trailblazer. What ingenius idea will he stir up next? I bet Fulmer is really kicking himself for never thinking of this.

You are pitiful! Do you get a thrill running up your leg every time you hear his name. Why don’t report on the Pop Warner offers next

This kid has two years to watch the trainwreck that is about to unfold in Knoxville. Kiffen probably won’t even be around by the time he gets to college.

Total Joke,

Tennessee has beaten you ball lickin’ pups 3 of the last 5 when you azz lickers were supposed to be good, no great (preseason #1 - what a JOKE!), and us mediocre!!! Wait until King Kiffin and Monte have a chance to coach up what we already have!! You ball lickers don’t stand a chance. Mark Dicht is already running scared (pup’s fans are mortified)and Kiffin hasn’t coached a game yet!

Sophomore kids should not be getting football scholarship offers from colleges. This kid is 15 years old and he is already starting to feel the pressure of making a college choice, that is wrong.

Daddy Kiffen is going to coach them up? He was a miserable failure several years ago as head coach at NC State. He and Sonny Boy have both been fired as head coaches. What makes the Vols think things will be different in KNoxville?

Vols are nothing, LOL! Ut is a joke!! Whats up with the fence around tennerssee. We get the two once in a blue moon tennerssee players that are worth a damn and the state runs dry again! Pathetic your whole team has to be from a different state, POSERS, LOL!! Elaine Kitten will get his a$$ rolled at utk.
