Union County WR Gowder set for Junior Days at Alabama, Central Florida and UGA

The statewide talent at wide receiver has become deeper with the emergence of Union County’s Blake Gowder, who caught 77 passes for 1,453 yards last fall during his junior season.
The 6-foot-2, 215-pound Gower, who was recently clocked at 4.53 seconds in the 40-yard dash, has been invited to three upcoming Juniors Days: Alabama on Saturday, Central Florida on Feb. 28 and Georgia on March 21.
“I don’t have an offer yet, but I’m getting a lot of mail from Duke, Georgia Tech, Washington State, Syracuse, Maryland and Arkansas,” Gowder said.
Gowder played solely at wide receiver for Union County last season. He’s expected to go both ways this fall and see action at linebacker.
“To be honest, I would like to play fullback,” he said. “If it was my choice, that’s where I’d play [in college].
“I’m being recruited as an athlete. I can play wide receiver, linebacker or fullback. Alabama is talking about playing me at fullback. But I’m willing to play any position.”

Wow, this kid plays some unusal other positions to be primarly used at WR. 6’2 fullback at 215? LB? Interesting article. I’m curious to learn what position he’ll end up playing at the next level. And where the heck is Union County? North or south?

Union county is way up in the mountains. North of Dahlonega. I don’t think a memorable football player has come from those parts in years.
