Northside LB Eric Fields not likely to sign with Clemson, says report

Northside-Warner Robins linebacker Eric Fields is not likely to sign with Clemson on Wednesday because of his academic situation, reported GoUpstate.com.

Fields, an AJC Super 11 selection, had told the website that he couldn’t take an official visit to Clemson because he has yet to take the SAT or ACT. Fields told GoUpstate that will take the ACT for the first time on Feb. 6.

When contacted by the AJC, Northside coach Conrad Nix said that he “could not comment” on a specific student’s academic records.

However, Nix said “We care about our kids as the total person. We’re concerned about their academics, their spiritual life, their well-being … the whole person. And we try our best to provide the necessary things to make them successful in life.”

Regarding the recruiting of Northside players, Nix said “We carry our kids to colleges and camps so they can hear the college coaches talk about … all the things … they need to do to be able to play at the next level.”

Wow! He has not even taken the ACT or SAT? Should his judgment be questioned? Certainly sounds like the coach is saying, “he knows better.”

You know the old saying. You can lead a horse to water, but you cannot make him drink.

Doesn’t surprise me that Clemson and other ACC schools offered him.

Every one new this back when AJC named him to the Super 11. He is not expected to qualify, everyone in his life knows that.

If qualified, he would already be a DAWG. He wanted to play with ABRY JONES!

Sometimes it is hard to read between the lines. Not this time. His “one kiss at the pig” and he has blown it. Too bad.
