Abry Jones, of Northside-Warner Robins High, signed with Georgia today to play defensive tackle. Here’s a little bit more about this new Bulldog in the recruiting Class of 2009. Welcome him to Bulldog Nation with congratulations below in our “Comments” area.
Why he likes UGA: “Hey, Bulldog Nation, get ready for a great season between the hedges. I’m ready for the wait to be over. I want to get up there real soon and play some good football. Georgia is a comfortable place to be. The guys I’ll be playing with are cool to hang out with. They really took me in when I went there. Georgia didn’t really catch my eye until I went there. I want to make plays and make my mark in Georgia history. I’m not saying I can start, but I believe I can play right away. I want to be given a role — an opportunity to give the main guys a break and be able to do it in big games. I want to get used to the college football experience.”

Hands down the best freak UGA has had since Charles Grant and probably better in the long run. The upside is frightening. He will play early and often.

Will he play inside or outside? He has so much upside it is scary. Abry, welcome to the Dawg Nation! I can definitely see you contributing early. I think the defense is really going to surprise some people this year.

Abry, you’ve got the right attitude. Also, I like guys who commit early. They earn their attention by making big plays on the football field, not by doing some stupid hat-picking ceremony on Signing Day.
