UGA makes late charge for Georgia Tech recruit Stephen Hill

Everybody has been waiting all year for UGA and Georgia Tech to go head-to-head in an intense recruiting battle for one of the state’s top football prospects.

It finally happened, about a week away from signing day. UGA offered Miller Grove wide receiver Stephen Hill, who is committed to Georgia Tech. The Bulldogs are dispatching coaches to Miller Grove on Monday morning in hopes of convincing Hill to visit Athens on Friday.

“Stephen called me first thing on Sunday to tell me that Georgia coach Mark Richt offered on Saturday night,” Miller Grove coach Jasper Jewell told the AJC. “Stephen was shocked to hear Coach Richt’s voice. He told me he was honored to be offered by Georgia and that he was going to listen to what they had to say. But he said his heart is still with Georgia Tech.”

Earlier on Sunday, wide receiver Cameron Kenney of Dacula committed to Oklahoma over Georgia.

Jewell said he talked with UGA recruiting coordinator Rodney Garner and assistant Tony Ball on Sunday. “Of course, my first question was ‘Why so late with the offer?’

“[Ball] said he just got the job as wide receivers coach. He said he looked at film of all the wide receiver prospects, he was asked who he liked. And [Ball] said ‘Stephen Hill is the guy I want.’”

Jewell said at least two Georgia coaches will be at his school on Monday morning to speak with Hill.

Will Hill switch from Georgia Tech to UGA? “I have no idea. I just try to get my kids some college options and then stay out of the way,” Jewell said. “All I can say is that … as of Sunday night … Stephen Hill is committed to Georgia Tech.”

UGA flirted with Hill earlier this year, and Hill was highly interested, but the Bulldogs never offered a scholarship. Hill was an early commitment to Central Florida last summer, but then switched to Georgia Tech on Nov. 3 after also considering offers from Boston College and Mississippi State.

The 6-foot-4, 185-pound Hill has developed a close friendship with Oconee County quarterback Zach Mettenberger, who has committed to UGA. In an all-star game at Myrtle Beach, S.C., last month, Mettenberger hit Hill in stride for a 68-yard touchdown pass.

Hill is arguably the state’s top overall athlete. In track, he was the 2008 Class AAAA champion in the long jump, while also setting a DeKalb County record by jumping 23-feet, 11 inches. He is also a prospect in basketball, but has decided to play football in college.

“He has tremendous upside,” Jewell said earlier this year. “Once he gets to college, he will put on 15 to 20 pounds. I think he will be the next Calvin Johnson. With the desire he has for the game, he can play on Sundays.”

I’m calling BS on Tony Ball! They offer this guy after Cameron Kenney turned them down, and then Ball says that Miller was the guy that he wanted…

I hope the Bulldogs get Miller, but that’s a boldfaced lie by Tony Ball in my opinion.

Why would you ever want to play wide receiver in Ga. Tech’s current offense? Tech will continue to bring in run first QB’s who can’t throw to big play receivers like Hill….come on down Mr. Hill, the gateway to the NFL is through Athens.

I really doubt Hill is dumb enough to believe this “he’s the guy I wanted” stuff. He knows they just lost the JC kid, failed to get Orson Charles to commit, and still haven’t heard from Marlon Brown. Hill knows that he is only getting an offer from them because they are scared that they will miss out on all three of their big targets and come away empty. Plus the WR already committed is still looking around. If Hill isn’t smart enough to see that, he’s blind. As for being close friends with Mettenberger, he’s even closer to Tech’s QB commit Jordan Luallen who also spent time with him at the same all star game. But anyway, I bet he commits to UGA tomorrow because how can anyone pass up the opportunity to play at Georgia and catch passes from either Cox or the punt returner? Hahaha

Skeptical Dawg, It’s not necessarily a complete lie. Maybe this happened: Kenney turned down the Dawgs, so Coach Richt said, “Tony Ball, you’re the new receivers coach; you can select what receiver we offer next.” Tony looked at film of all the receivers on UGA’s radar and chose Stephen Hill.

