RB Storm Johnson switches high schools for senior year

Storm Johnson, one of the state’s top tailbacks for 2010, has transferred high schools, according to his family.

Johnson, who helped Buford win this past season’s Class AA championship, has enrolled this week at Loganville.

Johnson has early offers from Tennessee, Stanford, Central Florida and Auburn.

I wonder if this switch has anything to do with Mike Davis, (younger brother of James Davis)transferring to Buford after playing his Freshman season at Douglass HS in Atlanta. You think!!!

Let me get this right, you go from a program where you have a chance to win a state championship every year, to one that you have no chance, HUM……

This kid backed up Cody Getz and got tired of playing 2nd fiddle and wanted to go where he would get more playing time.

Heard he did real well only getting the ball 8 times a game in a back-up role at Buford. I’m sure he will be the workhorse for Loganville. Good Move!

This kid can be good…He refuses to put his head down and run through the tackles. He is cocky and is 2nd rated. His dad b*** every game due to not getting the ball more than Cody. without Cody, we don’t win the championship lasy year.. Storm and his daddy screwed themselves out of a championship this year..Good job dumbass!!!

cody getz, a senior, had two (2) total carries more than storm johnson, a junior, in 2008, with getz gaining only 113 more rushing yards than johnson. “second fiddle” and “back up role” are both rash exaggerations by fact and football sense.

Some football players play. Others are playmakers. You give the ball to your playmaker. Not a kis who plays and ends up with the same offer he had to sign with. Buford is the a**, not Storm or his folks. Loganville sounds like an excellent move.

Westward Bound and Coach Rob,

Some people are stupid, and some people just hit “post” six times while not reading the bold print below the comment box that says “There will be a delay of up to 5 minutes before your comment appears.” Actually, those people may be the same people.

And the fact that, as Block3 points out, Getz had 2 more carries yet over 100 more yards just tells me Coach Simpson wasn’t giving Getz the ball enough. All I saw out of Johnson when they played Buford was a big slow kid who doesn’t want to block. I’ll take Mack Brown from MLK or Juwan Thompson over him any day.

i don’t think anyone who has seen storm johnson play would dispute his god-given athletic ability. and i also agree that you give the ball to your play maker. what i would encourage one to consider: in 2008 johnson carried the ball only two (2) less times than getz yet rushed for 113 less yards and 7 less TDs. if play makers make explosive plays, then the the numbers don’t make sense. i think you have to be careful characterizing him as THE play maker.

if storm wants more touches his senior year, cool. but you are hard pressed, beyond irrational and out of bounds to throw buford under the bus. football is about WE, not me.

I am always amazed how some of you IDIOTS talk about 16 and 17 year old KIDS. Some of you guys need to get a life (Coach Rob and jmac) The fact is none of you guys have ever experienced the kind of accolades this kid is getting and you’re jealous. To call someone 2nd rate is low class, jmac. I don’t know the kid or have any affiliation with either school but I hope everything works out for ALL involved.

Jay Watt, you didn’t see the kid at practice and at every game except Dallas TX. He always wanted to make “THE” play and he couldn’t hold onto the ball. His father ruined his career at Buford. Parents have to be smarter, take the Cross boys at Flowery Branch. Will he start at Loganville? Yes. Will he rush for 1400 yars? No, he’s not that good and as Buford wins another championship this December, his dad will feel pretty damn stupid sitting in his new house watching us on PBS.

I appreciate those who posted the exact same message multiple times, simply because you failed to read this sentence just below the post button: “There will be a delay of up to 5 minutes before your comment appears.”

Sure makes staying up on you easier for those who learned that simple little lesson in grade school known as paying attention.

They play small kids, just like their coaches. But with that said, playing in a very weak region, he should do fine. 1 winning season in i dont know how many years, probably bad career move for him but well see.

IF THIS KID HAS THE OFFERS THAT THEY SAY HE HAS THEN THIS IS A BAD MOVE B/C I WOULD BE 2ND STRING, WITH A RING & D1 OFFERS, SAVE MY BODY FOR THE LONG RUN BUT THATS WHAT KNOWLEDGE IS ALL ABOUT!!

Loganville already had a 1,000 yard rusher last year and he was only a sophomore with pretty good speed, looks like he might be a second fiddle again, I know the coach at Loganville, and Storm will have to earn his position, it’s not just going to be handed to him.

umm…That guys name you are talking about who got 1000 yards that years is Mykel Wyett…he is no longer at loganville…he also transfered to a different school…so storm moving here to loganville was a lucky thing for caoch godfree..we needed a running back… BAD :-)..he also represents our school well already. I am proud to say that Storm will be a good asset to our school, our football team, and our community,

Why is everybody up in arms? We all know that you can pay tuition and go to Buford if you like, maybe the family situation changed and they could no longer afford for him to go to Buford anymore…how about maybe they actually moved. Whatever the reason it shouldn’t matter. All the negative opinions are senseless. Obviously the D1 schools that have already offered him evaluate talent differently than any of you…and since none of you have scholarships to give, you should really spare us all you negative observations. Go get your own accolades and awards. Do something more positive with yourself other than throwing stones a kid and his family for making a decision that you do not agree with.

If the father did what he thought was in his kids best interest, then he is a good father. If Buford don’t think they need the kid, they should stop crying. His career has started so it can’t be ended. A lot of good RB’s went to small schools and were fine in college. You don’t have to win the state to get a D1 offer. He’s already on their radar and they will follow him. Doing well at summer combines will help get him more offers than just alternating at Buford.
