Perry WR Trey Smith headed to Western Michigan

Ball State is out and Western Michigan is in for Perry receiver Trey Smith.
The 6-foot-5, 206-pounder committed to Western Michigan after he decided too many coaching changes were being made at Ball State. Three Ball State assistants left the program earlier this month to join former head coach Brady Hoke at San Diego State.
“I really didn’t feel I would fit in well with the coaching staff,” said Smith, who had narrowed his list to those two schools
Western Michigan assistant Peter McCarty, who has been recruiting Smith, called to check up on the recruit.
“He said ‘Whenever you’re ready to commit, let me know,’” Smith recalled. “I said, ‘I’m ready now.’”
Smith had planned to make an official visit to Ball State this weekend.
