Georgia Tech surprises North Gwinnett OL JaWuan James with offer
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Categories
Georgia Tech coach Paul Johnson made the most out of his first meeting with JaWuan James, one of the state’s top 2010 prospects.
Johnson offered the North Gwinnett offensive lineman on the spot on Thursday. “He said he would love for me to come play for Georgia Tech,” James said. “He talked about academics, how it is one of the best academic programs in the country.
“Coach Johnson said ‘We think academics first, then football … because you can’t play football forever. You have got to have a backup plan in life. That’s why we stress academics and push our players to get their degrees.’ My [family] was impressed.”
The 6-foot-7, 290-pound James has around 20 early offers, including UGA, Florida, Tennessee, Alabama and Vanderbilt.
“Coach Johnson said they looked at my film, and thought that I was probably the best offensive lineman in Georgia … he said my athleticism is what makes me different than everybody else … he likes how I get after the linebackers on the [second level] of blocking,” James said.
James said he was caught off guard by the day’s turn of events. The original plan was to take a campus tour with Tech assistant Jeff Monken.
“I had no idea that Georgia Tech was going to offer me,” James said. “I’ve been talking over the phone with [Monken] and he never mentioned it. And then I didn’t expect to talk with Coach Johnson. I had never met him before. They took me in Coach Johnson’s office and we talked for about 30 minutes … everything really surprised me. It was a great visit.”
What’s next for James? On Friday, he is scheduled to meet with UGA coach Mark Richt and assistant Stacey Searels, who is in charge of the team’s offensive linemen. The Bulldogs offered James on Jan. 31. On Saturday, James said he will make an overnight trip to Alabama.
“This will be my fourth time to Georgia … I’m going back to get a better feel for the place,” James said. “With Georgia and Georgia Tech in my backyard, I want to get to both places as much as I can to talk the coaches and players. That was my second time to Georgia Tech. I went to the Miami game [last season], but it was a Thursday game and I didn’t get there until late and I didn’t really get to talk to the coaches.”

I hope President Obama included some funding for mental health services in his stimulus plan because some of these bloggers are sexual perverts and insane. Just remember that some young people read these sites. You are exposing kids to mental deviance and attention-seeking behavior. Your comments have nothing to do with the blog. To just write something inflammatory and deviant, is a reflection of your lack of class. You are not expressing the views of UGA. As a true Dawg fan, I denounce you. Go DAWGS.

RealityYech:
As I have stated in previous post you give UGAG and college football fans a bad rap.
Your pointless dribble is not wanted nor needed on these blogs.
After reading your post on this blog you should be banned from posting.
AJC do your job and clean up these post.
Chew on that PUPPY.

Tech fan…I totally agree. I wish the AJC would require actual e-mail addys for posting…then just MAYBE we could have some meaningful and reasonably intelligent sports blogs here!
In the mean time, we are stuck looking through the insane drivel of “reality yech”, “ramble on” and countless others. HOWEVER…in this case the “reality yech” posting above is a tech imposter making fun of the REAL reality yech…probably “ramble on”. He is here all day every day…really sad!

I agree with the other posters. This site is read by alot of kids and their families looking to keep up with their loved ones college recruitment. The “real” Reality Yech and the fake one should show some class and dignity. I know some of y’all are fanatics about the rivalry, but please keep it about football and not this other stuff. But at the end of the day I blame the AJC for allowing this stuff to be published, sexual perverts (like above) rascist (like Bravesfan79) and generally vulgar comments should not be allowed to post here.

Thank you Dawgtime, Tech Fan, Minnesota Jacket, UGA91, and O’keefe 59.
It’s really nice to know that there are others on these blogs that understand that children read them and that all these selfish brats, who keep making these juvenile posts, are doing is wasting everyone else’s time.
I’m not sure if they’re too dense to understand, or just too rude/selfish to care, that we are here to discuss sports. Regardless; whether we agree, or disagree, on the particular topic, we don’t have to be disagreeable or rude, and I thank you five for you taking the “high road”.

Maybe we as UGA and Tech fans should demand the AJC clean up these blogs or we as fans start a major boycott. The AJC should show some responsibility and either ban some posters or shut down the blog once it has gotten out of control.

Mike;
I think you might have an idea here. Perhaps some of us should look for an alternative blog site for us real sports fans to chat on, that we know is monitored, and then we can totally ignore the AJC altogether.
* Perhaps then, and only then, the AJC will start to get the point that the people who actually bought their papers, and actually had the money to spend on their advertisers, were chased away by these selfish simpletons.*
At that point, we could leave these so called “blogs” to the children to play in, like the mud puddles they deserve. As far as I’m concerned, they could then wallow in the mud at that point, and the AJC could sink in the quicksand with them.
If there is anyone who knows of another sports blog that’s monitored, and that local sports fans can chat, please let us know. It shouldn’t matter what team you support as long as you keep it clean; not personal. In other words, about sports.
In the meantime, I’ll do some investigating on my own.

AJC,
If you are going to use Obama/Socialist style censorship then any disparging remarks made towards those that you’re not allowing to defend themselves (how Socalist of you) should be removed as well.
There is a fake RealityYech above and others that have attacked me. I suspect you’ll do the fair and right thing since you’re resorting to Nazi tactics now.

Tech Wrecked…AGAIN, get a life dude. So I’m on here all day, how do you know? Takes one to know one, Huh? Which is probably who you are, Huh?, or Maddog, or all the above. How many names do you have?
I haven’t seen “Tech Wrecked…AGAIN”…who were you yesterday?
I don’t say lewd or vulgar things (maybe douchebag now and then), nor do I pretend to me other people. My imposters do. I use one, and only one name.
You don’t what to here from me…then, don’t call me out, mutt!
BILLY JACK, as much as I hate the fleabags, I do not think Ga. Southern players are better than UGAg’s.

Personally, I hope JaWuan stays in State, no matter who he plays for. He sounds like a solid kid and it would be a shame for him to get away from either school.
No matter what, though, I wish him the very best, and I thank the AJC for finally bringing some civility to these blogs.

The “G” stands for Georgia, you big dummy!
It would be awfully difficult to weed out some of the more ridiculous posts and I doubt the AJC would devote the time to do so. However, surely the AJC could find a way to set things up to where a person is required to register under one name. They would then have to sign on with a password. Granted, there’s always loopholes, but this might suppress some from posting under numerous names. I’m sure others have better ideas, but I came up with this one during a lull in business at the junkyard.
I like the good natured back-and-forth, but some truly cross the line of good taste.
Anyway, that’s my two cents worth.
