Sandy Creek DB Isiah Johnson flattered by Georgia Tech’s Paul Johnson

Sandy Creek junior defensive back Isaiah Johnson said he was impressed Georgia Tech offered him a football scholarship. But he was even more impressed it came from coach Paul Johnson himself.

“It really made me feel good knowing he wants me there with him,” he said. “He’s in charge of everything.”

The 6-foot-2, 183-pound junior received the offer from Tech during his Junior Day visit. He also has an offer from Duke.

“I think N.C. State or Vanderbilt will be the next to offer,” he said. “I’m arranging visits to those schools in the next few months as well.”

Johnson said even though he only has two offers, Georgia Tech is his top choice. “It’s close to home, and I already feel comfortable with the coaches.”

Johnson said he hopes to commit in the late spring or early summer. “I just want to know where I’m going.”

I was just wondering if you guys from the AJC can get the stats of these upcoming juniors when you post recruiting information…I don’t know if that is possible but it would be helpful. Big kid for playing safety though at 6’2

I definitely like his size. I would love for UGA to start getting 6+ foot DB’s. I’m tired of the idea that a 5’9 and under DB is the way to go.

I agree. I just don’t see these 5-9 DB’s covering a 6-4,6-5 receiver on a jump ball in the end zone. Calvin J made a nice living with that.

Tech is moving fast.According to my count, they have already offered 15-16 for next year and they have said they want to sign 12-15.I like this kids size also plus his speed—-4.6second 40 and will probably improve on that.

Hey Wes don’t forget Andrew Gardner also. Plus their RB Raijon Neal is good too, hope he comes to Tech.
