Three former local high school standouts recently signed scholarships with SEC teams after attending junior colleges.
Leon Berry, a star at Griffin two years ago, signed with Mississippi State after spending two seasons at East Mississippi Community College. The wide receiver, who was named second team All-American by the National Junior College Athletic Association, recently enrolled in Mississippi State.
Offensive linemen Steven Singleton (6-foot-3, 310 pounds) and Kevious Watkins (6-5, 350) are headed to South Carolina after playing last season at Georgia Military College.
Singleton, who played at Buford, signed with LSU in 2006 before leaving a year later. Watkins signed with University Birmingham-Alabama last year after playing at Creekside.