Let’s look at it in three years. That way when Johnson has had four years at Tech we can compare the number of receivers who have gone to the NFL from both UGA and Tech. The UGA number will be much higher than Tech’s. That is a guarantee. Being a receiver at Tech is pretty much a guarantee that you’re comfortable with being a skinny offensive lineman. Because that’s all you’re going to do - block for your QB or one of your backs.

You know. Im a Georiga boy through and through. I was born and raised here. I love every single college, semi-pro and pro team here. I dont care, I just want this state to win. With that being said, what in the world does Georgia Tech have to brag about? I mean come on guys. It’s utterly ridiculous to keep talking about one victory. ONE VICTORY!! im so sick of you bragging about a three point win. You got your butts spanked for years and no one from the Red and Black said a word. They just went out and did it again and again and well, you know! They didnt get a ring or anything to “remember” one victory. It was classless. Im a huge Paul Johnson fan from his days at Ga Southern but what was he thinking? I hate when GA and Tech play because I want both of you to go and woop everybody elses butt. All of a sudden though, you get a chance to end a losing streak against a University that is superior to yours in football and yet, you choose to gloat. No one likes a person who brags. Especially when you really have nothing to brag about. Please, give it a rest. I understand if you pull off 5 years of wins against the Dogs, but to have one victory and to keep talking about it is stupid. Just enjoy it and hope you can keep up. I think you should do more worrying about the teams in your own league. Win the ACC for once. Beat Miami, BC, Florida State, Wake Forest and the rest first. Shoot, win a damn bowl game at least! Just stop it please! Your only making fools of yourself. No one cares. Trust me! When I go out around the A, no one talks about your victory. No one “remembers” but you. Im sure your grand kids will be proud of that ring against GA one day. But then again, GA will be showing off conference and championship rings to their grand kids. Get your mind right!

It’s a simple decision really….Either go to Tech and play in front of 40k, become a “blocking” WR and beat Georgia once every eight years or come to Athens, play before 93k , catch “TD” passes and win 10 games annually. Hmmmmmm?

TO Mr. 45-42, give me a break. If you are not willing to admit that any WR in his right mind would be better off playing in a pro-style offense over an option offense, then you are simply in denial. Keep it real. If you are a GT fan you simply can’t make fun of any UGA QB. I’d bet anything that Cox has better passing numbers than any GT QB next season. Be serious. You call UGA’s QB a punt returner, but your “QB” is a running back.

DurtyDogg, with all due respect, there has never been a UGA fan that doesn’t brag about anything. They brag when they tie their shoes properly in the morning. I agree that it is just one win; I want to do it more often and it seems that is on the horizon. UGA fans talk about the UF “rivalry” as if it is one, they brag about their rare wins over UF when it is more common for UGA to lose to Tech than win against UF. Yes, we did win by 3 points, but it was over the preseason National Champs on their home field down by 16 at the half. I know, I know, the defense stunk, the refs cheated, and you didn’t care after you lost to UF.

Bottom line: Keith Brooking said it best-UGA is the most overhyped, overrated football program in the history of college football. Hope you got those laces right this morning!

GT got lucky, this year, but yellowmaggots, didn’t Massaquoei have over 190 yards receiving on y’all? In fact isn’t that more than y’all passed for in over half your games? This kid, if he wants a chance to play at the next level will come to UGA,and have NFL type QB’s throwing to him. What will he do at Tech? He will become a decoy, and blocker.Kid it’s really quite simple, come to UGA and win consistently, or go to Tech, and hope to beat UGA every seven to eight years, expect to go to a top bowl, or tell the family to save money to go to Idaho, at least two years out of your four.Kid the biggest difference between Uga, and Tech,we expect to beat them, they are just estatic when they win every half a decade or more.Come to Ga kid, you can ride with the best, or get run over by the best!

