Heritage TE Justin Jones ponders East Carolina offer

Heritage tight end Justin Jones returned from an official visit to East Carolina but did not commit.

“I really like Coach [Skip] Holtz,” said Jones. “He just wanted to help me make the best decision for me, whether it was with ECU or not.”

The 6-foot-8, 252-pound senior has an official visit scheduled for Vanderbilt next weekend. He said Vanderbilt head coach Bobby Johnson and assistant coach Des Kitchings are making an in-home visit on Jan. 28.

Jones said Vanderbilt will most likely put him at defensive end even though he mostly played tight end in high school.

Jones said his latest offer came from Georgia State. “I don’t know much about them so I’m not sure about Georgia State,” he said.

Jones was an early commitment to Kentucky, but backed off to consider other schools.

In other recruiting news, Georgia Tech picked up commitment No. 21.

Tight end Orson Charles of Tampa, Fla., rated his official visit to Georgia as a “10”, tying Florida and Florida State.

Lowndes All-America defensive back Greg Reid set the record straight about his official visit to Georgia this weekend.

Miller Grove wide receiver Stephen Hill, who is committed to Georgia Tech, was offered by rival UGA on Saturday night.

Dacula wide receiver Cameron Kenney of Dacula committed to Oklahoma over Georgia.
