Meet Zach Mettenberger — Georgia quarterback signee, Class of ‘09

Zach Mettenberger, of Oconee County High, enrolled early at Georgia to play quarterback. Here’s a little bit more about this new Bulldog in the recruiting Class of 2009. Welcome him to Bulldog Nation with congratulations below in our “Comments” area.

Why he likes UGA: “I grew up five minutes from the campus. That was great having a great university right there next to your home. And coach Mike Bobo. If he were at another school, I probably would have gone there. I just love the way he has worked with quarterbacks and how he gets their best potential out of them, like David Greene, who won all those games and set records, and like [Matthew] Stafford, who is about to be the No. 1 pick in the draft. I want to win more than a few SEC titles, at least. And I definitely want to win that big rock, a national championship.”

BREAKING NEWS:

AJC is late on reporting! This kid has been in school since January, he enrolled early I would hope he signed his letter of intent. I am guessing it will be March or April before we find out everyone else that signed!

Good Job AJC keep up the late work. Pathetic.

Oh my God! It’s the end of the world because they put the wrong month at the heading of this article. Get a life idiots! It’s obviously a typo. Welcome to the Bulldawg Nation Zach. Can’t wait to see who wins the starting job between you and Aaron. No matter who, I’m glad you both decided on UGA!

Welcome aboard ZM and company. With the talent the ‘Dawgs have coming in and what is already in place, the future remains bright at UGA between the hedges. 18 LOI’s signed, 2 more to go with O. Charles and K. Geathers.

to RuKidding: The AJC had an article a little while back about how Mettenberger and AM were both early enrolees and how they were adjusting to college life. You might want to do your homework before posting and making an idiot out of yourself.

Big guy, big gun but guys like him may take longer for accuracy to develop because of the amount of power he has to work with. By then Murray could be making headlines. Could transfer to a Big 10 or Big 12 school. I hate it.

I personally haven’t sold out on Murray yet… I seem to believe that this Mettenberger kid will surprise us all

I am looking forward to the ‘sore hands’ reports that will be coming out of Athens. I think that Mett and Murray will make a great 1-2 combo in a couple years as their styles are rather different.
