Nothing new with colleges and Henry County WR Jamal Patterson

Despite rampant speculation that other schools may get involved at the last minute with Henry County wide receiver Jamal Patterson, his coach is extremely confident that he will sign with Stanford on Wednesday.

“He is going to Stanford, I swear,” said Henry County’s Mike Rozier, who also added that no schools had contacted him about Patterson on Monday.

Patterson, who was one of the nation’s most heavily recruited players with nearly 50 scholarships offers, had agreed to take an official visit to Clemson and was planning to tour Central Florida. However, he ended up canceling both recruiting trips.

Patterson made the surprising decision to pick Stanford in August over Florida, Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia, among others. One of the few schools never to offer was UGA.

Why would UGA offer a kid who does not reach out to their program, sure UGA could reach out.. if the coach or kid called and said..he wants to come to UGA and will sign if offered, whatever happened to a kid wanting to go to UGA, Tech etc, the big time athletes are so sought after, they don’t know what they want. They have to wait till signing day to sign.

The kid didn’t reach out to UGA and UGA did not reach out to him. End of story. He is going to Stanford and for that he is really fortunate young man. Concrats.

A kid that values education as much as football. Go figure. Congrats indeed Jamal.
