Miller Grove WR Stephen Hill: Coach Johnson won’t waste talent

Miller Grove wide receiver Stephen Hill heard all of the other coaches say that a wide receiver wouldn’t make a name for himself in the run-oriented Georgia Tech offense. But the 6-foot-4, 190 pounder said he wasn’t concerned when he signed with the Jackets on Wednesday.

“Coach Paul Johnson won’t waste talent, and I know that I will be a complete receiver at Georgia Tech,” said Hill, who along with a large Miller Grove contingent was at the ESPNZone in Buckhead. “I loved Georgia Tech from the beginning. I am a Yellow Jacket and can’t wait to get to work.”

Hill had offers from Mississippi State, North Carolina and Miami (Ohio).

Convenient that you also leave off the offer from UGA…go figure.

Welcome to GT Hill. Lining up opposite BeBe next year, you should have plenty of open looks…

Chris, why don’t you list Georgia since they very publicly offered him? Can’t stand it that he turned down the dawgies?

I expect Tech to throw more in the coming years. It may only be 30% of the time, but making defenses pay for stuffing the line, or exploiting poor pass defenses will be necessary to take Tech to the next level. Having a big WR who can make plays downfield as well as block is just what we need.

I agree with Stephon’s assessment. CPG will not wast the talent. Welcome.

However, I find it very funny that an AJC staff writer/blogger neglects to include the UGA offer when listing the losers. Oversight? Definitely humorous.

I LIKE HOW THE UGA QUEERS TRY TO POINT OUT THINGS ABOUT GEORGIA TECH….WHICH HAVE MORE NATIONAL TITLES THEN THE FLEABAGS BY THE WAY. HILL BETTER WORK ON HIS BLOCKING? COACH JOHNSON HAS SAID THAT HE REALLY WANTS TO PASS THE BALL ALOT MORE IN THIS SYSTEM. IMAGINE WHEN THEY THROW MUCH MORE WITH THE AWESOME RUNNING GAME WE HAVE….WOW!!!! IF UGA WAS WORRIED LAST YEAR WITH GEORGIA TECH, WAIT TILL THE YEARS TO COME. WOW!!! GOOD LUCK PUPPYS…HAHAHAHAHA

Poor douchebag losers, forced to talk about titles that happened before even their grandparents were born. Hey, brag more about the shared title with a far better team, that’s my favorite!! LOL!!!!! Hill will rot at Yech along with the rest of team. Johnson is a scumbag and has pushed over 30 STUDENT ATHLETES to the SEC. So wait, is Aycock still a HIGH CHARACTER, WELL ROUNDED, STUDENT AHTLETE since he hung you losers the bird? LOL!! I Love it!!!

Have fun with Cox at QB this year pups. I’m sure he’s going to be sad this year after his boyfriend Stafford left him. While you stew in that, 45-42. All the trash talking and name calling in the world won’t change it. And it couldn’t have happened without Matty throwing the pick-6, Knowshon getting dogged on the pick-6 and your defense tackling like little girls. You guys are thin on the D-line and you kept that useless D-coordinator!!! Going to be fun to watch this year!

By Summary

February 4, 2009 3:57 PM | Link to this

Let me just save everyone some time and summarize what UGA fans will be spouting on here (particulary “Reality Yech” and the other children):

1) UGA leads the all-time head-to-head match-up against Tech by 20 games. We all know this. Why does an improved in-state recruiting class by Tech bother you so much??

2) UGA won 10 games last season during what was considered (by them) to be a down year. Tech won nine games last season in what was considered (by us) to be a great year. We all know this. Why does an improved in-state recruiting class by Tech bother you so much??

3) UGA consistently recruits more 4 and 5 star football players than Tech does. We all know this. Why does an improved in-state recruiting class by Tech bother you so much??

4) UGA’s football stadium is bigger than Tech’s, and UGA sells out all of its games. We all know this. Why does an improved in-state recruiting class by Tech bother you so much??

5) UGA runs a pro-style offensive, and Tech (at least as evidenced by last season) runs a more run-oriented offense. We all know this. Why does an improved in-state recruiting class by Tech bother you so much??

6) UGA has some fans who love to tout the toughness of UGA’s schedule and their membership in the mighty SEC. Tech has some fans who love to tout the toughness of Tech’s academics and their history of more focus on the “student athlete” rather than just the “athlete”. We all know this. Why does an improved in-state recruiting class by Tech bother you so much??

Dear sweet little doggies: If you’re going to consistently post on Tech’s blogs (or in comment sections after articles about Tech’s sports teams) then do us all a favor and enlighten us with some new material.

Now get back to work … We have a management meeting today and your timesheets are due.

Better question,

When’s the last time Tech won a title that was SOLELY theirs? Not a shared title with a better team who played a far more difficult schedule.

Re: TamaBayJacket I thought Colorado won the national title in 1990?

By bb

February 4, 2009 5:19 PM | Link to this

I love reading ignorant dawg fans posting that GT doesn’t ever throw the ball and that GT WRs can only expect to catch a handful of passes a year (I’ve seen posts suggesting Hill will catch 25 passes in his career at GT). It’s obvious they didn’t watch much GT football this year or they would know the potential impact of the passing game in PJ’s offense.

Even in a year when the pass was not emphasized while the new offense was being installed, BeBe caught 36 passes for close to 600 yards. Seems like a talented WR CAN expect to see some balls thrown his way. And with more options downfield (and hopefully better pass protection) it should open up the passing game even more in the future.

By TampaBayJacket

February 4, 2009 5:20 PM | Link to this

It is still a national title, not to mention Colorado as not undefeated and the refs accidently gave them a 5th down at the goal line that won a game.

Oh, and regarding you Tampa reference, there are a hell of lot more gays in Athens than in Tampa.

In 1990, Colorada won the AP title (writers poll) and Ga Tech won the UP title (coach’s poll). Thus the split title references.

Everyone knows Tech played a pi$$ pour schedule in 1990. They tied a pathetic North Carolina team in the second half of the season, while Colorado lost by 1 on the road early in the season to a solid Illinois team. Not to mention Colorado played the most difficult schedule in the country by playing THREE conference champs. Tech didn’t play dick. Nice try douchebags!!!!!

Oh yeah, the same Illinois team that got pasted by Clemson 31-0 in their bowl game. In fact, the ACC cleaned house in the bowls that year. Easy schedule my a*.
