One of the area’s top juniors, Douglass defensive end Garrison Smith will attend Junior Day this weekend at Georgia.
“UGA was one of the first schools to offer, plus it was one of the first junior days,” he said.
The 6-foot-4, 255-pound Smith already has received offers from UGA, Vanderbilt, Florida, Georgia Tech, Mississippi State, South Carolina, Auburn, Arkansas, Alabama-Birmingham, Clemson and N.C. State.
“Offers from Alabama and Tennessee are coming soon,” he said.
Smith finished the 2008 season with 108 tackles, 14 sacks and seven forced fumbles. He runs a 4.67 40-yard dash. His brother, Greg Smith, plays wide receiver for Georgia Tech.

6’4 255 4.67 40- yard dash, this is a priority. With all these other schools offering already, we know the kids legit. Lets start by getting him and the kid from Henry County, and this could be a done deal by Christmas.

Is he in basketball or football? Does he have an I.Q?

Speaking of IQ, have you heard Michael Johnson try to speak the English language? Does he ride the short bus to and from games?

This young man is one of the best kept secrets in the Metro area. It was only a matter of time before the offers started. Since middle school football, “Big G” has been one of the most dominant defensive players the City has seen. He is almost impossible to block whether coming of the edge, 1 or 3 technique tackle or mike LB. Congradulations G make us all proud where ever you choose to play. Your relentless play on the field will be rewarded with playing on Sundays. Stay humble and healthy and continue to do well in the class room.

Haha thats the pot calling the kettle black. U got to be? Thats not grannatically correct chief. On this kid, UGA needs him bad. We haven’t had a DOMINANT pass rusher since Quentin Moses or maybe even Pollack. Just pray for Marlon Brown. Seriously.

If this kid can play defensive end, we should arrange for him to skip his senior year of high school.

I have a strong feeling that he will end up at GT. He will see other places and check out other places…but his brother will help us get him. Plus I mean we need some DEs after MJ and elris left.

Will…His relentless play will allow him to play on Saturday not Sunday. Are you not getting a little ahead of yourself. College football is played on Saturday. You are telling a kid to be humble in one sentence and then pushing pro ball to a Jr. in HS. WOW, I’ll bet you are not a parent. And we wonder why these kids get so screwed up at an early age.

His brother probably advised him not to make the same mistake he did and to go to a better program, university and community.
I hear his brother isn’t very pleased with having a rapist on the team and that he’s still allowed to play. Very dark days for Yech ahead.
