The Ol’ Ball Coach was never the recruiter that his successors have been at Florida. Now at South Carolina, coach Steve Spurrier is showing some punch.
The Gamecocks are flirting with a top-10 signing class. Both Scout.com and Rivals.com have USC rated at No. 12 to start the day. Spurrier’s team already has 10 four-star recruits inked and ready to begin their careers. That list includes a pair of Georgia products in linebackers Tony Straughter and Josh Dickerson of Georgia Military College.
South Carolina expects 16 more recruits to sign, including four other Peach state players: LB Chaun Gresham of Winder, OL Steven Singleton of Milledgeville, WR DeAngelo Smith of Kingsland and WR DeMario Bennett of Douglas. Two star OL Kevious Watkins of Milledgeville has already signed his letter of intent.
