Henry County: WR Jamal Patterson headlines four-signee class

Four players from Henry County signed football scholarships on Wednesday, highlighted by wide receiver Jamal Patterson sticking with his commitment to Stanford.

“He is just a little shorter, but he reminds me a lot of Calvin Johnson” coach Mike Rozier said. “If you saw him in uniform you would think it’s him. Same number and everything.”

The 6-foot-3, 200-pound senior, who had nearly 50 scholarship offers, finished third in his class with a 4.65 GPA.

“He’s a real smart kid with unlimited potential,” Rozier said. “I could see him starting as a freshman.”

AJC Player of the Year and Lowndes defensive back Greg Reid, who signed with FSU last night, said Patterson was the best receiver he ever squared up against.

Rozier said Quan Jones (Jacksonville State), Drew Little (Georgia State), and Keith Wright (North Carolina Tech) also stuck by their commitments.