By who cares

January 26, 2009 6:42 AM | Link to this

THis kid isn’t stupid like the coaches at UGA. He knows that the only reason they are coming to him now is because they can’t get any other wide receivers to commit. UGA and their pathetic coaching staff is getting beat off the field just like they get beat on the field. When they have to go up against a top program with top recruiters they get their a** kicked. Stoops at Ok. just handed Billy Graham his lunch with the Kenney kid, and this kid grew up in GA. and wanted his family to be able to see him play. Ok. came in two weeks ago and stole the kid from the wonderful clowns that UGA has as coaches. Then Charles the T.E. says he didn’t have a good time while visiting UGA. What a shock. Told everyone before this kid was going to Fl. or Fl.State. Reverend Graham has no chance recruiting against Meyer and Bowden. Forgot about Marlon Brown in Tenn. Billy Graham is going to get his lunch handed to him one last time before signing day, by a head coach that has never won a game in the SEC. But he will keep the top talent in his state as he said, not like Richt and his overpaid lazy a* staff. Kiffen even said that the UGA coaches are lazy when it comes to recruiting kids in Ga. That brings us back to Stephen Hill. UGA coaches thought they had one of the other recruits at wide receiver, but now that they don’t they come running to this kid. If i were this kid I would laugh at these clowns. Just like Bowman the kid from Henry county, who grew up loving UGA, yet these arrogant coaches at UGA never offered the kid, and Al. offers the kid and steals him away from UGA. UGA and it’s overpaid, overrated, coaching staff has proven once again that it can’t close the deal when it comes to games on the field and recruiting off the field. They are arrogant, lazy, and lack the talent to coach up kids or to recruit kids. When they have to out recruit the top coaches at crunch time, they are clueless. Meyer, Saban, Stoops, Bowden, and now Kiffen all will eat their lunch at crunch time. Don’t believe me, wait until after Feb.4th, and tell me who UGA closes with in this class. Tell UGA to get lost Mr.Hill. One last recruit that UGA fans can forget is the Reid kid from Lowndes. He is also going to Fl.State. His high school buddy has committed to the Noles, and he will too. Couple all of these misses by UGA and add Wooten the other wide receiver who will end up at Fl, or LSU, and once again Billy Boy will not get a big time receiver to come to UGA. What a surprise.

Well, if gentlemen , I believe you are selling Stephen short. He’s a bright young man and can see for himself what happened at UGA and realize why he’s just now getting the scholarship offer. Whether or not he chooses to accept it knowing he is UGA’s fourth or fifth option is totally up to him and none of you, and all of you childish bantering won’t change a thing in the world.

Believe it or not, Paul Johnson will pass the ball this year, a lot more than many of you may be expecting, and having Stephen lining up opposite Thomas will cause a lot of match-up problems and provide him with many big play opportunities this coming year. He will be the primary receiver very soon after at GA Tech but will be a secondary receiver at UGA.

Stephen isn’t unintelligent…give the young man some credit to make up his own mind and work out the details on his own. Regardless of where he ends up, Stephen is terrific and will be a pleasure to watch and a great addition to either program.

Personally, I wish him the best of luck and hope he doesn’t bother reading these blogs so he doesn’t have to see how immature most of the fans are at either University.

Stephen, make the right choice for you. Either school is wonderful. At UGA, you will be a part of a top football university. You will play on TV practically every game and in front of 80-90 thousand each week.

At Tech you will also be a part of a good football program. You will play in front of 42-45 thousand fans each week. You will play on Thursdays (with Boise State and the Oregon State’s of college football). Heck, maybe once or twice a year you will be on TV.

And don’t forget that offense at Tech. You will have 8-9 passes thrown at you in your career. Maybe one or two will be over 10 yards in lenght!

So Keith Brookings(a.k.a “Tool”) thinks UGA is overrated huh. This coming from a guy that is bitter that UGA did not go after him out of High School. Yes, he wanted to go to UGA instead of Tech look it up yourself AND he NEVER beat UGA. Sounds like sour grapes to me.

I’ll take being overated and winning 10 games+ a year and going to a BSC Bowl game. Of course the Nerd Herd have no idea what it’s like to go to a BCS Bowl game because you have not been to one. Ask UGA people how much fun it is.

Oh, by the way, you have to win your WEAK conference before you can go. That’s right, you have yet to do so since the BCS has been around. Get a clue NERDS! You run your mouths about things that you have no idea what your talking about.

So shut up ..come out of the basement and change your dirty underwear. Stick to a subject you know something about. Because OBVIOUSLY recruiting is not one of your stronger suits.

