Wesley Tate, a 6-foot-2, 205-pound running back for Pope John Paul II High in Hendersonville, Tenn., remains in the mix for one of Georgia Tech’s remaining scholarships.
Tate, who rushed for nearly 1,300 yards and 20 touchdowns during his senior season, is focused on Georgia Tech, Miami (Ohio), Purdue and Vanderbilt.
His recruiting coach at Tech is co-offensive line coach Todd Spencer. Tate is tentatively scheduled visit the Tech campus on Jan. 23.
“I didn’t get a chance to go a game this past season at Georgia Tech,” Tate told JacketsOnline.com. “I’ve been talking to coach Spencer and I feel good about Georgia Tech.
“I’ve only been there for an AAU basketball tournament and, from what I can tell, the facilities are pretty nice.”
Tate’s current front-runner is Vanderbilt.

Be careful, I hear that is leaning towards the Miami (OH) opportunity. Since Tech cannot recruit in-state, are they now searching for “projects”

Not sure why Tech doesn’t go back after Jonathan Davis now? Seems like the obvious thing …

I say any team that gives up 400+ yards of rushing doesn’t have room to call their RB’s “projects.” Here’s a project - hire a coach that can teach kids to tackle!
