South Paulding DB Ryan Ayers considers committing to Georgia Tech
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Categories
Less than two weeks after he attended Junior Day at Georgia Tech, the Jackets have become an early leader to land a commitment from South Paulding cornerback Ryan Ayers.
“I’m very interested in Georgia Tech,” said the 5-foot-10, 178-pound Ayers, who received a scholarship offer from Tech on Jan. 31. “I just like them right now.
“If I get to like the school a lot and get comfortable, I might commit early. I’m definitely going to go back and watch them practice in the spring.”
Ayers has offers from Arkansas, Duke, Georgia Tech, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Vanderbilt.
One of Ayers’ Junior Day highlights was meeting Tech coach Paul Johnson.
“I got to talk to all of the coaches, including the head man, the big man, coach Johnson.
“I really like him. He’s down to earth and someone I could sit down and have a conversation with.”

M.L. King junior tailback Mack Brown received an offer from Tennessee.
The 5-foot-11, 185-pound tailback now has offers from nearly every SEC school. Georgia and Georgia Tech have already offered him as well. Alabama and Auburn offered earlier this week.
Despite rumors that he is leaning towards Florida, Brown said there is no clear favorite. “I’m going to make all my visits first,” he said.

Lane Kiffin says Marlon Brown’s grandmother got in Tennessee’s way
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Categories
New Tennessee coach Lane Kiffin has had so much to say since signing day, that it is difficult to keep up with it all.
However, Kiffin’s comments on UGA-bound recruit Marlon Brown are still a popular topic of discussion in Georgia, nearly a week later. The wide receiver from Memphis signed with Georgia over Tennessee and Ohio State.
“The statement that I made [when I was hired] was that we were going to put a fence around the state of Tennessee,” Kiffin told the Knoxville News.
“Basically every kid that we offered that we continued to recruit in-state through this process we signed, except for Marlon.”
Kiffin was asked why he thought Brown signed with Georgia.
“Marlon called [the night before signing day] and said that he loved it here, but his grandmother wouldn’t let him come,” Kiffin told the Knoxville News. “I don’t know what you do about that …”
