Lowndes junior will join Greg Reid at Florida State
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Categories
Greg Reid, the AJC’s Player of the Year, said he wasn’t surprised to see one of his junior teammates from Lowndes High quickly accept a scholarship from Florida State.
Offensive tackle Ed Christian committed to the Seminoles as soon as they made an early offer. The 6-foot-5, 285-pound Christian plans to join two Lowndes seniors, Reid and defensive back Gerald Demps, who both signed with FSU.
“Shoot, Ed better come play with us at Florida State … we’re going to have the team over there,” Reid said.

had clueless mark richt made the right decisions for his football team, these kids would stay home and play for the dawgs. he is so clueless of the fact that willie martinez is a mediocre defensive coordinator that he has convince himself that the his players are the reason he can’t win the big games.
he has also convinced himself that his mediocre offensive coordinator is a good coordinator. if you win championships these top recruits will play for you.

What? These comments are irrational and childish. The puerility of the two others is very evident. There blog comments have no basis or legitimacy. What does Mark Richt have to do with the offensive linemen from Valdosta that committed to FSU? Nothing. Stick to some resemblance of logic when you post something. The Reid kid committed to the Gators many months ago and changed his mind late. He decided to play for FSU which is comparatively near his home. No issue with UGA. UGA did offer him early but he had other interest and that is okay. I wish him well at FSU. In terms of questioning Willie Martinez and Mike Bobo, I have to wonder why and what it has to do with the mentioned kids. I too questioned why Mark Richt retained Willie Martinez, but that is spilt milk now. I promise you that Mark Richt has more information about the situation than someone calling mythical people hicks. The fact is that Mark Richt has the most to gain or lose from a great season or a losing season. Stop declaring yourself an expert because you watch it on television. In terms of Mike Bobo, how many points did UGA average last year? Yelp, they had a very productive offense. Yelp, your comment was baseless and impractical. Stop writing stupid stuff. Go Dawgs.

Kids down in south Georgia are geographically closer to Florida and Florida State, and until UGA consistently out performs them on the field, they will lose players to those schools in south Georgia.

Not going to be the only Div 1 out of Lowndes in 2010. Michael Copeland, Delvin Smith, Jordan Black, and Khary Franklin are all good possibilities.

tbones you are correct. I have friends from South Ga and they have told me for years they identify more with the schools nearby them rather than the state schools like UGA and Tech.

well really this is no big loss this kid has size and nothing else. i’ve watched him for 2 years he regularly gets manhandled by defensive linemen who are almost the same size. in the 2008 game with northside warner robins ( uga signee Aubry Jones ) ran all over him, the vikings had to provide a running back to help or tight end for most of the game once the coaches saw he couldn’t stop aubry. why do you think he’s not listed on any of the recruiting sites ? because he’s just a big kid who has not got any game

This young man has picked a good school. However, he has not seen other top programs and is shortchanging himself. By visiting other programs he can compare them to FSU and decide that he either made the right decision or he didn’t realize there were better opportunities for him out there. I hope he will make make his visits.

TO THE DAWGTIME BLOGGER, GET IT RIGHT, THE KID IS FROM LOWNDES NOT valdosta… BIG DIFFERENCE AND TO THE SUPPOSED lowndescountyfan BLOGGER..YOU ARE NOT A FAN AT ALL WHEN YOU MAKE DISPARAGING COMMENTS ABOUT ONE OF YOUR OWN.

lowndescountyfan last I checked this kid was an all state offensive lineman last year. Also, last I checked you will find him on Rivals and he has been there for quite some time.

I wonder if his choice to attend FSU was similar to Greg Reid’s. Straight from Reid’s mouth:
“I really like Georgia and the coaches. It’s a fun place. I just felt like it was too far from home and I’d probably have to work a little harder [to compete for a starting position] with the other people in front of me.”
Maybe that’s a good recruiting pitch at FSU - you won’t have to work as hard to gain a starting spot.

You only blocked Abry twice because he was past you before you could lay a hand on him the whole rest of the game. Have fun at Free Shoes U.

Why can’t you all grow up and just wish the young man well next year at Lowndes County and then when he heads off to FSU?
These kids work hard to make it through High School to have an opportunity to play College ball, and once they get offers, and make a selection of their choosing, you people degrade these kids like they’re greyhounds.
Maybe you all need to go back to High School and see if any of you could do half as well as any of them, and then try to live up to any of the obscene comments about yourself, and the various programs, that litter the web.
These kids handle themselves, and the abuse they take from all of you, better than the way each of you respond to all of your petty insults day in, and day out.
Grow up or leave these blogs alone. Serious sports fans are tired of your rubbish. These kids deserve better, no matter which Team they choose to play for.

Congrats Ed, I am a huge Dawg fan, but I like seeing a kid who knows where he wants to attend just go ahead and commit. You can still take visits if you really want to (unless you commit early to gt) and you know a scholly is there at your intended school when signing day arrives.