It may come doewn to does he want to play early or not. At UGA will probably have to sit a year or 2, I bet he’d start for Tech next yr as a true Freshman. UGA already has A.J for 2 more yrs (like most guys do I expect him to leave after 3), & then they have several others to replace Massoquai on the depth chart that would be ahead of Hill as an incoming Freshman.

Tech’s BayBay Thomas (#8) is a decent WR, but other than that they don’t have anybody at the WR position (their other pass catchers are the RBs (A & B backs), leaving that open for Hill to have a good chance to start as a True Fresh.

CPJ has said he would like to throw more, & he tried vs. LSU but Josh’s mechanics are terrible (flicking off his back foot), which leads to poor accuracy & like Mike he doesn’t have any touch.

It’ll come down to how soon Hill wants to play. And like everyone else put it, Ball is just using saying he’s the #1 guy i want b/c he didn’t get the JuCo guy. Hopefully Hill will realize that Ball is just B.S.ing.

By UGA vs GT

January 26, 2009 8:29 AM | Link to this

This will make it even easier for Hill. UGA has 4 Elite 11 QBs on this year’s roster (Cox, Gray, Murray and Mettenberger). GT doesn’t even know what an Elite 11 QB is, much less how to recruit one. If you want to catch passes from great QBs head to UGA.

Of course UGA is coming after him after losing Kenney. Plus they now have a couple more spots open in this class with the guys going to the NFL. They want 2 WR’s and the only one on their list is flirting with Fl or LSU.

Stephen Hill if very talented and if you have a shot at him, might as well go for it. If I was Hill, I would go play in a pro style offense instead of the triple option run at GT. Joe Cox will be fine at QB and that line is going to be much stronger so the offense hopefully will be more consistent. But it’s his decision and he has to make the one that he feels is best for him. Either way, congratulations to the kid for even having the opportunity to compete at the college level. He can’t go wrong with either school.

Winning by 3 points once every 8 years is luck. Losing 38 - 3 on national TV to a mediocre LSU team is a disgrace. If Hill enjoys blocking he will love it at Tech. If he likes to touch the ball numerous times each game then he will love UGA.. All depends on what he enjoys the most. As for not being UGA’s first choice at WR, he can think about that every time he throws a block at Tech. Or, he can think how great it is to be at UGA every time he catches a TD pass as a Dawg. With AJ on the other side and a monster line protecting the passer, Hill would get tremendous opportunity and national recognition at UGA. At Tech he could throw a few blocks in the Chicken Bowl if Tech had a great season.

Even in a “down” year, where UGA loses to Tech for the first time in years, UGA is still ranked above Tech at the end of the year. Georgia goes to a Florida bowl game and wins, and Tech gets spanked and embarrassed by LSU in their backyard. At least Tech didn’t have to play in Boise again, that is pretty good for them.

