Lithia Springs DT commits to Boston College, despite Georgia Tech interest

Lithia Springs defensive tackle Bryan Davis will accept a scholarship offer from Boston College on Sunday.

The 6-foot-3, 280-pound lineman confirmed his intentions to the AJC on Saturday evening, during his official visit to B.C.

“The people here are great,” Davis said. “I love the atmosphere. Everybody here is friendly and wants you to succeed.”

Though Georgia Tech made a late run at him, Davis said he never felt a connection with the Jackets. Tech talked serious with Davis, but never offered.

“I didn’t feel like they wanted me,” he said. “I felt like they had [another recruit] in mind.

“It’s not that I don’t like Georgia Tech. I just didn’t feel the energy from them.”

BC is going through a Coaching Nightmare right now and He picked them. Good Luck young man but that was an interesting choice.

LOL!!! Yech recruiting is the gift that keeps on giving!!! Gailey was reeling them in, but St. Johnson with Yech’s best season in a lifetime can’t get d*ck, LOL!! I love it!!!

Gee, I wonder if the NON-championship rings are scaring kids away? “Hey, come to Yech, where you get a ring for not winning crap!!” LOL!! I love it!!!

As much as it pains me, Reality is right to an extent. Its a bit odd that after we had our best season in quite some time that we’re getting a far lower rated recruiting class than any Gailey brought in. Even though Johnson surpassed Gailey’s best season. There is a trend of coaches in the college, and pro, ranks finding success with their predecessors team, and not able to build anything of their own. I’m starting to wonder if this offense is really going to bring in the kinds of athletes CPJ would need to take it to the next level. This is very concerning…

Jacket n Dville,

Take heart. A) this is a very good recruiting class for Tech, likely top 25 which Gailey only did with one class.

B) after a very good season a coach sees recruiting rewards in the class after the one coming in immediately afterwards, that is due to when the recruiting of players starts. Think about it, when did most of this class really commit? It was a good deal earlier in the year, right? And getting a kid to commit is truly a multi year process.

So stay tuned to the class following the incoming one and then start drawing conclusions.

Jacke n dville… you said lower rated. By who’s standard? CPJ seems to sign the players he wants. You are implying he has poor judgement when it comes to evaluation of talent. And the most important issue is, the kid did not turn down Tech. Tech did not offer him a scholly. The kid was smart and took what was available, a free ride to a major Univ.

You people are idiots, the kid even said he didn’t have an offer from them and GT wasn’t that interested. Tech’s class right now is a top 25 class. Gailey’s 07 class was the only class higher rated than this one. The 09 class is loaded and actually has players that will qualify academically. Watch out you always see results in recruiting the year after a good season. Especially after proving that PJ’s offense works to the tune of 45 points in Athens.

JacketnDoraville:

What you state as fact is TOTAL BS. Gailey had EXACTLY ONE class in the 6 years he was here that was rated higher than the current class CPJ is putting together. The current class CPJ is putting together will be in the top 25 (or very close to it).

CPJ is a winner period. He will recruit the players he wants. I don’t think he is really concerned about what a hick in D ville thinks. Only an idiot can’t see what is happening on the flats. The future is so bright at tech, that the bitc* nation cant’ stop talking about it or should I say crying about it. Yes CPJ can evaluate talent and yes he can coach them up. Proof is in the pudding I believe 45-42 says it all. Plus he did it with players that have never been in this system. Plus he did it his FIRST year. Haters just SHUT UP, until you know what you are talking about. I for one an finally looking forward to playing the mutts again, we have a real chance of putting together a string of victories against them now.

That’s because LSU beat all the life out of them Bryan. You made a sound choice son.

Some people seem to be idiots when it comes to recruiting. Tech has to recruit a different type of recruit. No only good football players, but good students as well. The great top ten recruiting class at Georgia would be out of Tech in one semester. Plus while Tech had a great year last year, it also had the youngest team in the ACC. Every other team has made sure that the recruits know that a scholarship to Tech means a red shirt and along time on the bench before they get to play. Tech’s class is rated 25th by Scout.com and will get higher by signing day. For those who don’t have a clue, this is pretty good considering every player is already qualified and will show up on day one. Some of the schools like Georgia will loose four or five recruits to non-qualification and several will go to jail before day one.

