UGA target Kwame Geathers may announce Friday, says report

Georgia could sign two more players for its 2009 recruiting class, defensive tackle Kwame Geathers of Carver’s Bay, S.C., and tight end Orson Charles of Tampa.

Geathers, the younger brother of former UGA standout Robert Geathers, said he is considering scholarship offers from Central Florida, Georgia and Tennessee, according to TotalUGA.com. When asked about his long-awaited decision, Geathers told the website “I’ll probably do it Friday.”

Meanwhile, Charles plans to announce after he visits Southern Cal on Feb. 20. He is considering the Trojans, along with Florida, Georgia and Tennessee. Charles recently told the AJC he hopes to have a final decision by March 6, at the latest.

Charles is ranked as the nation’s No. 62 overall prospect by Rivals.

Kwame, I hope you decide on UCF. You can play with Troup and cousin Jarvis on the D-line.

I hope you choose Georgia. The other choices aren’t programs on the rise. No doubt about it. Good luck!!

Can you believe anything on UGA Sports? They wrote that CMR “confirmed” that Georgia did NOT offer Kwame. Oh, that story conveniently disappeared. Now they wrote up somethin on Kwame today, talking about some “exclusive” interview w/Geathers a month ago. A month ago? Huh? wth? They shoulda never let Dawgpost hire away CS

Kwame has an excellent predigree. If he choses correctly, he will flourish under the direction of Defensive Coach Monte Kiffin.

Tennessee has an idiot coach who’s absolutely unproven at his new school. He was unproven in Oakland and we all know how that turned out. UGA was preseason #1 and look what they did with their most recent opportunity to win a National Title. Mark Richt didn’t even stay to coach his school’s bowl game at FSU before he was lured to UGA. How’s that for loyalty? Kwame, your best bet is Florida. Too bad they haven’t offered. UCF has been to their Conference Title game in two of their first three years in the conference. They won the title in 2007. Needless to say, if Championships is what you’re after, UCF is your school. Plus, who can say no to Florida weather?

Why in the world are ut fans talking any crap? Their program and coach is an embarrasment to college football… go back to your non electric shack in the hills…

Is this Geathers guy any good? SC didn’t even want him to play defense if I’m not mistaken. I’m not going to follow that one closely.

Orson would be a awesome pick up though. If he doesn’t become a Dawg, I hope he goes outside the SEC. Some of the recruits we missed out on at least didn’t go to rival schools for the most part(ie.Greg Reid, Jarvis Jones).

UT is going down the Hard road! Kiffin has really put them in a bad place to be. I know he is trying to get energy into the program, but you do that with winning in BIG games not loseing recruits to you rivals and talking smack to two teams that are in your own divsion that will prob beat the brakes of you next year. UGA’s D is going to be nasty next year!!!! We are loaded with talent especially all the guys that got red shirted last year. GOOD LUCK KITTIN (GO DAWGS) all the rest can drink your HATER-RADE!!!!!!!!!

If your ultimate goal is to eventually be playing on Sundays, look for the school/coach with the biggest NFL pipelines.

SEC Dude, you need to get your facts straight. CMR did stay and coach FSU in their bowl game before he came to UGA. So before you get on here running your mouth, be sure that you know what you’re talking about and to Listen Kwame, if the two players that you mentioned are the only two that you can, wow that sure does make you an NFL pipeline. How about two projected first rounders this year, not to mention the many others that UGA has put in the NFL. How about Champ Bailey? How about Hines Ward? You need to sit down, shut up, and stop making yourself look stupid. GO DAWGS!!!!

Nice call Listen Kwame. UCF has a lot more players in the NFL thn UGA. Thanks for making a point for us. Fellas, I have lost count, what are we up to now, 38,39, or maybe 40? It has been a while since I looked.

