Warner Robins DT Jeffrey Whitaker to visit Tennessee over UGA

Jeffrey Whitaker, one of the country’s top 2010 prospects at defensive tackle, said he plans to go to Tennessee over UGA on his next unofficial visit.

The Warner Robins junior said he was invited to both SEC campuses for Junior Day on Feb. 28.

“I want to check out Tennessee,” Whitaker said. “At first, I planned to go to Georgia. But then, I thought about it … I’ve been there [Georgia] so many times … I should probably see some other schools. I was at Georgia last year for Junior Day, so I know how they operate.”

Whitaker said he hasn’t had much contact with Georgia since January. “It has been a minute. I haven’t talked to them too much. But that’s not much of anything. I know what Georgia has to offer. I’ve been up there so many times, I know all about Georgia.”

Whitaker, who has nearly 15 offers, laughed when asked about rumors he had committed early to both Georgia and North Carolina. “I heard about that, too … but none of it is true. I’m wide open.”

I have no problems with Jeff visiting Rocky Top or wherever. He should. Because when he commits to Georgia (and he already has secretly), then he can’t visit any more schools. So go see the world now young man.

Wow, more anti-Georgia recruiting propaganda and distortion of facts. Do you really believe the misleading headlines effect recruiting? No. UGA signed a top 10 class. GT signed a class rated between 40th and 50th. How many stories were written about the kids that selected other schools than UGA? The WR that stuck with GT was built up as a top 10 recruit when in fact he is not even a top 100 kid. We signed a top 10 WR in Marlon Brown. Why did Greg Reid select FSU over UGA? What? He never committed to UGA. Why did the GT commit switch to Troy? Your bias is very obvious, but useless. The DT, Jeff Whitaker, out of Warner Robins is a future DAWG. He is just a young man exploring what’s out there. Stick to the facts. We are the flagship for the state for a reason. Much of this sounds like middle school drama. Grow up and become a responsible blogger. Oh by the way, Mark Richt and his staff recruit the right way because they actually scout kids. Why rush an offer based off the beliefs of some “recruiting guru”? We don’t have to beg and threaten a kid with the threat of pulling a scholarship if he checks out other schools. That is based on an inferiority complex. We know that we are a great school and trust that the right kids will realize that. Go DAWGS.

He needs to see Knoxville. Just seeing that place, especially that hunk of steel they call a stadium, could seal the deal for UGA.

Maybe he’ll see and touch the Sear’s Trophy while in Knoxville. Can’t do that in Athens.

Jim, you better prefer this young man commit before he ever sees a superior (to UGa’s)football palace in Neyland Stadium. Neyland is bigger by about 15,000, more visually impressive in every way, and now, finishing the second part of a facelift, is unparalleled in the SEC.

Good luck to the young man in this important decision.

What a misleading headline.

So a high school junior who says he has had many visits to Athens plans to make an unofficial visit to UT. That’s newsworthy?

How about finding the real scoop, like did he decide to eat lunch today at Burger King “over” McDonalds?

Dead head article.

The headline is strictly to stir up UGA fans so that we click on his pathetic story and make him look good. Not really looking good, Carvell, but then not many of you are. Story tellers, justify my salary by making something up, etc., etc……

In my oft used description of the AJC Sports staff - Pathetic.

Yet another up and coming recruit who knows UGA is no longer the biggest dog on the block. When CPJ sets his sights on him he will be all Jacket. Let’s see, to play in the pathetic SEC and lose to the Gators every year, or to play in the ACC and actually compete for national titles? That’s a toughie!!

Jeffery, I look forward to seeing you in the white and gold. You’ll be able to play for the best football program in the country, and out side of the Ivy League, get the best education in the country. It’s a win/win for you either way.

THWG!!!! 45-42!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In response to UGA INSIDER:

Its nice to know you don’t have a problem with Jeff visiting Tennessee. He probably should call you for your permission.

UGA could’t even own Tennessee during Fulmer’s down years. What makes you think things will be different under LK.

Harold Bare, have you been sniffing again? UGA won 6 out of 9 against UT this decade. Are you saying Fulmer was “down” for 9 years? LMAO!!

Ugh, with all the bad news about Kiffin you wouldn’t think these guys would want to visit UT. I guess all the publicity is only helping the Vols.

Nothing to do with the young man; he should check out his options and make the best decision for him.

However, in response to a blogger, if Sanford had the seats crowded as close together as Neyland, we would already seat 115,000. The aesthetics of Neyland cannot compare to Sanford.

Most kids want to play in front of more people, they could care less about aesthetics. Just being honest.

No worry here about whittaker. Saw him a couple of different times shooting hoops @ the Baxter courts in ATHENS. He’s already made himself at home. Viles, stop begging! You can’t hang with the big Dawgs with all the talent in this state! Goff and Donnan was the only reason you started doing well here in the first place! Richt will make sure you keep you only compete for the ones he doesn’t want.
