Oklahoma invades state to lure South Paulding DB Ryan Ayers
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Categories
Oklahoma has landed some huge recruiting targets over the years in Georgia, and the Sooners are after another one with South Paulding speedster Ryan Ayers.
The 5-foot-10, 175-pound Ayers plays defensive back and is considered one of the state’s top prospects for 2010. He has scholarship offers from Oklahoma, Georgia Tech, Vanderbilt, Arkansas, Duke, North Carolina and Oklahoma State.
“He went to Florida for their Friday Night Lights this summer, and he had the second-fastest time in the 40 [yard dash] out of 300 kids there,” South Paulding coach Tim Glanton said. “He’s run a 4.34.”
Oklahoma edged UGA for wide receiver Cameron Kenney of Dacula this year. Former Sooners from Georgia include All-America offensive tackle Duke Robinson, who played at Atlanta’s Booker T. Washington High.
