Tucker’s Jonathan Davis gets invitation from Central Florida

The story of Tucker’s Jonathan Davis appears headed toward a “happy ending.”

Davis committed to South Carolina last month, but had his scholarship offer withdrawn by the Gamecocks last Friday.

The 5-foot-7, 205-pound linebacker has an offer from Alabama-Birmingham, and is scheduled to visit Central Florida this weekend. The AJC Super 11 selection said he had a lengthy conversation with Knights coach George O’Leary.

“He said he loved me as a player, and he was really impressed with how I handled [being dropped] by South Carolina,” Davis said. “[O’Leary] wanted to know if I was ready to commit.”

Davis maintained on Wednesday night that he has “no hard feelings” toward South Carolina. The Charleston Post and Courier reported that former Gamecocks assistant Ron Cooper had indeed offered Davis against the wishes of the rest of the staff.

When Cooper took a job with LSU last week, South Carolina broke the news with a quick call to Davis.

“I have no hard feelings toward South Carolina, Coach [Steve] Spurrier, or anybody about what happened … I have moved forward,” Davis said. “I know that when God closes one door, he opens another one.”

“I believe that God has bigger plans for me. It may be at a bigger school than South Carolina or it may not. But I know that wherever God places me, it will be where I belong for the next stage of my life …”

Look into the O’Liar’s background kid. He’s the biggest piece of crap in the entire NCAA.

Jonathan, Come to UCF! We need you and will give you an opportunity at early playing time and a degree.

O’leary is a strict diciplinarian and has molded many boys into great young men.

I hope UCF lands Jonathan. If it is between UCF and UAB then the choice is easy. UAB doesn’t even have a campus and plays infront 3000 people.

Robert, you clearly dont know what the hell your talking about. I happen to know George personally. I just wish we all could go play at Reynolds, I could invite you to go, and after a couple of whisky drinks maybe you could muster up the courage to say that to George himself so I could watch him pull your arm off and beat you to death with it. Let me see a resume that doesnt have any bs on it. You are a liar. If you werent wise enough to put your resume together yourself, that means you paid someone to put lies on paper for you! Stupid liar! Hey kid, best of luck wherever you go!! George is a good man, he will teach you well. You’ll leave there twice the man any UGA kid is, thats a fact!

Jonathan Davis (UCF) has wanted you from day one. This is one thing you should keep in mind. I have known you since you were 11years old. All ways carried your self in a upstanding manner. Always yes sir or no sir. Put him with Coach O’Leary & Coach David Kelly. and we will see a fine young man return back to the Atlanta area with a degree. Good luck to you son on what ever decision you make UBA will not be a bad decision ether.

O’Leary and Kelly, what a pair of mentors. One fine set of morals to use as an example. Actually, you may just fit perfectly. If you don’t, they will just run you to death.

Mr. Davis, GOL is one of the greatest football minds around, and is creating an incredible football program down in Orlando. Being a Knight would be one of the greatest experiences of your life, and I would absolutely encourage that.

Ask any parent, and they will tell you that GOL has done wonderful things for their players.

I hope that you do opt for UCF over UAB (not even nearly the program and school that UCF is). In fact, I would encourage you to talk to Mr. Johnnie Farms, and Jamal Patterson as well. Get them to see the light!!! You could help UCF become the next big college football program. Seize that opportunity.

Here is to Jonathan Davis having a great time at UCF and coming with an open mind. I really think Davis can play early and O’leary is a coach I would gladly send my sons to play for. He has shaped the lives many of young men, he is not an easy coach but then again nothing easy is worth it.

Isn’t Central Florida that place where recruits go to die?

For those of you that have never been to the University of Central Florda - you would be very very surprised on how the campus is designed - the academics - and the fact that they are investing into their sports programs.

Overall, this is a very good school.

My neighbor’s kid decided to go their - after being accepted to GA Tech. Mainly due to their Engineering Program. He has done well and will be a rising senior. He is co-op with Lockhead - and has another opportunity with NASA.

Visited the campus - very impressed with what they have done.

Hey Ogeechee Dawg, you need to learn the difference between THEIR and THERE….after you do that, you can comment on the quality of education at UCF, USC or GT. Until then dude…STFU.

Funny to see the UCF fans putting down UAB. Didn’t UCF get shut-out 15-0 at home by UAB to end the season?

Jonathon,

Don’t listen to these liars! You should play for UAB where we have no returning starters in our linebacking corp. UCF has all three starters back and 2 returning second string. Where do you think you will get early playing time?

Go Blazers!

Undertaker: Recruits dont come here to die.. they actually make it to the NFL. Ever heard of Culpepper, Asante Samuel, Brandon Marshall, or Kevin Smith? (theres a few others)

As far as comparing UAB and UCF.. UCF has made it to the conference championship 2 out of the last 4 years, winning once — and we will compete for it again next year.

I dont know much about UAB so… what I will say is, we need players like Davis to help put us over the hump. On our last pocession of the game, we were driving to beat Miami, was beating BC at the half, and took USF to overtime. All with a very inexperienced offense.

I think we had an off year that showed promise.. As far as UAB.. just seems like an average year maybe?
