Branden Smith, of Washington (Atl.) High, signed with Georgia today to play cornerback. Here’s a little bit more about this new Bulldog in the recruiting Class of 2009. Welcome him to Bulldog Nation with congratulations below in our “Comments” area.
Why he likes UGA: “I like the coaching staff and the campus. It’s a small town and I like that. And they have an excellent football program and academic program. I think I chose a great school. I want to win a national championship and break a few records. On special teams, I want to break the records for kickoff return and punt return yards and touchdowns, and I want to break the interceptions record, too. I want to achieve a lot of big things.”

I think II am more excited about what this kid can do on special teams than anything. I think he is going to be a stud corner! If he is not starting at DB next year, I am sure he was told when he was recruited that he would play right away and i fully expect him to be returnin kicks and punts. Work hard Branden. You will be special!

Congrats to you Branden ! MY son and I will be following you throughout your career at UGA. It has been exciting watching you starting in Middle School. Probably the best DB prospect since Champ but his style is more like the Great Ben Smith in the 80s except he will return punt and kicks. Ball skills are tremendous.