SEC (moron) Dude, don’t know what Mark Richt coaching in his final bowl game at FSU has to do with anything. You could at least get your facts straight if you are going to bring it up. Richt was the offensive coordinator in the bowl game. He has stated many times that it may not have been the best idea, because he was trying to do two jobs at once. There were also a lot of players who chose other schools over UF. IMO most of them did it for a better opportunity to play early. UF is a fine program and I am not criticizing them, but you are one of those fans that spouts off at the mouth, and thinks his school is the best choice for all players offered. I will say in fairness that many UGA fans are the same way, and I don’t agree with them either.

If Lane can get the running game going to take some pressure off the QB, then I think UT will be fine. I know they have a ton of talent, and the D should be good. I don’t think they will beat UF, but UGA has to play at UT and they have there own problems to sort out. USC needs to find a TB and a QB, so I think the #2 spot in the east is up for grabs, and we will have to see if anyone will be able to challenge the Gators. I am not a big fan of fans trash talking, because you didn’t do anything, you weren’t on the field. If you have to talk smack based on what a team you root for does, then you need a life. With that said, I can understand people talking trash when the team they root for is good, but UT fans don’t have much room for trash talk. You guys lost to Wyoming at home. UT is the second winningest program in the SEC (winning %, and SEC titles), and you lost to Wyoming at home. I do hope UT returns as one of the best programs in the SEC. I think having so many really good programs is what makes the SEC great. I don’t want to see the same team win every year. I know some teams have dominated at times, but you don’t see teams win the SEC 3, 4, 5 times in a row. The better the competition is for UGA, the better we will have to be to keep up, and that is the way I like it. I would rather win the SEC occasionally, then win the BIG TEN every other year, and get embarrassed in a BCS bowl because,I play in a weak conference.

BUMP your post Conyers Dawg! The AJC blog has the most hateful posters of any sports web-site I visit (in general, NOT ALL of you). Maybe that’s why seemingly everybody in ATL driving on 285, 75, 85, and 20 act like they are ready to “meet their maker” as they drive 90 mph on their cell phones, failing to signal, tailgating, and getting mad at the rest of us for maintaining a safe distance and a safe speed.

For the record, # of CURRENT PLAYERS on NFL rosters:

UGA - 43 Tenn - 37 Fla - 38 UCF - 17 USC Trojans not Gamecocks - 39

Kwame is well aware of where he wants to spend his athletic and academic career - a place where he can flourish on the football field and in the classroom. The coaches believe in their student athletes and work tirelessly to guide them to be the best that they can be athetically and academicly. Athens, Georgia is where that can happen! Hope to see you soon, Kwame.

One more fact to offer about the NFL pipeline: The school that has produced the most Super Bowl MVP’s is Georgia with Hines Ward (Pittsburgh SB XL), Terrell Davis (Denver Broncos SB XXXII), and Jake Scott (Miami Dolphins SB VII). I know most folks are focused on here and now, but Georgia has NFL tradition that dates back quite a ways.

I wish that all of you Georgia fans will keep on talkin until we play you this up coming season. Coach Kiffin is getting in your skin, and we all can tell that it is frustrating all of you Georgia Bulldog fans. I still wish that we had Coach Fulmer, but I support what ever decision the University of Tennessee makes. Athletic Director Mike Hamilton hired a heck of a recruiter, and it has shown already in this recruiting season. I hope he hired a good head coach. We all no that Coach Lane Kiffin did well at the University of Southern California as Offensive Coordinator under Head Coach Pete Carroll. All I have to say now is that it is time for Lane Kiffin to shine and put Tennessee back on top of the SEC. Kwame Geathers sign the letter to Knoxville, Tennessee and shine as a Tennessee Volunteer. Go Vols!!!!!

Since Foulup Foolmer left and the loudmouth idiot Lane Kippin took over the Vuls, Charles will likely join Geathers in the Dawg camp. It ought to be a good year since the Gameclucks, Alabumah, All-barn, Tin-nasty and the Flatulah Gators don’t have nothin to brag about (especially since Percy left for the NFL).

UCF is the only school that gave Kwame the assurance that he would play DT. And with the returning players and recruiting class it is expected that UCF will win the Conference USA championship. The athletes get their degrees, the weather is fantastic and the coeds……….

Come to UCF Kwame and you will not regret the experience.
