Miami hopes for a top-10 class

National Signing Day has the potential to be a great one for Miami. Seminole High School (Fla.) teammates Ray Ray Armstrong and Dyron Dye committed and are expected to sign with the Hurricanes. Meanwhile, one of the nation’s top prospects, Wichita East High School (Kan.) running back Bryce Brown, is committed to Miami, although he won’t make a decision until later in the day.
Even if Brown decides to go elsewhere — his list includes USC, Missouri and Clemson — Armstrong and Dye will help justify Miami’s top-10 recruiting class. Armstrong played quarterback at Seminole, but is projected to play safety at the college level, while Dye (6-4, 215 pounds) has excellent speed (11.3 100-meters) and could get a shot to contribute right away at defensive end.
“Ray Ray is, in the 21 years I’ve been coaching, [he’s] probably got one of the biggest hearts. He does not like to lose,” said Seminoles coach Mike Cullison, who coached Tennessee Titans star running back Chris Johnson at Florida’s Olympia High School. “Dye’s got a very fast get-off, he plays good with his hands. He’s a big kid but runs real well.”
