UGA and Oklahoma dispatch coaches to Kansas on Tuesday

It’s an all-out recruiting war between Oklahoma and UGA for wide receiver Cameron Kenney, and Tuesday’s battle took place in Kansas.

Both Oklahoma and UGA dispatched assistant coaches on Tuesday to Kansas, where Kenney plays at Garden City Junior College.

First up was Oklahoma co-offensive coordinator Jay Norvell. “He was checking on me,” Kenney told the AJC late Tuesday night. “He wanted to know where I stand with Oklahoma. I told him hopefully I’ll have a college decision after this weekend.

“[Norvell] just emphasized that Oklahoma was losing three starters at wide receiver and they were looking for guys that could come in and play right away. He reminded me that they have the Heisman Trophy winner [Sam Bradford] coming back, and they expect to compete for the national championship again next year. He feels like they have so many pieces in place to win it all, he just needs some wide receivers.”

Then Kenney said he spent a couple of hours with UGA assistant Tony Ball. “He said they lost a great quarterback with Matthew Stafford, but they feel really good about Joe Cox for next year. [Ball] said they felt like [UGA wide receiver] A.J. Green was going to be double-teamed a lot next year, leaving other wide receivers open to make big plays.”

Kenney is scheduled to arrive at Georgia for an official visit on Friday. “I let Oklahoma and Georgia know that I’m pretty sure I’ll know what I’m going to do after this weekend.”

What a great combination that would make at WR: Cameron Kenney and A.J. Green. I hope to see you playing for the Dawgs next season.

it would be nice for Cameron to come to Ga. But I don’t think the cupboard is bare if he don’t. Moore, Durham, King, Troupe, Goodman, Aron White and running backs etc can do the job. Most of them haven’t had much opportunity yet. It’s their turn now.

Also, you need to add Marlon Brown to that list. He’s gonna be a Dawg BABY YEAH!

Athenian Goodman is a SR this year and won’t be on the 09 team.

The Dawgs really need one of these WR’s to go ahead and make a SOLID commitment. Even Wooten is rumored to be a ‘soft’ commitment. I don’t know that it’s a huge need, though.

Let me see, know WHY would he pick UGA over a National Championship contender???

By gt4ever, thanks for the comment. Now go back to the blog on the GT recruits at receiver, oops, there are none. Who wants to go somewhere there is 6 passes attempted all year?

Could this kid really be that stupid? It’s a no-brainer!

OU = A shot at the National CHAMPIONSHIP Trophy

UGA = No shot in the SEC East but a great shot at Tampa or Orlando in late December! Who know’s, maybe he could get ‘lucky’ with a TB cougar in retirement!

Goodman is gone.

I would certainly think UGA is the longshot in this case.

He could always go to GT catch one pass for 6 yards, have 4 rushes for -5 yards with 10 tackles after interceptions and get owned in your own town against a sorry LSU team that might I add got bi*ch slapped by UGA in death valley!

I would rather the kid go to UGA if that helps them defeat FL this year!

Sounds like a good kid. He isn’t leading anyone on, letting them know exactly how he feels and exactly when he thinks he will have a decision. Good luck to you son.

Cameron is from Dacula, he wants to be able to look up in the stands and see his family and his boy’s. Come on home Cameron - where you know your loved.

The dawgs have just missed the championship game a few times recently. With you and other players like you - ya’ll can finish the drill.

No shot at a National Title? Call me when OU wins a BCS Bowl. On the flip sides how many times has UGA made the Sugar Bowl? It is just a matter of time in Athens. UGA has the QBs to make this kid look great. 2BT the Big 12 South was owned by the SEC.

Otto, If the SEC owned the big 12 South, which there were only 3 games played between the 2 conferences and you only won 2 of the 3 which is hardly owning anything, then the WAC owns the SEC, agreed? WAC 2-0 against your mighty SEC this year!

Cameron you would be a great fit at UGA with AJ & Michael Moore. It’s Great to be a Georgia Bulldog

The Dawgs easily get either Kenney or Brown, maybe both. We are in the drivers seat with Greg Reid and have a great chance with Massie. I hope you enjoyed your one year of glory nerds.

while a loyal dawg fan, i would have to say that it would be in his best interest to go to OU. looking at the type of offense they run, and the lack of depth at the wr position, and his shortened eligibility time, why would he come to UGA?

someone make the case for UGA—putting the kids best interest at heart?