Exactly right Jacket in Dville. The fact the bees cant capitalize off their best season in decades is very alarming for the Yech faithful. If there was one year they could get a top rated class it would have been this one. But oopsie!!! Nobody wants to play in a prehistoric triple option that got exposed beyond belief in the most lopsided Chick-fil-a Bowl ever.

SISSY JACKET,

Yech recruiting stellar “student athletes” is a myth conjured up by the pathetic Yech fan base and the Yech Buzz (aka the AJC). Your thugs you annually recruit for hoops just to go one and done riddles that bs argument better than an AK-47.

Try again little fella :)

SISSY DAWG, you’re breaking my heart pal. I can hear a violin slowly playing in the background. That was a very moving piece of fiction. It really tugs at the heart strings. Unfortunately, internet sob stories about supposed challenges in recruiting won’t get you very far on the football field. The ACC is not going to handicap you. The BCS will award you no extra points. All that matters is the bottom line of wins and losses. As I have said to crybaby Tech fans numerous times over the years, if you’re at such a huge disadvantage in recruiting as you claim you need to drop down a division or maybe join a less competitive conference. Otherwise, shut the hell up. There are numerous D-1 teams that face just as many challenges in recruiting as does Georgia Tech, if not more. They either deal with it or they do the best they can and keep their mouths shut. Vandy doesn’t even have an athletic department. I don’t see their football fans crying like little girls about it, do you? There isn’t a fanbase in all of D-1 that uses the academic crutch more than Georgia Tech. It is absolutely pathetic.

Siisy Dawg

You are a pansy. Yech does not recruit a different type of athlete. Burnette the OL from LeGrange is going to be the valedictorian of his class and never had any interest in Yech. Morgan Burnette that is a at Tech now is no Rhoades Scholar. He merely did not want to play in his brothers shadow at UGA. Dwyer was recruited by UGA as well until we got Knowshon. We recruited Nesbitt but as an athlete not a QB. I get so tired of the different type of athlete crap. It is a lame excuse and sorry crutch for you whiney a* nerds. Even Tyrone Sorrells who could not make it out of developmental studies during the Jan Kemp episode was admitted and played at the fine institution on North Avenue. Give it a rest and shut up already you looser!!! Look at all the points your D gave up last season. Do you really expect to improve after you loose the 3 best d linemen on the squad. Last I checked you were not bringing in a dominant D line recruiting class. Dork!!!

Man does it really bother you Pugs to lose to us. I guess the sting of such an underachieving season AND a loss to the lowly Jackets has you surfing a recruiting topic about a kid that didn’t even get an offer from our lowly trade school. What a bunch of losers…..and I’m not even talking about on the field.

Seriously “Reality” (neat name your mother gave you at birth - hiding behind a keyboard, tool, as in you are one) I know you’ll have the wit to say that we finally beat you guys or 1 out of 8 ain’t bad, but in this year of all years……has to suck even more for you. Again, and slower……you are a major league L O S E R. Has nothing to do with whether your team wins or not.

Wow. You just see a headline of a young student-athlete turning down Tech for another school and you just have to jump on the boards and make comments. I feel sorry for you. Under Gailey, Tech only had one recruiting class that was ranked higher than the class CPJ is bringing in now, and that class was ranked 15th (according to Scout.com). Now I know a number of those players from that class had a very profound role in beating Georgie this year but nevertheless, Georgia should be competing for National Championships every year with their usual top ten recruiting classes. Before you say it, I know your response. But Georgie plays in the SEC! It’s the best conference in the world! You take a beating with an SEC schedule! Doesn’t seem to phase Florida too much.

To Huh?: you say “there isn’t a fanbase in all of D-1 that uses the academic crutch more than Georgia Tech. It is absolutely pathetic.” Maybe that’s because you are in Georgia and you hear it more. How do you know Vandy fans don’t complain about it?

to Moron,

Nice to see you already know what the response is and that you acknowledge the truth. Yeah, it doesn’t bother Florida too much because they’re on the verge of having a dynasty you toolbag, Lol, great comeback there!! Dynasty’s aren’t a very common thing incase you weren’t aware. And yes, the SEC is the toughest conference in all the land. Which is exactly why Yech bolted to the pathetic ACC before the offer was even delivered by mail.

UGA was going after Dwyer until you got Knowshon? Really? Knowshon was RS his FR year at UGA while Dwyer was a SR in high school, they weren’t in the same HS class. You UGA fans have no idea what you are talking about. How can anyone take you seriously when you just make up nonsense?
