Stone Mountain’s Nelson eyes playing time at Tennessee

Stone Mountain linebacker Robert Nelson said he prides himself on his speed and ability to get to the ball. He said it’ll be the reason he’ll get on the playing field early in his career at Tennessee.

“They definely said I had a chance to play next year,” said Nelson. “I know I can definitely go in there and fight for playing time. I’m up for the fight.”

Nelson is confident he’ll make an impact once on the field.

“My goal is to make All-American by my sophomore year.”

I saw his video, looks like a redshirt to me. Too many good linebackers up there. Tenn defense finished 10th in the nation last season. He should put on 10 pounds and play DE. They need help there. Tennessee’s linebacker depth is strong. That Thompson kid from Redan is a beast, he will have to play two more years behind him at SAM. They have two on the depth chart at MIKE that will battle this spring, a sophomore and a Junior. Their WILL backers go 4 deep. maybe he should have gone to Tech.
