Jemea Thomas, of Fitzgerald High, signed with Georgia Tech today to play defensive back. Here’s a little bit more about this new Jacket in the recruiting Class of 2009. Welcome him to The Flats with congratulations below in our “Comments” area.
Why he likes Tech: “For me, Georgia Tech is close to home. And I knew after visiting that I really wanted to go there. The campus is nice and I like the coaches. I want to come in and contribute to the football program. Hopefully, we’ll be in a position to win an ACC championship. And I’d like to start as a freshman.”

This is a dynamite player and GT may not realize how much of a gem they have signed. He is the best defensive football player that I have seen since Takeo Spikes several years back. He has instincts that are uncommon and has the best fundamental tackling ability that I have ever seen.
For some reason, UGA never offered the kid. I believe this was a big mistake because I think he really wanted to go there as he stated during his junior year. He is very humble, polite and smart. He will be a fine representative of GT. Best of luck Jamea, except that weekend around Thanksgiving every year.

Jemea, welcome and congratulations! I have friends in Fitzgerald and I have heard good things about you. You are going to be a great asset to the Jackets in an exciting era! We’re looking forward to seeing you help the Jackets win the ACC and more. Congratulations again!

GREAT ATHLETE!!!! I’m from Fitzgerald and graduated from Tech. Watching this kid play against Buford was watching a one person highlight reel. He’s legit! Congrats!

Jemea is one of my friends and i am proud to say that. He has inspired me to do better on and off the feild. Because of Jemea, the doors of fitzgerald, in the eyes of recruiters, has opened up a little bit more. I wish him the best of luck and I know, that if he wants to, he will be one of the best players GT has seen!
