Marcus Ball recruited out of junior college by SEC, ACC schools
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Categories
Former AJC Super 11 player Marcus Ball of Stephenson appears headed back to Div. I. After two years at Florida State, Ball transferred to Pearl River Community College (Miss.) this past fall and was named first-team All-American as a safety.
Ole Miss, Southern Miss, Clemson and Florida seem to be the leaders. He is scheduled to finish his academic requirements in May. Ball is the younger brother of former Georgia Tech quarterback Reggie Ball.
“If there was a better player in our league, I don’t know who he was,” Pearl River coach Tim Hatten told the Clarion-Ledger of Jackson, Miss. “He’s like an NFL player. He’s got a linebacker’s body at safety and an aggressive nose for the football. He’s the best defensive back we’ve had here. By far.”

UGA WR target can be emergency kicker or punter

Cameron Kenney, who is one of the nation’s top junior college prospects at wide receiver, was known for more for soccer than football at Dacula.
Kenney has narrowed down to UGA and Oklahoma, and making an official visit to Athens this weekend. At Dacula, Kenney played three years of varsity soccer, and also handled all the kicking duties when joining the Falcons in football as a senior.
“He told me ‘please don’t tell anyone I’m a kicker, just say I’m a wide receiver who also kicks and punts,’” said his mother Patti Roth, with a laugh.
Kenney booted 45 of 55 kickoffs out of the end zone at Dacula in the 2006 season. At Garden City, he had an 82-yard punt as a freshman, while kicking a 52-yard field goal last season.
Former Auburn coach Tommy Tuberville had told Kenney he would love to use him for trick plays on specials teams.

TE Arthur Lynch says he’s loyal to Georgia
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

Arthur Lynch, who committed to UGA, said the rumors about him considering switching to Boston College and other schools are untrue.
The tight end from Dartmouth, Mass., picked the Bulldogs over Boston College, Maryland and Virginia last summer.
Lynch said it’s true that other schools such as Tennessee, Penn State, Maryland, Virginia and Syracuse have stayed in contact. However, Lynch said he is sticking with UGA, and let it be known to the competing colleges.
“For example, Penn State stopped by the school last week and my [high school] coach didn’t even come find me in class,” Lynch said. “He just told the scout ‘Thanks, but Arthur is signing with Georgia.’ And that was that.”

Buford’s Dallas Lee enjoying early start at UGA
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Categories
Things keep getting better for defensive tackle Dallas Lee.
After helping Buford to its second consecutive 15-0 season and Class AA championship, the Georgia recruit capped his high school superstardom with a fumble recovery in last month’s 70th annual Georgia Athletic Coaches Association North-South Football Classic at Memorial Stadium.
Now, he’s enjoying his early academic start in Athens early this month.
He said beginning on scholarship at Georgia is a dream come true, though he’s gone from a huge 6-foot-4, 295-pound fish in Buford’s pool to feeling like a guppy in Georgia’s.
“I wanted to go (to college) close to home for my family and friends, and for them to come and see me play,” he said of choosing Georgia. “I grew up a Georgia fan, but wasn’t sure where I’d go at first. Now that I’m at Georgia, it’s pretty cool.
“It’s everybody’s goal coming to a college like UGA: to play, win and be ranked No. 1.”