I see a lot of misinformation and resentment here from Jacket fans. UGA owns Tech over the years just like UF owns UGA over the past 20 years. Orsen Charles did not tell UGA he is not coming. He will anounce after he visits USC. Get your facts straight. UGA will need wr’s and maybe they are grasping for straws but I think Richt’s track record as a decent recruiter speaks for itself. As for Tech, what happens if you do win your conference? Most likely Paul Johnson will flee for a big time school if he gets the chance. After watching Paul at Southern, anyone who knows Paul knows him knows he is all bout himself. He is selfless and cares for no one. He looks out for number 1. Besides, Tech can never keep a coach who has any success. O Leary left and you could not even keep Bill Curry and he is one of your most respected alumni. You can not sell your stadium out which is roughly the size of a division II school. Your team has the biggest win in ten years and you go out and get beat by a team that is mediocre and embarassed on national TV in a bowl game. Your coaches were not prepared and you ran into a defensive coach who figured out how to play against the tripple option aka Hambone offense. UGA could not defend because they are undiscplined and have a def coordinator who does not have a clue. What does it say when a school beats its chief rival once in 8 years and gives the players rings for it? Jacket fans you got a long way to go to call yourselves a football power. I don’t think Saban gave his kids a ring this year when they beat Auburn or Richt gave his kids a ring when they beat UF last year. Urban Meyer is outcoaching and outrecruiting anyone in the nation. Only coach who even comes close is Pete Carrol at USC. UGA over the last decade is a consensus top ten team. Tech every now and then places in the top 25. Only consistant teams in the southeast are LSU and the Gators. If Saban stays at Bama add them to the list. The ACC is a weak conference who shows no consistancy. If the Big East teams had not been added there would not have been a decent team to even play in a bowl game. I am a proud graduate of Alabama and really do not care for UGA or Tech but after reading all the crap on these blogs for months from Tech fans I feel obligated to give my opinions. I have friends from both schools and have lived in Georgia most of my life but everyone knows that the majority of Tech fans are so jealous of any school that has any resemblance of any success. That is because they never have had it before. Sure they won a NC under Bobby Ross but look what happened in a few years. They do not know what the word consistant means. Tech fans get off your butts and quit your whining. Support your team and go to the games. Quit being tight fisted and open up your wallets and donate to your athtletic department. You all brag about how much money you make? Go spend some of it on your alma mater. You did give PJ a raise but you got to feel your stadium and be positive or you will never ever have a program with any continual success. You think Coach Johnson likes seeing empty seats and adds in the AJC offering hotdogs and cokes with tickets? You have not had a consistant year in and year out good teams since the Coach Dodd left. I will UGA fans their due. They are not happy with a 10-3 season and voice their complaints. I did see some gloating last year after beating the Gators but nothing like this year from Tech fans.

Thanks for your time Burt Alabama class of 76

If he wants to catch some passes then go to UGA. Kid says his heart is with tech so that’s probably where he’ll end up. UGA has kids that can catch without signing Hill or Kenny.

Hate to break it to you 45-42, but the “punt returner” at UGA would be a better QB in our offense than Josh Nesbitt. More athletic, a hell of a lot faster, and can actually pass the football. Seems like the guy was rated top 5 coming out of high school as a paasser and will probably be used a lot like Charlie Ward was at FSU. Realistically, Stephen Hill kills his college career and chances at the NFL if he goes to Tech. The cupboard is about to be really bare because of Paul Johnson’s inability to adapt. Or is he just too plain old stubbornly arrogant to see the hand writing on the wall? This level isn’t Navy or GSU. This triple option offense will at the end of the day be a detriment to the overall health of GT football.

Knowshon Hauls; Thanks for reading my post. GA Tech had one receiver go over 200 yards in receptions in one game this year and averaged over 15 yards per catch for the year.

Tech had a number of passes over 30 yards and that was with Josh playing hurt most of the year and with GA Tech not even implementing the run-and-shoot portion of their offense.

Now, Knowshon Hauls, I want you to try to imagine how many times Stephen will be open for big plays as a receiver at GA Tech now that the team has a year of learning the Triple Option under its belt, it’s begun to add in the run-and-shoot, and Josh Nesbitt will be healthy?

That sort of changes the dynamics a bit, and will actually give Stephen a chance for more touches at GA Tech that UGA because of the number of receivers that Georgia already has on the roster and the type of offense that UGA runs as well.

Wow, I didn’t realize UGA fans were still so broken up about that 45-42 loss at Sanford stadium. I mean, I know it was heart-breaking to see the Yellow Jackets come back from a 14 point deficit at the half , but come on. It’s a rivalry. UGA is a good program, not a great program like some UGA fans would like to think…..

With Richt as head coach he hasn’t been able to deliver the main prize with as much talent pool he has had over the past 7 years…..

LSU 2 national championships, 3 SEC Conference Championships while Richt was head coach Florida 2 national championships, 2 SEC Conference Championships while Richt was head coach

UGA 2 SEC Conference Championships

UGA should be better than LSU or UF because of the talent pool he has at UGA…. and this past year with all the talent he had, Athens should have celebrated winning the BCS crown….. for the all the talk and smack UGA fans talk, UGA really is an over-hyped over-rated program…..

Hill will be wide open as a GT reciever and get well over 100 yards per game. True he will not get many passes, but if the kid can catch, he will get the yards.

The NFL wants recievers who can block, and more importantly those who are willing and able to block. A good reciever will open the backfield up for your running game. If Hill is that good, the NFL will find him at GT, UGA, or even at Samford.

