DT Kwame Geathers deciding between UGA, Tennessee and Central Florida

Defensive end Kwame Geathers of Carver’s Bay, S.C., who is one of the Southeast’s top unsigned seniors, is mulling over offers from Georgia, Tennessee, and Central Florida, his coach told Palmetto Sports.

The 6-foot-6, 310-pound Geathers is the younger brother of Robert Geathers, who played for UGA.

Dave Hooker of the Knoxville News is predicting that Geathers will sign with Tennessee, where Geathers visited on Wednesday and Thursday. Geather’s father told Scout.com his son has scholarship papers from UGA and could make his college decision as early as next week.

Kwame Geathers would be a great addition for our defensive front. We need DT and DE that are athletic and Kwame fits that bill. He would look great in red and black. Go DAWGS!

I thought Georgia had already met it’s quota for players with strange names?

Sooooo, if Kwame signs with UT do we get to stomp around, throw a temper tantrum, and go cry to daddy kiffs? Kiffin is a punk kid that needs to get his panties out of a wad and realize that no one wants to play for him, not even the top 2 recruits in their state. Of course the Tenn. newspaper guy predicts he will sign with UT. Too bad for him, ESPN has Geathers going to UGA… see

I would love to have this guy in Athens. You can never have too many O-linemen. Especially one with his size and athleticism. Follow in your brother’s footsteps and head west young man.

Jumpy Geathers is his uncle. My bet is that he ends up signing with UCF. They have been recruiting him the longest and that is where he will have the opportunity to make the biggest impact. UGA hasn’t even guaranteed him the opportunity to play DT, which is where he wants to be. His cousin is at UCF and is obviously trying to convince him to go there too.

BravesFan79 - Kwame is the nephew of former Falcon Jumpy Geathers. Kwame’s Dad also played in the NFL.

Go to UCF. Much better in my opinion.

Kwame, you will get lost in the mix at the other two schools and @ UCF you will be starting your freshman season!

Go UCF!

rivals said richt confirmed kwame did not have georgia offer last week. im totally confused. who is telling the truth? rivals? scout? richt? geathers? i mean, geez, if i have to bet, i’d go with CMR.

Where’s the sense in Richt publicly stating he wants Geathers if there’s no offer on the table? Come on now….

Kwame would look real good in Black and Gold. I hope we get him because we need him. He has an opportunity to get acclimated to the college lifestyle as a Freshman while his cousin is still here.

Dawg4life…you humor me. You cut and paste an ESPN article from a month ago. If you will notice, it did not even have TN listed as an option and it CLEARLY is now. I don’t care where he goes, but if he chooses UCF over UT or UGA…he is crazy. Picking that school over an SEC school that gets national attention would be head scratching material.

Hope he comes to UCF. He would have a monster career and play with his cousin and torell troooooupp. Plus UCF is awesome. go knights!!!

Don’t go to a second rate school like UCF. There fan base and alumni
are pathetic at best. For gods sake they give away home game tickets at Publix supermarkets. Be better, be a bulldawg.

No, Richt didn’t say anything about Geathers. He can’t mention recruits by name until they sign. Have you guys not heard of the mess Loon Kiffin is in up in Knoxville at the Yoonivursitee of Tenasy?

Hey drugsbyjoe, you’re obviously on drugs. UCF does not give away tickets…believe that would be South Florida that has to give away tickets to get people to see Big East games. The plus on UCF as an FSU guy…UCF fans don’t go around barking like dogs before games.

UCF has better looking women! The football team needs Kwame more that UGA and UT needs him. You will be a human wrecking ball at UCF. At UT, just another player with a lot of drama with a new coach. UGA, I respect them, great team, but again, they will move you to Offense line by next year.

Kwame, make the right choice and pick UCF.

Kiffy gonna offer him the world to come to UT. Then he can say he took a UGA recruit. That could be the only victory KIffy will ever have in his soon to be short career at UT.

UT is iffy at best, chances are Kiffy will continue to put his foot in his mouth each week.

We should make a statement and do something no other coach has done. Since he has dared to visit other campuses we should immediately “pull” his scholarship offer:) That would show him!

By PuziKnight

February 14, 2009 2:36 PM | Link to this

Maddog,

I sure we won’t do something like that. Kwame should be allowed to take as long as he wants. He would be a great fit here.

GO KNIGHTS!!!

Why would Kwame move to the O line when we have so much depth? Remember, the Dawgs already signed Chris Burnette, Austin Long, and Dallas Lee, plus the whole experienced line we’re bringing back from last year. So that defeats the argument in my opinion that he would move to the O line.

If I remember correctly someone had said that this kid is the best out of the three brothers. He would be a great addition to the Dawg family. I hope he goes through and comes play between the hedges. What better family rivalry could you ask for when the lamecocks come visiting. Best of luck where ever you decide to play. Go Dawgs

I wish that all of you Georgia fans will keep on talkin until we play you this up coming season. Coach Kiffin is getting in your skin, and we all can tell that it is frustrating all of you Georgia Bulldog fans. I still wish that we had Coach Fulmer, but I support what ever decision the University of Tennessee makes. Athletic Director Mike Hamilton hired a heck of a recruiter, and it has shown already in this recruiting season. I hope he hired a good head coach. We all no that Coach Lane Kiffin did well at the University of Southern California as Offensive Coordinator under Head Coach Pete Carroll. All I have to say now is that it is time for Lane Kiffin to shine and put Tennessee back on top of the SEC. Go Vols!!!!!
