Auburn-bound OL Andre Harris toyed with idea of visiting South Carolina

Lovejoy offensive lineman Andre Harris toyed with the idea of taking other official visits, but in the end he says he’s sticking with Auburn, despite the upheaval the Tigers have gone through in the past two months.

“I had four visits left, and I could have taken them,” said Harris, who said after Auburn fired Tommy Tuberville that he would consider other schools. “They’re free, and you get to go some new places. I was going to take a visit to South Carolina, but I didn’t end up doing it.”

The departure of South Carolina quarterback Chris Smelley, who transferred out of Columbia, played a part in the decision not to visit, Harris said, and he’s excited about some of the other players heading to the Plains to visit the Tigers., chief amongst them Bastrop, La., WR Reuben Randle, rated the top receiver in the country by Scout.com, whom Harris said is visiting Auburn this weekend.

“I talked to coach Chizik (new Auburn coach Gene) today, and he said he was looking forward to me being there. I figure we’re hitting the high road, and I’m just hoping we can get a top 10 class together.”