UGA recruits NFL bound receivers, they do not coach them up to the NFL….and neither does Tech. Schools counting the number of NFL players simply have better recruiting numbers. Again, Hill will be in the NFL if he works hard and wants it.

He is definitely an afterthought for UGA though.

Tech will be producing receivers like UGA golden boy Hines Ward and Calvin Johnson. While UGA will be producing receivers like Terrance Edwards and Reggie Brown. The bottom line is that Tech receivers will have excellent route running skills and be able to block. Those are what is important at the next level.

Reid, Hill and every other kid don’t win championships, Defense, and Defense only, wins championships, UGA giving up 45 to Tech is embarrasing, but Tech giving up 42, and a few weeks later, after you have had time to fix your problem giving up 38, down right pathetic. So Tech fans, don’t worry about a receiver, because after that end of the year display, I would be looking for some defensive players.UGA don’t critize, we have our own problems,145 points given up in three losses is nothing to brag about. The fact that Cameron Kenney committed to Oklahoma likely led to one of the scenarios I read earlier in this thread. Ball just became the WR coach in the last couple of weeks after being the RB coach for a couple of seasons, so when Cameron chose the Sooners, it makes sense that Hill was next on their list and that Ball had the call on that.

Let the Techsters show their true ignorance and perhaps Stephen will read some of this stuff and it will give him pause before he signs with such a petty, insecure and jealous school like GT.

256-160, fleas!! GT is nothing but a flea on our rear-ends that is a “flea dip” in reality away from knowing where their place is in this “rivalry”.

All this crap about “the rings for beating UGA” is driving me crazy. Wow, you dogs sure do think everything is about you. The rings were issued because the CFA bowl gave extra money to be used at the schools descrection. The seniors on Tech’s team decided to include TO INCLUDE the score of the uga game. The rings were not to celebrate the UGA victory. They were to remember a season. A season of which a brand new off cord, def cord, head coach stepped in predicted to win 3-4 games and won 9. A season that included beating FSU for the first time in god knows how long. Extending our streak against MIA. Sharing the ACC Coastal title. And of course feeding a sh!t burger to the mutts in Athens. Coming back from 16 down to end a 7 year skid. Protecting the real streak of 8 in a row that GT owns. Hell, at UGA you can retire a mans jersey for having a hand in ending a 8 year skid to Tech and you can dance in the endzone like a bunch of kids at a skating rink for scoring a TD against UF, but OMG don’t dare put the score of a very important game on a ring. Because then it becomes the UGA ring. Talk about pitiful, I was at a friends home the other day and he had a preseason magazine framed and hanging on his wall. No crap, he actually had a preseason mag with UGA no 1 hanging on his wall. The kicker is that it was right next to a framed photo of Moreno hurdling the cent. Mich defender. Are you kidding me! He fell down on his face a yard and a half later! Anyhow, drop the “ring” talk until you look around at yourself and/or at least get the facts straight.

DurtyDogg, quite the little diatribe! How nice it MUST be to be SO noncommital! “i pull for EITHER team”, blah blah blah! WHAT everybody SEEMS to be missing about ‘the rings’, is that is was not JUST about a SINGLE victory…IT WAS ABOUT PRESERVING TECH’S streak against the dawgs! I assure you, that tech fans are NOT the ONLY people talking about that ONE victory! Pup fans haven’t forgotten…they just don’t have a valid thing to say to Tech this year….THEY LOST! As for telling grandkids about conference rings and national championship rings…ARE YOU SERIOUS?! Tech has MORE national championship rings and, while conference championships shouldn’t be taken for granted… ever hear the line about second place? You need to grow a pair and pick a side….till then, stay on the porch…you p** like a puppy! GO TECH!!!

Everytime I peek into this blog I have to laugh. The comparison between GT and UGA is like comparing pigs to roses. UGA’s program is light years better than Tech’s. Tech is a second tier mediocrity that has good years as an exception and never the rule.

Give me a fricking break, GT hasn’t been in the SEC (best in college football) for 40 years and has almost (i said almost) as many SEC championships as uga (i use lower case for uga for a reason). RAMBLE ON

Don’t worry about me. 256-160, 7-1 all of this is solace enough for me to get along just fine. The fact that your team could only muster a 3 point win in 8 tries is what should embarrass you.

