Jarvis Jones sets date for in-home visit with UGA coach Mark Richt

UGA Coach Mark Richt will make an in-house visit on next Wednesday (Jan. 28) to Carver-Columbus’ Jarvis Jones, the state’s top uncommitted prospect.

“I’m sure he wants to see where I stand with Georgia,” the 6-foot-4, 226-pound All-American linebacker said.

UGA assistants John Lilly and John Jancek traveled to Carver on Thursday to see Jones. They are trying to convince him to stay in-state and play for the Bulldogs.

Jones took an official visit to Athens in December. He has also made trips to Southern Cal and Florida. He is off to Texas this week and LSU on Jan. 30.

“I’m trying to remain humble about the whole recruiting situation,” he said. “I like to stay out of the media, and keep it all under control because I know it’s a big decision.”

Jones said he feels “blessed” to have these “big-name” schools offering him football scholarships. “Most people don’t have that chance,” he said. “This is a once in a lifetime opportunity, but it’s going to be a tough decision.”

Jarvis,

If your heart truly leads you elsewhere, then try to be happy. If you want a lifelong association in state, with thousands of supporters, a terrific education, and coaches who truly care about you as a person as well as an athlete, then UGA beckons! Just know that the Bulldog Nation would like to have you if you feel you can truly become a devoted dawg and feel it in your heart. Rest assured, you will feel the appreciation from the fans.

Good luck with your decision!

Carter,

You’re an idiot. 1 win in 8 years and Tech owns us. I would assume you go t Devry and not get with logic like that.

JJ - go where your heart is. We’d love you in The Classic City.

Carter:Guess your engineering majors(what a joke!)are too busy winning championships to build: roads that don’t develop potholes, tires that don’t evolve into ones with more tread life, interstates that are always marked correctly and automobiles that always start. I won’t even mention the aircraft industry !!!

Jarvis, when you talk about blessing … I think it would be a tremendous blessing to play for a Christian like Mark Richt. Coach Richt will impart things into your life that others can’t. Georgia would be a great fit. We’ll be praying that you have wisdom to make the right choice. We hope it will be red and black. I’d love to see you on the field when they tee up the ball on Saturday afternoons in Sanford Stadium. Blessings and peace to you on your life journey.

CARTER, you must have flown to Amsterdam, and got some weed, GT don’t own nobody! This is the same team that played on the blue field in Idaho.Idaho! GT fans the only thing you own is the right to get beat down nexy year.J.Jones, you may be real good, but remember Marcus Washington,Darius Dewberry,Rennie Curran,Akeem Dent, and Akeem Hebron. These just a few guys who where in your shoes two years ago, instead of you wasting time, you could be in for spring practice. Enjoy the publicity, because you’ll probably just be watching this year.

FYI to those fellow dawg fans out there. Jarvis Jones silently committed to Urban Meyer on Sunday before leaving Gainesville. I hate that, but he is all Gator. He is a great player.

Please guys, stop blogging on here as though you’re talking directly to the kids. They have much better things to be doing than reading what 40-60 year old men think about them. Enjoy the blog and have fun with it, but don’t be retarded and think the kids are actually wasting their youth sitting on here reading your thoughts. Get real man….

Wow, DawgFan, thanks for sharing that… Amazing that Jarvis “silently” committed to Urban Meyer — yet YOU know about it AND have made it public! Gosh…I’m shocked that Meye would let a “DawgFan” so close to the secrets of the Florida program. And sad that you would betray his trust…

Now the real question is, why do pathetic fans of other programs such as Florida spend their time reading stories about UGA football in the Atlanta paper? lol

Jarvis will pick Texas or USC. From what I hear, Georgia dosen’t have a chance. We need to focus on the Massie kid and Orsen Charles. My sources also tell me that Cameron Kenney will pick the dawgs and if he qualifies, Greg Reid will be a bulldawg and if that happens Georgia will have a top 5 recruiting class again. Now it’s time to coach these guys up. The secondary could be one of the best to ever set foot in athens if Love, Branden, and Reid commit. The Massie kid will move in right away and be able to add depth to the offensive line that will be pretty deep if healthy. In my opinion, the biggest question about the bulldogs this season will be will Joe Cox make enough plays after spending 4 years in this system and who will emerge as the primary back, although it is my opinion that in the SEC you need three effective back to make it through the season. I think Dontavious Jackson, Richard Samual, and Caleb King will be the guys with Ealy waiting for one of them to stumble. By the way, I have great recruiting sources and let me just say the dawg fans are going to be very happy on signing day. O, I almost forgot, Marlon Brown is likely to sign with Tennessee, with a ll the pressure that Kiffin is putting on him, not to mention blowing his head up saying he is goping to be a super star.

Sorry guys, I have 3 fingers in my bum, and it takes me a while to type. Im a pathetic loser. I don’t have anything good to say about my underachieving, THuga team, so I talk trash about the best school/team in the state. Im 19 and think im so tough and smart b/c I follow recruiting. I like to give you TECHIES a hard time b/c I know that i will never get a good job with my HORTICULTURE degree. I know that I will never leave athens (like so many uga grads) and will just end up working as a bar tender b/c 83.5% of grads from uga stay in athens, and make less than $38,750 a year. Look it up.

Any top rated player, LB or any other position should consider Florida if they want to play for CHAMPIONSHIPS. If they want to be a perennial runner-up, then Georgia would be a good choice.

Florida OWNS Georgia, has for the last SEVENTY YEARS, and it’s getting WORSE for Georgia, not better:

If you count the Florida/Georgia series in the 2000’s, Florida leads Georgia 7 games to 2.

If you go back to the beginning of the ‘90’s, Florida leads 16 games to 3.

If you go back to the beginning of the ‘80’s, Florida leads 18 games to 11.

If you go back to the beginning of the ‘70’s, Florida leads 21 games to 18.

If you go back to the beginning of the ‘60’s, Florida leads 27 wins to 21.

If you go back to the beginning of the ‘50’s, Florida leads 33 wins to 25.

If you go back to the beginning of the 1940’s, Florida leads 35 games to Georgia’s 32.

So, in other words, FOR THE LAST SEVENTY YEARS, Florida has owned Georgia.

Now, if you want to compare head coaches, Urban Meyer’s last 5 years:

57-9 (Richt is 50-14)

5 bowls (5 bowls for Richt)

4 bowl wins (4 bowl wins for Richt)

3 BCS bowl wins (1 BCS bowl win for Richt)

3 13 win seasons (ZERO 13 win seasons for Richt)

3 conference championships (1 conference championship for Richt)

2 national championships (ZERO national championships for Richt)

1 Heisman winner (ZERO Heisman winners for Richt)

1 #1 overall NFL draft pick. (ZERO #1 overall NFL draft picks for Richt)

1 loss against traditional rivals (BYU, FSU, UT, UGa and Miami) ( TEN losses against traditional rivals UF, GaTech, Tenn, Auburn, Alabama for Richt)

Can someone please remind me why everyone thinks Mark Richt is a “great young coach”? I’ll take Urban Meyer over Mark Richt ANY DAY OF THE WEEK.

Go Gators!