All the talk about your vaunted “NFL caliber” defense and they let a “pitiful, sucky” UGA team put 488 yards on them. Your 400+ rushing yards was a bit embarrassing, yes. Anytime a team rushes 56 times they are bound to hit a couple of “homeruns”, which is what your team did.

This thread is about a young man trying to decide if he wants to block at GT or catch passes at UGA. Let’s agree that he should do what’s in his best interest and save your embarrassment for the 38-3 beatdown you undoubtedly saw in person against a 7-5 SEC team. Another form of comfort for me is that there were probably more GT folks in the Dome than you have at your home games and they witnessed the TOTAL EXPOSURE of your offense. Oh, how that had to sting (pun intended).

You nerds are pathetic, but I’m used to it, by now.

GT has 5 SEC championships 1939, 1943, 1944, 1951, and 1952

OT really got stung . Your # 10 ranking came in o9 by the popular poll but 08 ended with the BCS ranking that will not change until next season when Tech will still be ahead. Your 10 big wins included no name opponents that were carefully scheduled but you still had to play Bama, FLA and Tech which you lost with heavy scoring by each one. Desperation and decline are the words for the UGA over rated program. Sting um Tech!!!!

45-42, that was this years score. 8-0 That was from 1946-1954. 176-39 thats the combined score of GT (176) and uga (39) over that time period. 45-42 is still my favorite because it was against the preseason National Champs (lol) and b/c it was the most recent. Thats all that matters chump.

If YOU research a little, you’ll see Tech had 3 National Championships (1917-1928-1990) and uga 1 (1980). If my math is correct, that’s 3 to 1 Tech! Lick, sniff, drool and lick some more, puppies!!! I think I have figured it out. The AJC use to patrol these blogs, and delete posts if you wrote offensive comments. But, after they had to fire 1/2 of their people, they decided to simply put:

Note: Any inappropriate comments will not be tolerated, along with offensive “screen names.” Your posts are identified by the AJC with logging your IP address, not your screen name or email address. We encourage your comments and opinions, and only request that you use good judgment.

At the bottom, in hopes that it would scare people from writing profane comments b/c of their IP Address (ooooohhhh, the AJC is gonna HUNT YOU DOWN). But now everyone has caught on, and just writes whatever they feel like, b/c in reality no one patrols these blogs in the slightest.

You are tricky AJC, but not tricky enough for these morons.

So wait, all we have is a WIN. And you have a ranking. Which is better? Im still laughing about 2 things: 1. Listen, all the UGA fans keep saying that Georgia’s offense is better suited for a WR. But how is that Pro Style working for Muhammad Massaquoi? He will be a day two pick at best if not a free agent. If Hill goes to Tech he will be the featured guy for Coach Johnson’s run and shoot offense, and get better numbers then if he went to UGA. Besides UGA has NEVER had a big time WR in the NFL. But Tech had, what was his name… CALVIN JOHNSON!!!!

Stephen Hill stick to your word and stay at Georgia Tech. UGA did not want you until they lost a recruit to Oklahoma. Tech has a good program and willl be running more run n shoot next year. Better academics at TEch and a #1 (AJC) ranking nationally amoung athletes academically. Oh and we have no history of academic scandals like the Jan Kemp era and the basketball program’s cheating of the previous coaching staff. And we don’t have 52 bars within 1/4 mile of campus nor did we have 12 football players arested in 2008 like they did at UGag. But other than that you can look forward to a great career after you graduate from Tech.

K-Town Dawg, Tech didn’t **out of the sec…they were doing JUST fine in the sec. Under Bobby Dodd, Tech compiled a 165-64-8 record. They left for two reasons, one- they had grown to the point that they felt that an independent status might suit them better and, two- the sec was wanting to limit scholarships and bobby dodd felt that wasn’t being fair to the athletes that would get hurt or hurt. I know that was a long time ago, but EVEN this year, Tech was 2-1 against the sec. As much as you pups seem to love history…sure don’t seem to know much about it.
